GenAnsahCinC: I said 'former'. Meaning, if he wants to join to serve then his question about who seniors who is irrelevant since his aim is to serve.
At this stage, these are the kind of questions I expected of him:
1. What should I do and not do in order for my name to be shortlisted?
2. What items can I go to the screening with along side the required items?
3. What and what will we be tested during the medicals?
4. What should I do before, during and after the 3.2km race?
5. What is the psychological test like? The written and verbal test.
6. What is the command task like and what are the tips to scale the command task?
7. How many push ups and sit ups are we expected to do and what is the time duration for each?
8. What are the questions we will likely be asked when facing the panel?
NOTE: some times the panel ask questions outside ur scope. Some questions could be so funny and what u least expected. And at this point, what matters is how u answer the question and not if ur answer to the question is correct or not.. Take it or leave it, this dude has much to offer this thread. Hence, GenAnsahCinC as the SSAPRO (Short Service Applicants Public Relations Officer) I humbly tender apologies to those you unavoidably offended and those who unavoidably offended you. |

johnmarcel: like someone has no rigth to know wat his benefits will be wen he eventually joins Officer calm down, our temperaments are different. Mind you am not saying am in support of his backlash been a beneficiary but I just tend to ignore some things. You know you can't call the help line to ask if it's true one needs godfather to be enlisted. Many questions we can't ask the helpline, but the truth is all technical questions should be directed to the helpline. |

GenAnsahCinC: Why shouldn't you be in their shadows? Do you know what those boys go through since their first day of assumption in the Academy?
Which regular Officer brags? Don't say what you don't know. If there's any personnel that brags that should be recruits not cadets.
Who told you that boko haram are untrained? Are you aware that some bk boys are being trained outside the country.?
Are you aware that each bk boy is well armed unlike NA soldier who hardly gets equipments for war?
Have you being to the NE the heart of the war to see the weapons our soldiers are using and that of bk boys?
Speak don't come online to say what you don't know. Do recruits spend five years at the deport Zaria to get trained? I guess NO. Recruits spend 9months SSC also spend 9months. So I strongly believe if a recruit can be deamed worthy to be called a soldier then Short Service Combatant should also be deamed worthy an officer. (Lt Gen. Ishaya Rizi Bamaiyi wasn't a regular but given the opportunity he performed exceptionally well.) About bragging, I know what am saying sir. I attended NDA interview in 2012 and I saw how Terma 5 cadets were molesting SSC cadets at the dinning talk more of the name calling. It's just like the dichotomy between degree and HND holders, thank God the matter had been laid to rest. So we are hoping that the dichotomy between Regular and Short Service be resolved soon. SSC disengagement should be based on inability to pass exams or perform duty and not otherwise. Accepted Regulars are more physically trained but I doubt if they can also withstand the intellectual training we underwent in our various institutions. And finally, NDA RSM as at 2012 shared an experience of how a fresh 2nd Lt from NDA on peace keeping mission started shivering when he heard the gun shots of rebels and ran out from his hiding place almost exposing other soldiers. And I ask you, after all the NDA training? Am not here to argue or win an argument, all am proposing is fair treatment of officers irrespective of mode of entry. I wish everyone a successful application. |

Don't get me wrong, all am saying is that the system is not fair. We graduates ought not to be in the shadows of some officers called Regulars.
I hope someday the DSSC/SSC will metamophose into something like the U.S Marines. Yes the same Marines that tracked and brought down Osama Bin Laden.
Upon all the bragging by the Regular Combatants, the untrained Boko Haram insurgents are still giving them headache. #Thesystemisnotfairtograduates. |

If only I had the chance, I would have made the military secretary know about this forum. Youths dying to serve their father land but aspirations cut short by A. Age application Run Out Date B. Degree Certificate Run Out Date C. Professional Certificate barrier.
It's so painful, you want to live a righteous military life but somebody somewhere who does not know the yearning of the masses wants to retire you by fire by force even before enlistment.
-Person graduate for 2012 at age 21, he apply e no get because no NYSC CERTIFICATE. -2013 Application close before POP, he apply e no get still because no NYSC CERTIFICATE (22 YEARS) -2014 Person apply again but e no get because no godfather (23 YEARS) -2015 NO RECRUITMENT (24 YEARS) -2016 Person apply again but no show as usual (25 YEARS) -2017 NO RECRUITMENT (26 YEARS) -2018 CAN'T APPLY, RUN OUT DATE ON RESULT (2013 UPWARDS ACCEPTED) But still just 27 years. DSSC course of study not advertised, if advertised no certification.
Who have we offended, allow us serve our fatherland. |

GenAnsahCinC: Read the instructions on the site carefully and abide by them.
If u r 1minutes older than 27yrs by Jan you have a very little chance of being shortlisted for the NASB.
Though nothing is impossible.
Give it a shot.
But in case u get shortlisted, have in mind that while going for the NASB, u will be disqualified unless u have a green link on ur file.
The NA will rather pick a candidate who is below the required age than pick the one above the required age.
This is because of the ROD (run out date) of the army.
If you are settling for DSSC and ur not applying for any of these field (Medical, Legal, Education) I'd advise you go for NAF or NN DSSC. Their enlistment is on too. J I wish you all the best.. Chan sir Please sir can you post the most recent RUN OUT DATES ON RANKS? AND on what rank can DSSC officer attempt the conversion exams? |
