According to reports from France24, 49 people have been confirmed dead, including children, after a 28-year-old Australian white supremacist opened fire at a mosque in New Zealand during Friday prayers.

France24 says the gunmen, who identified himself on Twitter as Brenton Tarrant from Grafton, New South Wales, livestreamed the massacre which took place inside the Al Noor Mosque in Christchurch at about 1:30pm while the mosque was packed full with Muslim faithful who attended Friday prayers.

According to eyewitness, as the mosque attack was going on, there was another mass shooting outside Christchurch Hospital and multiple bombs were attached to three cars near the mosque.

Brenton Tarrant, the Gunman was seen in a video firing multiple shots at a crowd of Muslim worshippers as they try to flee. Witnesses reported hearing 50 shots from his weapons including a semi-automatic shotgun and a rifle.

A total of 30 people were killed at the Al Noor Mosque. Ten others died at the Linwood Avenue mosque, three of which were outside the mosque itself. A further 20 people were reported as seriously injured at the Christchurch Hospital emergency room.

The gunman posted an 87-page manifesto to Twitter hinting at a “terrorist attack,” before the attack.

Four people are in custody, including three men and one woman. One of them was arrested while wearing a suicide vest, while a man wearing military fatigues was arrested outside Papanui High School.

New Zealand Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern said there were no further suspects at this stage.

Police have described the situation as “critical”. They have urged people near the area to stay indoors and report suspicious behaviour.

An Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) vehicle has been reportedly involved in a crash while conveying some ballot papers to INEC office in Akwa Ibom state.

According to report, a vehicle belonging to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was involved in an accident on Tuesday, March 12th, at Abak along Ikot Abasi Road/School Road in Akwa Ibom state.

Eyewitness says that the INEC pick up truck rolled over several times due to excessive speed while it was being escorted by the police Hilux.

The vehicle was loaded with bags of Election materials including thumb printed ballot papers.

The driver of the truck sustained a severe injury including a broken neck from this crash alongside with the other men that were riding with him.

But, security agencies arrived the scene of the accident and evacuated the injured victims who were taking to the hospital. While members of the Abak Police Division conveyed the scattered ballot papers in their vehicle to the Police station.

Prof. Simon Odey Ering, the collation officer for Abi local government announced this while presenting the result for the governorship election in the local government.

According to the report, the governorship election in Abi local government area of Cross River State was cancelled in 23 polling units as well as other polling units in the state, following violence and snatching of electoral materials.

“16,170 registered voters could not vote because of ballot box and ballot paper snatching and other violence in 23 polling units.”

“Some of the affected polling units are in Imabana, Ekureku, Itigidi, Ediba, Ebom and Igoligoli,” he revealed.

In Odukpani local government area also, election was cancelled in 11 polling units owing to violence.

Mr. Ashiru Emmanuel, the returning officer for the local government area disclosed this while presenting the result for the local government area.

According to the collation officer, Dr. David Imbua, election was also cancelled in 16 polling units in Yakurr local government area due to violence.

Udom Emmanuel, the incumbent governor of Akwa Ibom State is currently leading in the governorship election results announced so far by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state.

INEC has so far announced results in 13 out of the 31 local government areas in the state.

Mr Emmanuel, who is seeking re-election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has so far scored 205,931 votes in the 13 local government areas, representing 73.9 per cent of the total votes cast in those areas.

Nsima Ekere, his main opponent of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has scored 72,742 in the 13 local government areas, representing 26.1 per cent of the total votes announced so far.

Governor Emmanuel has defeated Mr Ekere in all the local government areas announced so far, including Ikot Abasi where the APC candidate is from.

Below are the local government areas where results have been announced so far;

Ibeno, Urue Offong Oruko, Nsit Ubium, Okobo, Esit Eket, Onna, Uruan, Nsit Atai, Ikot Abasi, Obot Akara, Uyo, Abak and Ini.

According to report, INEC is yet to announce results in the remaining local government areas.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River, Gov. Ben Ayade has won the highest number of votes cast in five local government areas of the state in the governorship election.

The results are being announced at the State Collation Centre at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday in Calabar, the Cross River state capital.

Dr Frankland Briyai, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, the State Commissioner of Police, Comptroller of Immigration and other Heads of Security agencies were also present at the collation centre.

The five LGs results are given as follows:

Akpabuyo Local Government Area: the Returning Officer, Prof. Christopher Eklaki, announced that the All Progressive Congress (APC) got 4,524 votes, PDP polled 12,614 votes and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) scored 344 votes.

Ogoja Local Government Area: the Returning Officer, Dr Julius Adah, said that the PDP scored 28,798 votes against the APC that got 7,466 votes and SDP 408 votes.

Calabar Municipal: the Returning Officer, Prof. Francisca Bassey, declared the PDP winner with 15,524 votes against the APC’s 7,703 votes and SDP’s 465 votes.

Etung Local Government Area: the Returning Officer, Dr Raphael Offiong, announced that APC got 3,892 votes, PDP had 6,282 votes and SDP 46 votes.

Ikom Local Government Area: the Returning Officer, Mr John Ogabor, said that APC got 10,049 votes, PDP polled 16,862 votes and SDP 180 votes.

Ibhadode, however, announced a two-hour break to enable other LGAs that were far from Calabar to turn in their results.

Apostle Matthew Idongesit, the Senior Apostle of the Passion of The Cross of Jesus Ministries, has predicted a loss for the incumbent Governor of Akwa Ibom State and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate of the PDP, Udom Emmanuel, in Saturday’s governorship election in Akwa Ibom State.

While speaking at his church auditorium in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, the respected cleric, said it was shown to him in his meditations, after a seven-day fast to seek the face of God concerning the elections on the 9th or March.

He said;

“Every time there is a decision like this to be made about a very improtant event, I go into seven days of fasting and seeking the face of God concerning which direction he would be taking his people, and this time, it has been revealed to me concerning the fate of the people of Akwa Ibom State, that the APC candidate, Nsima Ekere, is God’s choice for the Akwa Ibom people.”

The man of God also highlighted that this was not the first time he is getting this message, and God had proven himself and eventual happenings have confirmed his message each time.

The cleric however, predicted a free and fair election and that, contrary to what everyone expects, the elections will be free and fair, and the will of God will be done as Nsima Ekere would emerge victorious.

The residents of Akwa Ibom will go to the polls tomorrow to determine who will be the next governor of the state for the next four years, and it has been a neck-to-neck battle between the incumbent governor and PDP candidate in the elections, Emmanuel Udom, and the immediate past Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) who is also the APC candidate, Nsima Ekere.

A politician was pursued into a bush by heavily armed gunmen to the extent that his whereabouts was unknown for over 2 hours in the bush.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate of Osun State House of Assembly in Ede South State Constituency, Hon. Olaniran Akanfe Atidade, reportedly escaped an assassination attempt on his life on Friday night.

According to findings, it was gathered that at exactly 11:25pm on Friday after rigorous meetings, Hon. Olaniran Akanfe Atidade drove to his father’s residence at Sawmill Allahu Lateef, Ede to meet the extended family members who traveled from far and near for the election, only to park at the gate and get attacked the hired assassins loaded in 2 Space Wagon Cars and a Toyota Hilux.

Hon. Olaniran Akanfe Atidade was pursued into the bush by the heavily armed gunmen to the extent that his whereabouts was unknown for over 2 hours in the bush.

But, luckily, he was rescued following the quick responses from the Nigerian Police, the Night Guards, Vigilantes and his supporters.

An attack was prevented on Desmond Elliot when some street boys who wanted the famous actor to stop and give them money.

On Saturday suspected hoodlums shot sporadically as they attacked the vehicle of Desmond Elliot, a Lagos House of Assembly candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The incident happened at about 3:00 p.m. at Akerele junction in the Surulere part of the Lagos where Mr Elliot currently represents in the assembly.

According to report, the attack is said to have been perpetrated by street boys who wanted the famous actor to stop and give them money. But the lawmaker decided to keep going. His vehicle was attacked and the windshield broken.

Supporters of Mr Elliot at a nearby polling unit, PU20, Ward 7, Surulere, quickly called in reinforcement to rescue the lawmaker.

Immediately he was rescued, thugs shot sporadically into the air, creating an even more tense atmosphere.

Police officers in a quick response, attached to the nearby polling unit called in armed reinforcement who arrived to calm the situation.

Ad-hoc staffers of the electoral commission, INEC, were advised by security personnel to conclude their vote counting early before the situation escalates.

Libaq Alabade, a 37-year-old herbalist has been arrested in Ogun state after human parts were found on him.

The herbalist, Alabade was arrested by operatives of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu’s Intelligence Response Team (IRT). Human parts which include a severed human leg, was found on him.

A tipoff from residents of the Ajuwon community in Ifo, Ogun state, led to his arrest. The residents alerted the police over suspicion that Alabade uses human parts for his rituals.

When a raid was conducted on Aladade’s house, it led to the recovery of human parts, including the severed legs of a female and male said to have been used for money rituals.

Further findings revealed that Alabade owns many houses in the community, some of which are littered with shallow graves, from where he allegedly exhumes corpses to extract preferred human parts for ritual purposes.

When interrogated, Aladade denied using human parts for his ritual works.

He said:

“This is a total set up by my known enemy, a fellow herbalist, named Segun. He had once told me that he would deal with me for exposing him to the police. I was doing security work as an OPC member. I used to help police to identify some of these dangerous elements in our society. Even in our association meetings, I used to emphasise these problems.

“Segun told me that he would show me for helping the police to arrest him. Yes, I used to inform the police of their atrocities because I cherish a decent society and I have value for human lives. He just set me up. I was arrested for killing people for rituals. I have not killed anybody. We have two graves in my compound. I have seven wives. Three died. I have five children.

“My work is simple; I have medicine for ‘manpower’, that can make a man ‘strong’ for 30 minutes of sex. One goes for N2,000 – N2,500. Let me advise the police. To reduce using human parts for rituals in Ogun State, they(police) should kill any suspect found with human parts after investigation had proved that the suspect really committed the offence or has the intention to commit.

“It is true that people are wickedly murdered for money rituals but I do not do it. I was set up by my follow herbalist because I reported him to the police.” He concluded.

Police sources revealed that the suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigations are completed.

Over N1.4 Million have been donated by Nigerians to support airport cleaner, Josephine Agwu, who lamented in a viral video recently after returning millions of Naira.

Josphine Agwu’s story went viral after she returned N12m to the owner at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos in 2015.

Josephine, an airport cleaner, found the huge sum in the toilet and instead of her to run away with the money, she decided to pass it over to the airport management.

This turn of event made Josephine gain popularity in Nigeria.

In the interview she said:

As you see me, I’m a person people know the whole world today. But see.

Nobody in Nigeria do what I did.

I return money four times in Nigeria. I’m a cleaner, the year 2014 in Murtala Muhammed, return 12 million, return 10 million, return 8 million, return 7 million.

But if na other countries, I’ll be an ambassador to telling youths that honest is paying. But now see. They close it. Nobody to remember it.

This week’s Monday has seen two cousins getting married in America after meeting and falling in love.

Metro UK has reported how a pair of first-cousins who fell head-over-heels in love traveled hundreds of miles from Utah to Colorado to get married. Michael Lee and his close relative Angie Lee traveled from their home in Eagle Mountain, Utah to Colorado tie the knot on Monday.

According to reports, their home state only allows cousins over the age of 65 to get married, but makes an exception for couples aged 55 if they can prove they are infertile.

Those rules are aimed at limiting the chances of children being born to first cousin parents with genetic abnormalities. First cousins share 12.5 per cent of their DNA, making them up to twice as likely to have a disabled child as a man and woman who aren’t closely related.

Michael and Angie finally got together last winter after 10 years apart, and say they are no longer worried about disapproval from their families. ‘We said OK this is crazy but we’re adults now, we’re single now, we’re just going to go for it and who cares what our family thinks,’ Angie told ABC4.

They are now petitioning for Utah to change its ‘antiquated’ laws so that other first-cousin couples can tie the knot. Those same rules mean their marriage is not considered valid in Utah.

Recalling how he first realized his love for Angie when they were kids, he said: ‘We were second grade. ‘I remembered I stopped her mother and said “I’m going to marry Angie.”
‘She said, “No, sorry you can’t, you can be friends.’

‘I’ve always felt that life wasn’t fair. ‘Why did the person I wanted to be with most, and who I had the most attraction to the most, the most natural feelings for, why’d you have to be my cousin?’ He added.

He continued: ‘No one I’ve ever been with will make me feel as perfect as she does. Her being my cousin and some of the responses is a small price to pay.’
