TravelRe: Can I Visit Ghana From Nigeria With Expired Passport? by mrsage(m): 2:16pm On Aug 11, 2016
Board a bus to Ghana from Amuwo Odofin, or Mile 2. You can consider ABC Transport, cross country etc.

They will take care of your entry and exit without a passport.

Good luck

Note:

Just sweep that expired passport under the carpet. You don't need it. A valid ID card will be just fine.

Ikorodu should be on the list.
InvestmentRe: Transportation Buisness That Fetches Money (danfo) by mrsage(m): 2:16pm On Aug 10, 2016
stewatt:
People see the transportation business as a waste of resource and a stressful business to venture into, unfortunately for them they forget all business has it stress and risk..
The Danfo business is a lucrative business if tackled with great tactics.. Here are my opinions

Get a bus of 1.2m (danfo to be precise) with 22 passenger sit
Get trusted driver (family recommendation so to say)
Get your bus registered in the transport business
Start making money

Imagine having all these set and ready, transporting passengers from a particular B.S to the other approximately 200 naira, check the statistics 200×22 gives 4400 for a one-go movement with makes it 8800 for a go-come movement.. Now for the whole day,if he makes at least 10 go-comes, 8800×10= 88000 minus expenses meaning fuel and taxes and miscellaneous should give 80000±.. Now with owning 80000×30days will give you 2400000 though you don't expect to have that exact amount, meaning there will be some hidden expenses to cover like paying your driver and all..You don't have to be involved in the processes of business before you can be called a millionaire. Transport bizz is great.. Now what do you think?
Oga, it' s very obvious you are not into transportation business.

Yes transport is lucrative (I know this because the business pays my bills) but your analysis is far from the truth.

First, that type of bus... 22 seater isn't called Danfo. It's called LT Bus.

With 1.2million, you probably ( may )not get a first grade tokunbo. So you probably will buy a Naija Used bus.

Implication. More money on repairs and maintenance.

You will still earn good money anyway but more allocation for maintenance.

You will be amazed how many times you may visit the mechanic in a month. You will service, change brake pads and tyres regularly.

Now to the most difficult part. Getting a driver. You probably need divine help from above to get a good driver.

I drive my customer so I know what it takes to be a driver.

If you are educated and polished, it May probably be a disadvantage in danfo business.

Way forward.

Get a reliable care taker to handle your bus, just sit back and collect your weekly payment while the care taker handles drivers and the day to day running of the business.

I know a couple of people who do this and it works.

All the best.

BusinessRe: I Want To Use My Degree To Get Loan In Order To Start Transport Business. by mrsage(m): 8:03am On Aug 09, 2016
LblaqueHaven:
I graduated some years ago and presently working with one of the leading micro lending financial institution, receiving salary that is obviously not enough especially during this economic downturn time in Nigeria.
Apparently, I am not the type that love working for someone despite the fact that I graduated with second class upper division but I decided to work in a corporate environment so as to gain experience, in order to know how to handle and sustain business in Nigeria's red ocean market.
Early this year, I was not finding things funny financially as I was unable to settle bills after taking out fare from my take home that is no longer taking me anywhere, so I made up my mind to go into transport business but capital to execute the business has been a major bane for me to delve into the intra state(Lagos) transportation business that I consider to be a viable business option in Nigeria at the moment because of the necessity of it.

I want Nairalanders to please advise me on the questions below :

1. What's your take on a 2.1 graduate going into transportation business (bus driver) in a state like Lagos?

2. Considering the capital involved in getting a good 18 seater bus, will it be appropriate to use my certificates as collateral to get loan from individual willing to assist me with loan that will attract little or no interest and backed with a legal documents? (Obviously, I can't take loan from bank because of the high interest rate that will eat all the profit of the business).

3. What are the factors you think I should consider in doing this business? (Note: I want to drive it myself).

4. Where and who do you think can give out loan considering what I stated in question 3 ?

5. Please advise me on whatever you think will be helpful to me and the business.

Thanks as I anticipate your constructive criticism.
Bros.

I'm a graduate and I'm also into transportation business.

First forget your grades or university achievement. Nobody cares really.

The business environment is like a battle field.

Second point. Why do you want to drive a bus? Do you have the passion ? Do you have the physical capacity? Just provide honest answers.

From my experience, educated guys function better in the Car Hire / taxi segment of the market. However you can still operate in the mass transit bus segment if you have what it takes.

It's obvious you don't have the resources to buy a bus for now. I suggest you start by signing up as an uber driver. Start as an employee first.

With your education you stand a chance of passing the uber driver accessment. Then you hook up with a partner and start up as a driver.

With this you will learn the basics of transportation business. This learning experience is very important.

You need to learn on the streets. Learn how to deal with customers, law enforcement, other drivers etc.

The opportunities are numerous but I urge you to start from scratch and start with what you can easily get then with time you step up gradually.

Seen. After reading the article I feel like crying for my dear country. Makes me remember the Yoruba proverb that makes reference to the tree.

When the tree has rest of mind, the birds too will have rest of mind.

The Nigerian economy isn't smiling at all right now.

I'm short of words.

TravelAffordable Holiday Destinations in Lagos & South Western Nigeria by mrsage(op):
Hello,

I'm sure you agree that we need to escape from the stress in Lagos. We all need to relax sometimes and let off some steam.

I want to reveal how we can achieve maximum holiday satisfaction with little resources.

They say holidays / vacations are expensive but I'm here to show you how to make it happen on a low budget.

Let's start with Lagos State.

1. Badagry

The idea behind a vacation / holiday is to visit an amazing place. Badagry is truly amazing.

With the Atlantic Ocean running through the city you will simply love it.

There are over 5 historical tourist sites in Badagry and they are indeed very affordable.

Some of the sites in Badagry include:

The first Storey building in Nigeria.

Agia Tree Monument. Where Christianity was first preached in Nigeria.

Badagry Heritage Museum

Several Family Museums
District officers office
Slave Barracoon
Vlekete Slave Market.
Then point of No Return / Slave Route etc.

Now to enjoy Badagry, visit any of these sites. Admission costs about N200 to each site. Except the Slave Route.
You need a boat ride to gain access to the slave route. This will cost about N1,500.

Accommodation
There is an amazing beach side hotel. It is located right by the beach and you can get accommodation from N3,500 - 12,000 a night. They have all necessary facilities to make you comfortable.

The environment is so natural and you will simply love it.

Food is available within Badagry. There is a fast food outlet along Dosu Joseph way and a local restaurant opposite Mobil petrol Station.

Food is also available at the hotel.

Shopping
You can visit the Badagry market along the Marina for some sea food.

I'm sure you will love this.

Additional Spice

You may decide to pay a visit to the Ceme Border just for the fun of it. We don't get to visit an international land border all the time you know.
