One year. Though now the program has been restructured tob18 months. But finishing early in UNN Econs depends on u.

UNN has never done M.Sc for a year. The dean of postgraduate studies Prof. A.U.Ubachukwu is a professor in my department and he taught me in my final year, and he always tell us about post graduate studies in UNN. I have made many researches on UNN M.Sc but i haven't heard or seen anyone that did it for a year. maybe your own is special.

The old professors who call the shots are still there but underground calling the shots.an old professor cannot tell a hod or Dean who is a doctor to do something and he will say no.they put young PhD guys there as a stooge or camouflage while calling the shots underneath and pretend that New young PhD guys are there.

These guys just remodified their strategies

These young PhD holders who are hods are either their academic sons who have been loyal and subservient to them and so they rewarded them or their friends

My dear I think UNN is a bit better. Just finished my MSc in Economics there nd applied for a PhD. There are reasonably sound lecturers who are up to date. The econometrics teacher is d best I ve seen. Nobody have asked me for one naira for anything. Though, there are still few not too good ones there, yet, d experience is worthwhile.

How many years sir. I am running from my school because i know what those lecturers can do. It may be easier for you if you didn't have your undergraduate there.

university of ibadan is living on past glory /reputation. They're not different from oau when it comes to unnecessary bureaucratic delays.oau like ibadan can give you 1001 reasons why you will not graduate OR why you don't deserve to graduate even after fulfilling all their requirements

Chai bros, i am planning to go there for an M.Sc program. What is this nah, everyone blaming buhari forgetting that this lecturers are devils. i was running away from UNN though i had they have restructured the M.Sc program, even at that UI is still better than UNN in terms of PG studies

Can you imagine! And I was contemplating a PhD there...UNIZIK! @lastmessenger can you shed more light on the problems in your department at UNIZIK?

You are on your own if you dare try it. Bros abeg avoid that oo. UNN is even better in terms of PG studies even at that they still have their own wickness, but for now, my advice is avoid those Universities. UI is still better, i graduated from UNN though

OK Sir,I stay inside d school cos of power.Power is a very serious issue in Ibadan.Except u are inside d school or in d GRA area(which is far from d school),it won't be funny esp during d time of project.So I stay inside,but know that it ranges based on d type and how exquisite u want it to be.The prob is d agents.u can see as low as 1k5 per month(but better soup na money kill am?
UI session starts in March and end roughly Jan/Feb d following year as a session.The form is usually out in April,aptitude test in Sept,deptal tests then admission.

I graduated from Umudike.Well,UI is cool,d environment is peaceful and a nice place 2 reside esp when u want 2 run away from Lagos wahala.
A serious student will get thru depending on your dept but d Max is 24mnths,depts like education,physics,English,chemistry,mostly sciences,education and arts should take u roughly 17mnths,devoid of strike.Engrg,and some other more difficult ones will be like 21months,so d key is more haste less speed.
D schoolfees range from 90-120k depending on dept.120k is Max for d 1st session,Students who graduated from universities other than UI pay slightly higher,like 2500 difference.d 3rd semester which is strictly for project,u pay half of d 1st semester.for example:As an engrg stud,I paid 112550(non-UI stud),d 3rd semester I pay 52k.All these are accommodation exclusive.Accommodation is 25k for a 3man room,u are guaranteed at least 18hrs power supply daily.
Am not marketing d school,but dat is no1 in d country for PG Education in Nigeria(u can verify).Like all school environments,house rent isn't that cheap,but it is cheaper compared 2 Lagos.UI pays one of d cheapest if not d cheapest at MSc level,excepting in d North.
The time frame is maintained strictly,except its ur fault.The hidden charges at dept levels are d deptal dues,association dues and all dat,its faculty-dependent,d highest u can pay is 4k dat I know of which is even in Chemistry dept.I paid 2k for mine.
No hidden charges for anythn,lab work stuffs are in your schoolfees,if any other thing u can discuss with your supervisor,d best I know here is not a place someone can just be collecting your cash.
One secret here in UI is dat,d only thing d lecturers need from u is a very good and publishable research work.that's their sole aim.Of course,u know when u publish,ur supervisor takes 60% of d glory.
80% of thesis in UI are published.We have been told already,that u MUST publish.
The lecturers have avenues and links to where these papers can b published.Do a good job,ur supervisor will open d door.

Wow, you did a very wonderful work. I am used to the publishing stuff, i know how research papers are published, My supervisor told to publish my project but i didn't, i have already placed it in a publishable format, i did a powerful research in UNN during my undergraduate project, it was even rated an M.Sc work, that's by the way.

Thank you so much, but the part you didn't answer was an estimate of how much house rent could cost outside the school, i prefer a private room where i will have 100% privacy.

MSc is an averagely 18-24months programme,depending on your course.The Good thing about UI is that its d one of d cheapest aside Universities in the North,with less than 170k(accommodation exclusive).Its a cool place,d city is sweet and peaceful(am Igbo);
They also have quite a number of experienced lecturers and teachers,they aren't perfect though,d Nigerian factor always come in....but we dey survive

1. Is the 18-20 months M.sc study in UI feasible if the student is hard working? i mean do they maintain the time frame?
2. How much is School fees for now
3. Are there departmental hidden charges for M.Sc students maybe by their lecturers or lab that they may be working in
4. How much is house rent around the school environs.

Thank you so much for your time. I finished from UNN and wish to pursue M.Sc in UI probably M.Sc Applied Geophysics or Theoretical Physics

It hasn't been easy for me at all. Combining freelancing with NYSC is no easy task. It's not easy meeting deadlines and then keeping up with PPA work. I even have to reject some jobs.

So many sleepless nights. I am an avid reader but from August to December I read just 2 books. When normally, I read a book every week.

I hardly watch Chelsea matches again.

Now I sleep for about 4 hours daily.

But the pay has been rewarding.

By God's grace, will be through with service by May, outsource to a solid team of writers and get my self involved in other projects.
