Politics › Re: b by MrSly(m): 9:56am On Aug 26, 2017 |
life2017: If you have followed the timing and style of the unconstitutional and dangerous quit notice Arewa youth gave to igbos in the North, you will see the smartness and tact in how Arewa youth went about their quit notice.
First the timing of the announcement of the quit notice was well calculated. The quit notice was ordered when Nnamdi Kanu was already flouting his bail conditions with impunity without being arrested. It was also done when Buhari was away and Osibanjo was acting president. And the notice was said to be direct response to Nnamdi Kanu hate speech towards the North base on their evaluation of Nnamdi Kanu speech. With the timing they know it will be difficult to arrest them without also arresting Nnamdi Kanu. because any attempt for Osibanjo to allow their arrest without the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu will lead to massive protest in the North. Knowing that Osibanjo is not interested in arresting Nnamdi Kanu they also knew they cannot be arrested.
Secondly they use their quit notice to make it clear in a subtle way that Biafra and One Nigeria is all about Niger Delta oil. In their quit notice they said igbos in the five south east state should be allowed to leave Nigeria. Deliberately making Biafra about the five south east states, they were sending a message that what they care about is south south and not south east. To them by their own evaluation South East is parasite to the country and Nigeria is better off without south east. So they were simply using reverse psychology by accusing Igbos of exactly the same thing the igbos accuse them of.
Thirdly they use their quit notice to alert igbos of what may happen should Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB continue with thier current style of agitation. This has force more igbos to come out openly to declare for United Nigeria. Especially Igbos in the North and other part of the country. By this they were trying to paint the picture that IPOB is mostly supported by unemployed and unsuccessful igbos.
Finally the timing of the withdrawal of the quit notice. They have actually made attempt to withdraw the quit notice in the past after so much pressure from different quarters on them to do so at different time. But they usually end up refuting the claim they have withdrawn the quit notice . The truth is that they never had any intention of carrying out the threat. The quit notice was as good as withdrawn from the day they made the quit notice declaration in Kaduna. They were technically waiting for Buhari to return. They waited for Buhari to return to use the withdrawal of the quit notice as a gift and honour to Buhari. Their withdrawal is seen as their response to Buhari speech where Buhari condemned and denounced all forms of hate speech and ethnic agitation. With this they have make the coast clear for Nnamdi Kanu to be re-arrested should the government chose to do so without any opportunity for IPOB to claim why is Arewa youth not arrested. Such argument will no longer hold waters since they have withdraw the quit notice and no longer a problem. Nemo dat quod non habet. You don't give lectures on SMARTNESS when you are not even near being smart. |

Kazim88: The Presidency has advised proponents of restructuring to exercise restraint in their choice of words, saying issues are resolved through “established processes, not by abuses, insults or irresponsible statements’’.
Malam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, gave the advice in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday.
Shehu was reacting to opinions expressed by Nigerians for and against President Muhammadu Buhari’s speech on Monday on his return from a medical vacation.
He said that the call became imperative to avoid heating up the polity and causing acrimony across the country.
The presidential aide said that majority of the citizens welcomed the broadcast, and condemned those criticizing the president for not responding to calls for restructuring of the country.
He said that the president had no power to impose restructuring on the country by military dictate.
Shehu explained that National Assembly members were the elected representatives of the people who could handle agitations for restructuring and other constitutional changes.
According to him, the president is constitutionally bound to work with the national assembly to deal with such complex issues.
He reminded the critics that Buhari would not exercise arbitrary powers or bypass the legislature in taking such fundamental decisions.

nwabobo: Suspected suicide bombers have struck in the Muna area of Maiduguri, capital of Borno state.
A source disclosed this to TheCable, saying the incident happened around 2:50pm on Wednesday.
Details of the attack are still sketchy but officials of the Borno state emergency management agency (SEMA) and security agencies have reportedly moved to the scene.
This is coming 24 hours after President Muhammadu Buhari presided over a security meeting where he ordered service chiefs to tackle security threats in the north-east and other parts of the country.
In a nationwide address on Monday, Buhari had said his government would “reinforce and reinvigorate the fight against elements of Boko Haram which are attempting a new series of attacks on soft targets “.
The sect carried out a series of attacks during the president’s 103-day medical vacation in the United Kingdom.

Kazim88: The Arewa Youth Coalition has flayed the comment made by President Muhammadu Buhari that Nigeria must remain one.
The group urged the government to conduct a referendum to provide an exit door for those who did not want to be part of Nigeria.
Buhari had in a nationwide broadcast on Monday upon his return from London affirmed that the country was better off staying together.
But rising from a town hall meeting for the North East geopolitical zone, yesterday, the coalition disagreed with him on the non-negotiability of the unity of the country.
National Chairman of the coalition, Alhaji Yerima Shettima told newsmen in Gombe, yesterday, that Nigeria should create an exit door for the Biafra agitators by convening a referendum.
“The president just came back from his medical vocation. In normal circumstances, one should have expected him to take some time to have a clear review of situations in the country after spending 103 days abroad.
“His statement is a welcome development to some extent because there are issues; the unity of the country is being threatened. I think the focus of the president was basically on the threat to our national unity and those were the key issues he spoke about. In addition, that we would no longer tolerate anybody undermining the security of the country. Certainly, agreed, it should be that way as he felt. But I feel also that on the side of international law to which Nigeria is signatory, it is expected that government must create an exit door for those who feel they want to leave through a referendum and as stipulated in the 1999 constitution.
“It would not augur well if we insist on living with people who do not want to be part of the country and they keep threatening the unity of the country. It may even appear to the international community like a mockery.
“If the government is up and doing, let us abide by the demands of the international law by creating an exit door for those agitating for self determination,” Shettima said.
“Certainly, the IPOB cannot be said to be speaking for the South-East because they are less than ten percent of the Igbo communities who are willing to remain in Nigeria,” he said.
Shedding light on the October 1 quit notice issued to Igbo, Shettima lamented that the group’s message in the Kaduna Declaration was misunderstood.

We live cordially with them and ask any southerner living in the north he will attest how we harmoniously live together and respect one another. We of course prefer to live as a nation since it's what's destined by God, but we'll not tolerate any threats any longer from anybody. Let me repeat myself again that the northern declaration is just a wake-up call to awaken most especially the igbos to come back to their senses and either stay or leave. Simple!! And we can say that "kwalliya ta biya kudin sabulu" a Hausa proverb which mean to say aim has been achieved. Because shortly after the declaration, the igbos starts dabbling saying this and that not intending to depart northern territories. And look at our leaders, Emirs and Governors went against it even though it's known to them that the declaration is just a mere saying not fully intentional. But look at how the IPOBs publicly misbehave and non of their leaders could talk to them. Anyway I'm ready to take all your abuses, but I love you as Nigerians. Thank you Pls stop the rant |
Education › Re: JAMB Fixes Cut Off Marks For Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges Of Education by MrSly(m): 4:43pm On Aug 23, 2017 |
themomentng: The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has fixed minimum cut off marks for Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.
The minimum cut off marks for admissions into universities in Nigeria was set for 120, polytechnics and colleges of education pegged at 100, while that of innovative enterprising institutes was pegged at 110.
Institutions are, however, at liberty to raise their cut off marks for admission above the minimum set by JAMB.
Also, admissions into public degree awarding institutions for the 2017 UTME examination will end on January 15, 2018 while for private institutions, it ends on January 31, 2018.
Also, decisions on first choice candidates by universities will end on October 15, and second choice candidates will end on December 15; after which the remaining students will be available in the market place for other institutions till the January closing dates.
These decisions were taken at the 2017 Combined Policy Meetings on Admissions into Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria which ended on Tuesday.
The Registrar of JAMB, Ishaq Oloyede, said a Central Admission Processing System, CAPS, will be used to streamline admission processes among institutions, as it addresses challenges associated with the former approach.
Mr. Oloyede also said that Institutions could conduct dual mode system which involves both manual and the newly introduced CAPS.
He advocated a dynamic educational policy as related to admissions. “All over the world, there is agitation for dynamic educational policy,” he said. “JAMB only admits for National Diploma, not Higher National Diploma; so why should we use the same requirement for ND and BSC, that is unreasonable parity.”
“We should not be sentimental in fixing our cut off mark; we need not over-dramatise issue of cut off mark.”
He said candidates’ applications to study agriculture was very low while applications to study medicine and health sciences increased.
Speaking on illegal admissions, he said the process is now automated because the Registrar of JAMB must approve all candidates.
“About 17,160 students were admitted without JAMB across institutions in Nigeria,” he said.
The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, also formerly announced a lift of the ban on the conduct of Post-UTME examination as a prerequisite for admission into tertiary institutions.
“Cancellation of Post- UTME is a mistake,” he said.
He noted that banning of post-UTME led to a lot of irregularities by candidates and some institutions.
The minister explained that with the lifting of the ban on the conduct of the examination, institutions are now at liberty to conduct, while adding that fee for the examination should not exceed N2000.
He explained that the 2016 admission process was a huge success, while expressing optimism that government is working assiduously to make that of 2017 better.
Mr. Adamu noted that government is also making efforts to expand access and ensure equality in the education sector. He expressed optimism that a substantial number of candidates who sat for the 2017 UTME would gain admission into tertiary institution.
“Over 1.6 million candidates applied for degree courses, over 17,000 for ND as well as NCE,” he said.
https://www.google.com.ng/amp/www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/241139-breaking-jamb-fixes-cut-off-marks-universities-polytechnics-colleges-education.html/amp Of course since jamb will be the one to determine qualified students for admission. The cut off mark should be reduced to enable abokis who score arbitrarily low mark have their way to university. If you are in the southern university sorry, the competition still makes the cut off mark very high. |

amaechi2020: Am just wondering why should Ojukwu belittle himself to visit Buhari in a little known town of Duara to discuss Nigerian unity. Buhari lied against Ojukwu, the truth has been vindicated, Ojukwu and Buhari are not on the same academic pedestal. Ojukwu was an Oxford trained graduate, Buhari is not. Ojukwu was a graduate soldier, Buhari was not. Ojukwu like Azikiwe, Nelson Mandela, mahatma Ghandi etc was a charismatic leader, Buhari is not. Ojukwu growing up enjoyed life as a silver spoon kid, Buhari did not. During the war, while Ojukwu was a general, Buhari was a lieutenant. If Buhari claimed that he had an agreement with Ojukwu that Nigeria will one, why was there no press release after the so called meeting? Did Ojukwu secretly travel to Duara without informing members of his family? How can the two of them discuss issues bothering on Nigeria’s unity without involving other ethnic groups that made up Nigeria? At the time he (Buhari) claimed to have had the meeting with Ojukwu both of them were not leaders of any of the two ethnic groups of igbo and hausa. Simply put,Ojukwu was one of the opinion leaders of the East and Buhari represents same in the North. Non of them can take decision for their regions without involvement or support of other leaders or the masses. So Buhari goofed to have claimed that he had agreement with Ojukwu that Nigeria will remain one, with obvious reference to the fact that Igbos will remain part of Nigeria. This is a clear case of me an igbo man inviting Alhaji Umaru my hausa friend or leader as the case may be to my home town and after a lengthy discussion on Nigeria’s way forward, we agreed that federalism is the best system for Nigeria. Some years later i became the president of Nigeria, as a result of my bad policies that put the north in a disadvantaged position they started to protest against it and calling for division of the country and i quickly reminded them of the private meeting i had with the late umaru, one of their own, which they are not aware of, that they must remain part of Nigeria. Great analysis! Daura illiterates trying to play Igbo's with Ojukwu's memory. |

danduke85: I have been asked severally why I chose to stand against a fellow Igbo brother over the rejuvenation of Biafra dream. Several aspersions have been cast on me simply because I differ with the fraudulent approach of Nnamdi Kanu and his scamming of the entire Igbo nation in the name of Biafra.
First Kanu is self-centered, attention-seeking, greedy and highly opinionated. He lacks fundamental qualities of a leader. For instance, while mobilizing for Kanu’s release from detention and other IPOB leaders including Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu, and David Nwawuisi, we discovered that our wholesale strategy aimed at securing their simultaneous release from detention at the same time was not feasible.
Hence we changed strategy and focused agitations on Kanu’s release, with the aim that upon his release he will spearhead the release of other comrades in detention at the Kuje Prison. However, since his release, Nnamdi Kanu has hardly done anything to ensure the release of these fellows. He has hardly mentioned their plights not to talk of him initiating concrete action(s) for their release. Rather Kanu has made the Biafra struggle all about himself, his opinions and views.
Second, during a strategy meeting with Kanu’s lead counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor (Barr.), it was agreed that Kanu will abide by all aspects of his bail conditions, which came about after a lot of lobby and interface with relevant stakeholders. Amongst other conditions, Kanu was required not to grant interviews, involve himself in any rallies, and not found in a group exceeding ten (10) persons. In her ruling, Justice Binta Nyako warned that a violation of any aspect of the bail conditions would see Kanu return to prison.
However, Kanu has remained adamant and chauvinistic in his gross attempt to make himself the center of the struggle. He has practically violated vital aspects of the bail conditions, and if the government comes after him today, many well-meaning Igbo sons and daughters will not blink an eye. He has toed the path of violence and remained a threat to our collective political fortune. It wouldn’t make sense for us to lose on both ends, especially as the 2019 general elections draw near. Our stand still remains that we work together to ensure that Ndigbo gains her rightful place in the Nigerian project; we have examined it back and forth and come to this conclusion that we may be better for it.
Third, Kanu’s audacious call for a boycott of elections in Anambra State is not just appalling but a total demonstration of irresponsibility and a lack of focus. This singular posture has waned Kanu’s popularity amongst the Anambra people, where he commanded a large following until recently. The people of Anambra are ready to resist Kanu’s antics any day. Anambra has remained the shining light of Ndigbo in the past six to seven years, so the people are not ready to throw away their destiny on the basis of such uncertainties which Kanu and his group of agitators represent.
Fourth, with the launch of the rag-tagged Biafra Security Service (BSS), Kanu has publicly presented himself as a militant leader. This may come with its own consequence(s), as the Nigerian government may be provoked to act in ways that would see Kanu return to Kuje prison. The question now is what if Nnamdi Kanu is rearrested? My answer is – Ndigbo would go to sleep. Nnamdi Okwu Kanu is a scammer. He is a criminal mind who is out to take advantage of the same people he claimed to be fighting for. He is not worth the attention he craves for. Frank Eze

Is one storey building which the up was taking by d landlord and the ground floor is for me and one man and his wife. So we are not much. Maybe because before I moved in, my neighbour has been staying alone at d ground floor that they don't lock d bathroom while bathing especially the woman since d husband hardly stays around.
The woman should be in her late 20s or early 30s with a son. She still appears sexy much like other young ladies.
One day I woke up late and as I move out towards d bathroom the door was open and the bathroom is calm so I was not expecting somebody inside but as I walk pass behold my neighbours wife naked bathing. I immediately turned back and left. This has continued that she don't even care.
Sometimes while am cooking she will be taking her bath while d door will be partially closed or not.
But I observed if her husband is around she will be locking d bathroom very well while bathing but once her husband is off she continues. I don't know what she has in mind and I don't know what to do about it. Am scared one day am going to have sex with the woman.

While his followers can only run from Onitsha to Mgbidi,or at most Enugu.
Keep listening and following the criminal. It seems Queen Eliza and her UK doctors did not only work on PMB healthwise but also on his intellectual prowess. Hence he was diplomatic enough to avoid mentioning IPOB or Arewa or Niger Delta militants. But some zombie miscreants are already shouting Nnamdi Kalu, upandan. A name name PMB carefully avoided like a plague. DO NOT DANCE WHERE ANGELS FEAR TO WALK! |

With the arrival of president Buhari today, I have no doubt that Kanu will go back to Kuje prison as soon as possible, having caused enough trouble while President was out of the country. Dreamer! Ensure that you don't wake up. |

You probably do not know how much it has become dangerous as an Igbo man to say any good thing about Muhammadu Buhari, the man elected by a large majority of Nigerians to be their President. If you are not careful, you will be declared a sell-out or a saboteur! How can you find anything good in that man? You must have collected big money from the powers-that-be or you are an APC apologist.
“Mba!”…”Tufiakwa!” “What is wrong with this man?” Can he not see how Nigeria has scattered since Buhari took over? The economy has dived into recession. The Naira is now worse than toilet paper and everything is now so-so expensive. Can this guy not see that Buhari hates the Igbos and wants to eliminate all of us? He is a Muslim fundamentalist and wants to Islamise Nigeria. That is why there is no Igbo Minister! This his corruption fight is a ruse! He is punishing those people with money who buy things from Igbos. Do you know that no Igbo man is allowed to get close to Buhari? Look at all the people visiting him in London: Tinubu, Akande, Saraki, Dogara. Lawan. Did you see any Igbo man there? That is why we must have Biafra now. Enough is enough!” You remind him that Rochas Okorocha also visited Buhari and he sighs, looks at you with pity and asks, “Is Rochas Okorocha an Igbo man?”
If you think that I am exaggerating, then you don’t know what is going on. My people are incredibly worked up. A lot of the young people and the uninformed from my part of the country are being systematically brain washed by Igbo political contractors. The political foot soldiers have been told and retold that one Muhammadu Buhari is responsible for everything wrong with their lives. It is so pathetic that if you make any effort to engage them in any conversation based on facts, you run the risk of being punched in the face. It is sad that the people who are shouting that my people have been enslaved are at work enslaving the brains and minds of my people.
I actually tried to have a conversation with a brethren whom I thought went to school. With bulging red eyes and his fingers pointing menacingly at me, he asked why Buhari did not appoint any Igbo man as a Minister. I said to him that even if President Buhari wanted to do such a thing, he could not because the Nigerian constitution says that there must be a minister from each state of the country. My guy lashed at me with “You see… why then is he breaking the constitution? Is he bigger than the constitution?”
I quietly asked my guy if he knew that Geoffrey Onyema, a fine Igbo man from Enugu State, is the Minister of Foreign Affairs, one of the most important ministerial positions in any country and that Ogbonnaya Onu, former governor of Ebonyi State is the Minister of Science and Technology and Chris Ngige, well known former Governor of Anambra State, the Minister of Labour and Productivity. He was uninterested. I reminded my guy that Okechukwu Enelamah from Abia State is the Minister of Trade, Investment & Industry, a very important area to many Igbos and that in Buhari’s cabinet are such names as Onwuka, Ibe, Amaechi…
My guy fired back at me: “Why did the Igbos not produce the Senate President this time. After all, we used to have Evan Enwerem, Chuba Okadigbo, Adolphus Nwagbara, Ken Nnamani and even Pius Anyim?” I tried to explain to him that we Igbos may have shot ourselves in the foot by our fanatical support of the PDP, a party that has nothing to show for our fixated support. I asked him to name the APC senator elected by the Igbo people who would have become Senate President in the Buhari dispensation. My guy’s retort was that Buhari could have fixed it if he wanted to.
I verily believe that wherever you come from, east, west, north or south, we are all children of one God. I do not choose my friends based on tribe. They come from everywhere. It is however clear to me that there is something in the genes of the Igbo person that makes him resilient. Take us to the desert and plant us there and we will sprout, grow and bear fruits. Sometimes, it makes people unnecessarily afraid of us.
I have never depended on any godfather to do any of the things I have done in life. I have simply powered on with that unique engine that the Almighty has installed in the hearts of every Igbo person. Where other people see failure, we see success. Where people say, it cannot be done, we say ‘yes we can!’ Where others are afraid to go, we go. From a civil war, which we emerged without a penny, we are today Nigeria’s true Ministers of Commerce. Whether it is Alaba, Sabongari, Dugbe, Otuocha or Ariaria, we practically control commercial activities across the Nigerian nation. We have done this based on nobody’s handout but on our self-belief and unparalleled resilience. Even where there is no level playing field, we level the field ourselves and triumph.
I know that there are a lot of Igbos who genuinely like Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan not just because of his soft smile but because he was seen as the closest thing to an Igbo man being President of Nigeria. The 2015 election is long gone. The Igbo political contractors betted on Jonathan’s re-election. GEJ attained the presidency without any strong constituency and tried to get one by paying a pretty penny. The Igbo political contractors loved that. But they betted and lost. Buhari is not the kind of guy to ‘settle’ any of these guys who get stupendously rich for doing no work that any naked eyes can see. The Igbo political contractor is what is wrong with the Igbos today. He is self-centred, a spoilt child who collects and eats alone. Now that he cannot get his hands on any more ice cream, he is yelling like mad and it is all Buhari’s fault.
I am a very proud Igbo man. I do not agree with everything Buhari does but I do not hate Muhammadu Buhari, maybe because I am not a political contractor or because I will not allow anyone to enslave my mind. Yes, there are big problems in Nigeria, but when you look at it closely, Buhari is trying to do what the Igbos like. [s]He is trying to level the Nigerian playing field so that in the Nigerian ‘workchop’, everybody can chop according to his work. What is wrong with that?[/s] Brother just take a break, eat good food, take some rest, go out do some research on PMB. Perhaps after that you conviction may not remain the same. |
