SMJay:Of course. Drop your email and I will reach out to you sir |
mayysen:Sent. Check your email |
folash:You are welcome. I wish you the best in your career and in Business Analysis |
folash:Sent! Please check your email and you can remove it on nairaland also. |
folash:You need to understand that Business Analysis can mean different things to different people. A BA in say Nigeria Breweries or an FMCG company is different from a BA in an IT Firm, and to some extent different from a BA in a consulting firm. So you need to narrow yours down to receive the best recommendation. Also, like mysticgal said, you need basic consulting experience. |
folash:My PM doesn't work. Lost access to the email a year ago. |

hmlsolo:I believe in preparing oneself for the future. Earning 80k now in this economy.... Get a high demand skill and negotiate salary of 700k/month and above |
SMJay:In response to how much, be informed that before you get a TCC you must have paid tax for the last 3 years. I don't recommend getting a TCC for 2022 because it will expire 31st December 2022. He/she should wait till January. In the state where we operate their Tax Management System and IGR, a TCC can be given when a total payment of N250k has been paid for the last 3 years. The picture below is a paragraph of the memo we received to implement some changes for generating TCC effective January 1st 2023.
|
SMJay:If you understand how tax works from the regulators frame of reference you will know that it will take her time to get a TCC. If she reports to the IRS, the IRS will send their Backduty department to come and audit the firm, this will take time and mean they will pay huge some of money. If she truly needs a TCC, then she should go through the Direct Assessment Tax department and get a TCC within a day. Every state have a minimum amount above which a TCC can be given. In some states, it's lower, in other states it could be higher. All she needs to do is to go to any tax office and ask to be assessed and given a TCC. This process has been simplified and TCC can be gotten within hours. |
Go into Tax. It's an interesting field with lots of things to learn on daily basis. Knowing how it works is a skill that is important to have. I have been into taxation from a consulting, tech, and regulatory point and I can tell you that the opportunities are limitless. Most people who do tax work in IRS of different states but it's not even the right place to work with the knowledge of taxation. Work with tech companies that are into taxation. |
SMJay:Of course something can be done. She need to pay through Direct Tax for 3 years, with that she can obtain a TCC within a day. |
SuperWriter:Are you available for a content? Drop your contact number or email |
TigerHead001 Could you please drop your email. Regards |
Rubbiish:The highest he got to maybe 130 km/hr. |
Itsrm:Honestly I don't know the nonsense the guy was talking about. Speed is speed. |
AbelAbdul:Didn't know on time. I know someone in Apapa Tin can. I went there to buy a car and it was a good experience. Got a 2010 Camry @ 3.3m last year October. |
SMJay:Yeah, I just realized that I posted the picture for the old method. |

Oyindamolah:Yeah, I posted the image for old method of computation. It should be 11% on the remainder, that is 11% * 111k = 12210 + the 7% on 300k Which gives you the total. |
Liebermann:PTDF does not have a set timeline they follow. It varies every year, thus, they are not predictable. I remember vividly that it was on June 14th that our names came out. Last year, I think it was in July. With June almost gone or with the interviews just concluded, it's obvious that the list won't come out this month and we can all hope for July. They are most people here who are connected and have contact of some workers or decision makers in the Tower. So they can know the expected date of release of the list. |
SMJay:Very sure |
Minnieny:There are statements we shouldn't be making. During my studies, I took a large course on thermohydraulics that I could come up and defend it in the interview knowing Nigerian is not yet very advanced in such topics. PTDF is all about getting a topic, linking it to the oil and gas and defending it. But you defending it depends on the people you are presenting to. If they are clueless or have a closed mind that they can only listen to one topic, then irrespective of your knowledge or effort, it will just be a waste. |
Fremaxx:You mustn't comment or respond. First you don't know what my topic is about or the proposal. Secondly, PTDF doesn't fund or support only oil and gas topics. Lastly, you should know that oil exploration releases radioactive elements from the soil and also that some radioactive elements are used in drilling and contaminate the environment. A simple google search should show you that the communities in Delta States close to oil fields are all contaminated. |
Liebermann:Yes, maybe at the emboldened if and only if he's grading the everything including SOP. The guy was very nice and we discussed about France and he said he will see me soon. I told him that 'I hope so.' Everything you said is true, there's a very big disconnect between lecturers and students. It's very bad for a lecturer to have his entire education in Nigeria, because when they do, they'd think the world is like the system that groomed them. They become exact replica of what they went through and I think it's so for Prof. He had a closed mindset and he thinks everything is what he knows. But the truth is, he could be a Prof. of Mechanical engineering but may not even be a graduate Assistant in other fields. Hence the reason he should be very open. In France, we reported a lecturer that was not even as close as Prof. We were not understanding what he was teaching and we reported him and he was removed. How much more if we had a Prof-like lecturer. In all, the second guy graded everything, but I think it will be Prof. that will grade the SOP or maybe the two of them. But then Prof. was entering my O-Level before the guy stepped in and he (Prof.) gave it to him but retained the SOP. Whichever way, it's best not to put mind in him but retain some little faith like you have proposed. |
ComradeTY:Yes bro. I was in the Tower yesterday. I just dread Nigerian lecturers in whatever form they come except those that have an open mind or who knows what lecturing or teaching ought to be. The things I was mentioning to him is being done in South Africa, Indonesia, etc. Its not even like I was saying things that isn't real or being done. The Prof. was just being destructive and vengeful yesterday. Things he ought to know which he doesn't know was what got me mad. |
In Summary, the action and attitude of one of the panelist yesterday was very bad. I know this for the following reason 1. Even if Prof. wasn't satisfied or convinced, he doesn't need to behave like the Nigeria lecturer that I was running away from. It behooves on him to remain calm, listen more, advice, recommend and suggest good ways to do the same. This is what is called constructive criticism. But it's common among Nigerians to look down on others especially when he/she thinks he's in a higher position. In 2017, I was a member of the World Bank Consultancy Project on Nigeria electricity issues, I interviewed all the heads of Nigerian Bulk Electricity Company (NBET), the government agency that manages the production and distribution of electricity. So when Prof. was busy talking anyhow, he has no understanding of what is going on in the Generation side (GenCo) and distribution side (DisCo). He was just full of himself which was very bad. 2. Panelists should have an open mind. Of course in such scholarship, it's possible to see some weird ideas but this is 21st century, everything is possible and impossibility only exist in the mind. Someone who sits in such panel should be open to things he doesn't know, he should also be open to innovations and to learn too. One thing you will see abroad from lecturers is their humility. Irrespective of their years of experience, they are very humble and this is why they have good lecturer to student relationship. Prof. was everything a lecturer shouldn't be. Yesterday, I didn't feel bad because of his possible grading (it means nothing to me, I know that the concept of winning and losing very well), but the entire process and the country having such kind of lecturers. While he was busy criticizing what he doesn't understand, I was busy pitying his students and imagining what it's like being mentored by people like this. |
I have to share my interview experience, it was bad, I mean very bad but wasn't my fault anyway. So I went in to meet a 2-man panel. They were of course other panels having 3 persons but when it was my turn, it was the panel with 2 persons that were empty and had requested for an applicant. I was feeling lucky believing I had 2 persons to deal with without knowing it was a bad omen for me. ![]() So they checked all my documents, everything was fine, I had everything with me, but not the panelist. So when it was time for me to present, all hell broke loose. I couldn't believe they were people in this generation and a professor in that matter that haven't heard of nuclear. The very moment I mentioned Nuclear (it doesn't matter how I want to apply the nuclear), he stopped me and said "Nuclear in this Nigeria??" The professor was a very old man with little or no knowledge of the current research. I mentioned the use of Monte Carlo Neutron Transport Codes, but he head of only Monte Carlo and chuckled, saying it was what they used 40-50 years ago I mentioned nuclear waste management, and cleaning of oil spillage, he interrupted me and questioned how can I be mentioning nuclear waste in energy management. He even questioned if nuclear has waste? Jesus, I couldn't believe what happened yesterday. It was very funny anyway. So that was how it went yesterday. It was bad with Prof. But then you don't blame him, Prof. didn't believe Ajaokuta steel can work, he said I should forget about what the government was saying that its a scam and just a consultancy project. He was very proud, but I reminded him that the reason why Geregu powerplant was sited very close to Ajaokuta was to supply electricity to the plant. I told him everything he needs to be convinced but then, his mind was made up and I can't change that. Prof. didn't know that Nigeria currently produce 4000MWe of electricity, when I told him that he said it was not true, I told him to check the internet. He said the only thing that the government should do is to produce energy from Gas, and that Gas is a clean source of energy. We went to Germany where he mentioned that they shut down all their reactors and I told him that they were importing 34% of their electricity demand from France, he said it wasn't true, I told him it was and that the internet is there for him to check. And now asked him what he thinks Germany will do now with the Ukraine Was and stoppage of the gas flow, he got the point anyway. Well, it was bad with Prof. but the second guy was amazed though openly didn't want to disagree with Prof. manner, so when Prof. went to fetch his tea, we had a good discussion and he even told me to wait and greet Prof. before I leave. In summary, it wasn't smooth but then, there is nothing to worry about. If I get it fine, if I didn't get it, next year, I will meet prof. again. |
hosey:Thanks bro. Yeah, Abuja centre is usually applicant-friendly. Anything PTDF is doing is just formality. Take it from me. They are not as we all think. Of course they try to improve themselves but they are still below expectation. During our induction, they demanded for guarantors of some levels or cadres. I didn't have anyone, infact the ones I know would want you to come and kneel before them. I just ignored PTDF until the last day of submission when they announced that anyone can guarantee you Infact the guarantor that I used will need a guarantor He was just my colleague in the office. So if they like they should introduce whatever they like, no one will enforce anything, it's all for documentation purposes. |
tolaade1960:Industries are the highest sponsors of MSc and PhD thesis. They even lead in serious (useful) publications. From my experience, industries produce the best of research papers. So it's not out of order for publication to be among. Infact I know a PTDF Scholar doing her PhD in Total France. I think it's only in Nigeria, perhaps due to the nature of our industries that we think publication is not important. I did my M.Sc thesis in an industry, most of my classmates did in industries, some do in hospitals, etc, and they write some papers. In my final year, all my courses where taught by teachers in the field. There is a good handshake between academics and industries in civilised and progressive countries. |
. And they knew you will be very good in the field because u studied in Russia, yet they couldn't give you the scholarship. To me, I think Nigeria has not gotten to the nuclear space yet that's why they keep rejecting such topics.
