Amazing. More than 30% interest in 1 month. |
There are several factors involved. What location are you looking at. Lagos or where?? What type of car(s) ? |
Raychell:Basically a simple IQ test and a set of questions to test integrity your level of integrity. No big deal very basic test |
What type of car? |
Good initiative |
TokyoBulls:In an ideal society, they should apologise and render an explanation. The drivers are partners in progress. Uber makes me tired sometimes. More like a robot with little human touch. |
govaz:1st responder |
Keep it up bro |
This is an eye opener. It simply highlights the current trend all over the globe. |
darmilolah:You don't need to fire up and down like the old men out dere. On Uber it's all about positioning. You identify a good location, stay there and go online. The pick up requests will come. With time you will discover more. |
Nice pictures. The battle in the north is a major set back for tourism. I package tours and I dare not mention a trip to the north. The perception is far from positive. We have a lot of work to do. |
protocol:From the business angle the car is perfect. Fuel efficient, strong and reliable. However uber customers are kind of "spoilt". They all want to take a ride in fancy cars for a cheap price .Go ahead and use the car for uber. However make sure the car is VERY neat and sharp. Paint it if the color is not good enough. Make it look good all the time. Make sure the AC is always pumping ice like a cold room. Then get a good driver. If you do this no problem. |
Itstyme:An agreed weekly payment is good for you. It will put the driver under pressure to deliver. But if your driver is new and inexperienced he will probably find it very difficult to deliver. For a new driver on uber it May take some time to understand the game. If your driver is new you can start with the commission model. Pay him between 20-25% commission. With time move to weekly delivery. |
Educative |
Product suggestion. Packaged Ogi also called pap or akamu. I assume it's a relatively new product. Got it from a supermarket in Ikeja. I have a picture. Retail price N70.

Good concept. Keep it up. I'm always happy whenever Transport is discussed here on Nairaland. I'm into transportation but willing to learn from other experts in the house. |
Emycord:What are you saying? |
wizlink:They will report you to the police and you may end up in jail for forgery. |
MY UBER EXPERIENCE (contd) First day at work I discovered the first secret about uber. 1. They offer cheap prices. Picked up a customer from Ikeja to Marina in the morning (Plus Ikorodu road traffic) and she paid just around N2,400 or there about. Don't forget uber gets 25% commission 2. They have a lot of customers The moment you drop off a client you may receive another request immediately. With this a driver is sure of multiple trips daily. 3. The customers absolutely love Uber Why not? Uber is good news for the customers. A nice ride takes u around town at a cheap price. This is more of a blessing to uber as it helps to boost market acceptance. 4. Uber is convenient and user friendly for the customer. You simply grab your phone and in a few minutes a driver is waiting at your door step. So sweet. 5. They give discounts and free rides. Regular cab operators like us really do not offer discounts and stuff. And of course everyone loves a free gift isn't it. With all the points listed above and from my interaction with uber customers I discovered that Uber has come to stay and the regular cab guys (like myself) stand no chance of survival. The only way out is to embrace change. Change our mentality first, then our business model. In fact uber is more like an agent of change in the taxi industry in Nigeria and the customer is the ultimate winner. The uber business model is interesting. It has its good sides but some flaws still exist. Next I will give some words of advice to intending drivers and partners. To be continued... |
dombosco:Visit the FIRS office closest to you. |
dombosco:Go to Oshodi (Lastma compound) and get a LASDRI Card too. Cost about N3,500 if you settle. You will get it within 3-4 hrs. Also go with 2 passport photographs. Then visit ubernigeria Website and choose a date for the test. |
If you can afford a 2006 car, consider joining Uber. Start up budget 1-1.5m. |
Keep it up |
I will love to share my story with the house here. Initially when uber started I really hated them. I was a major critic and I even expressed my opinion here. Basically I've been in the cab business before uber stormed the market. I started the business in 2013 so when Uber arrived I naturally saw them as competition. It's only natural. Then gradually I noticed a decline in my turnover, my customers were basically running to uber and I was gradually losing my clients. I noticed that uber prices were far CHEAPER than mine so of course my customers decided to switch. Uber also offered nice cars. So after a long period of reflection I decided to make a move. I still render Bus Hire Service and I can manage it with little supervision. I decided to join uber and I decided to join from the scratch to learn the Uber secrets. I decided to keep my car in my garage and joined uber as a driver ( even though my car is qualified to be on the uber platform) I just wanted to learn. Again I have a business policy if I want to learn something new I learn from the scratch. I never learn like a boss. I Start from the bottom. So I dropped my 2008 Honda in my house and applied as a driver on the uber finder platform. I wrote the test and got activated. I met a partner who has a Toyota Corolla 2006 model. I applied as a driver and we struck a deal. THE EXPERIENCE My first day on the job and what I discovered. I will be back..... |
TokyoBulls:I agree, they need to resolve it fast. |
Not bad |
Dungren:Now my opinion. The almighty government can not rely on guess work to implement a law or policy. It can not work. Vio officials only work between 9am to about 3pm. Anytime from 3pm you hardly see them on the roads. Uber cars are unbranded and drivers don't carry any tag that reads UBER. Uber has an office here in Lagos and it's well known to all. I foresee a settlement at the end of the day. |
Dungren:The big question is this. How will Lagos State government and Vio identify uber drivers? |
