TheMadame: In all my years of service in Nigeria I have never heard of salary inequaality between males and females. If you come into the establishment with the same qualifications you are started on the same basic salary and allowances. The only difference maybe hazard allowances to which men are sometimes entitled but this more or less evens itself out through maternity leave and other incentives for women.Once again there is no salary discrimination between men and women with the same qualifications in Nigeria-truth must be told and not twisted in order to win arguements.
On both sides...how do we know for sure? Unless everyone is disclosing their income...no one knows.

It's a moot point for both sides however their are other inequalities.
No I am not offended, after all that is my username n it is that for a reason. That law that applies to that New York woman also applies to a man. Btw when u get remarried alimony goes away
You are correct...any spousal support of all kinds goes away once a woman remarries unless specified in the divorce settlement.

It is usually retribution for abuse or civil suits.
Actually, that was an isolated case of a mentally unstable mother.

There are lots of feminists who are wonderful mothers
I agree. She crossed the line horribly. She can express her fight but her child shouldn't have to deal with that. Children do not need to hear or see everything.

There is a place and time for everything.

Jayvarley: The reasoning behind my idea is that by the repatriating of the African diaspora it would hopefully contribute to the rebuilding and development of Africa. As we all know what the Motherland has been through historically and this is one of the reasons why Africa has troubles today. I am tired of hearing how poor and troubled Africa is. Maybe the descendants of Africa can do Africa proud.
Africa does not need anyone to help build their continent...they need to get outsiders out and unite with each other first before rebuilding anything.

How can you rebuild when thieves are stealing resources?
I agree that women are so confused, especially the sub-breed of that gender that refer to themselves as feminists. In Nigerian Courts till this moment, u refer to a female Judge as ‘My Lord’. During Bar meetings, even female lawyers persist in addressing everyone present as ‘Gentlemen’, ladies inclusive, reason being the old English tradition of holding that ‘there are no ladies in the Bar’. At best, they adopt the modified version of ‘Gentlemen in skirt’ when referring to their fellow female lawyers. Why cant they demand a change in titular nomenclature to reflect feminism? Y shd a woman judge allow herself to be called ‘My Lord’ if not because she wants to be like a man?

And I think that’s what causes d confusion: feminists set out to create an identity for females, but instead end up demanding that they be seen as men. Y cant a woman who heads a chair be a chairwoman? They prefer to be chairmen too. Have u ever seen a man hunger to be addressed as a chairwoman? I think they shd feminize things that pertain to themselves instead of seeking to apply the masculine status quo to themselves. Makes no jot of difference if the standard u seek is still d male standard: u also want to be chairman, my lord, etc. and u say it isn’t a man’s world when ur quest to be different is in reality an aspiration to be like a man…

And that’s why feminism doesn’t even have support amongst the majority of women, at least here in Nigeria: the would-be disciples are confused too!
No offense to Nigerian women...I apologize for laughing ladies!

Poster...think about this for a minute and I know thinking is not a virtue common on NL. Imagine a million of women born and raised in a country that view women as inferior. They are taught by parents and society that a woman's place is on the bed and in the kitchen.

These women are in a country where public beating by a male is widely acceptable and they can lose everything if a man decides he is bored and wants fresh meat.

Now unless these women have families in other countries...why else would many who have no plan B speak out in a misogynistic country about equal rights?

Many are cowards and afraid of the back lashings which have displayed on this thread and it's apparent many are allergic to dictionaries and common sense.

Again ladies...I apologize for laughing.

Frankenstein: If feminists want equal rights, let them begin with 50-50 contribution to the family's finance among couples... They should buy cars, expensive wristwatches and other gifts for men just for them to go for a roll in the hay. Ha ha ha. Feminism my behind!
Guess what? There is a big world outside of Africa and women in other non-African countries are contributing financially to the household!

Oooooh guess what...women in other countries are working outside the home and many return after work to care for the family! Can you say the same thing for men? Be careful God Is watching! grin

geosegun: The cause of women/girls inequality with men/boys is caused by the society at large especially the women. Ask women if they were to have one child, which one would they prefer, either a boy or a girl. I'll tell you that 90% of the them will pick BOY. So tell me who is really the cause of discrimination? I have grown up to learn that women love to deceive themselves. They want one thing internally, but they would be professing another thing. Give them all they said they wanted even switch man/woman role to woman/man role. They would still come with another thing and say man is a weakling.

A wise man once said'' to this also I have seen under the sun that God has made man/woman perfect in his time but they have sought out many inventions.

To all feminist in the house, I wish you your heart felt desires but when you get one you'll realize that the condition is devoid of peace that you deserve. I rest my case.
Please tell me that you have supporting interview/survey data! I would love to read the interview of every single women!

That's like a non-Nigerian person saying he or she have supporting data that 90% of the Nigerian population have committed fraud, murder, scam, and infidelity.

Which sounds like a childish chagrin? Both.

Sweetlemon: Guys I beg don't mind those so-called feminists.

I dare any lady here who says she wants to keep her maiden name after marriage to marry Bill Gates son and still keep her daddy's name. And as for those who claim that it's because of Islam, I dare them to marry Dangote and still keep their maiden name! Are Turai Maryam Abacha Fati Abubarkar and those others married to powerful men not muslims?

Abegi! All na wash jare. They just like their own surnames name because of the weight it carries. Nothing else!

Like someone said, most of them are just hiding behind the facade to hide troubled pasts.
Any woman who changes her name ONLY to fully protect her access to money or wealth is a gokd digger. What do you expect a gold digger to do cross the hands that is feeding her?

Those are what I call..smart and insecure hoes. They will do whatever and keep their mouths shut.

Nothing to do with femininism boo.

White wedding was a tradition established by the catholic church in Europe.

Last time I have checked the map, Europe is on the same longitude as Africa.

Checking facts is smart thing to do.

Afam4eva: There's already gender equality just that some people want to take up a role that's not naturally theirs.
Please in your opinion define roles because it appears a woman expressing opinions that is not favorable toward the male species is not her role.

And if speaking is exclusively a "male" role...it is atrocious to see/read comments from male chatters that makes castration logical.

dasparrow: @Post

What is a feminist? huh
A male or female that supports the idealogy of equal rights for women in all areas of life.

For some reasons, some dumb ashes think that only women supports feminism and many will say those men are gay. Let us not forget many of the male chatters are gay so that means they support feminism if it is a gay thing. grin

One chatter thinks sharing surname of a groom is more important than the women in his family having the right to think and speak without having to wear a helmet.

Pathetic.
