On Friday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), said it would hold the supplementary elections on March 9, alongside the governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections.

Festus Okoye, the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee stated this in a statement issued on Friday. According to the statement, the decision to hold the supplementary election was taken at the end of their meeting on Thursday.

Court Orders The Arrest Of Attorney General And Commissioner For Justice In Akwa Ibom

A bench warrant for the arrest of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Akwa Ibom State, Uwemedimo Nwoko, the Commissioner of Finance, Nsikan Nkan, the Accountant General, Mfon Udomah and a Cashier of the State Government, Margaret Ukpe has been granted by a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos.

The bench of warrant was granted by Justice Rilwan Aikawa at the instance of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), who told the court that the defendants are at large and the warrant was necessary to ensure their presence in court at the next adjourned date of March 18 and 19.

According to report, the four government officials are charged alongside the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Paul Usoro on 10 counts of conspiracy and conversion of an alleged N1.4bn said to be property of the State Government, which sum they reasonably ought to have known formed part of the proceeds of unlawful activity.

The offense was allegedly committed in May 2016. Usoro has, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and thereafter, admitted him to bail in the sum of N250 million with one surety in like sum.

Nigerian senate is predicted to have confirmed the retirement home of ex-governors with about 15 former state leaders returning to the Red Chamber.

While there has been been argument that Nigerian governors see the Senate as a retirement package, it has been revealed that the Ninth National Assembly will be getting 15 ex-governors as senators.

109 senators gathered across the country from the just concluded elections, will see the Ninth National Assembly getting 15 ex-governors as senators and they include Orji Kalu, Theodore Orji, Kashim Shettima, Sam Egwu, Senator Danjuma Goje, Rochas Okorocha, Ibikunle Amosu, Chimaroke Nnamani, Ibrahim Shekarau, Tanko Makura, Adamu Abdullahi, Aliyu Wamakko, Ibrahim Geidam, Abdul’Aziz Yari, Adamu Aliero.

According to information, two current governors, Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo) and Ibrahim Dankawmbo (Gombe) lost last Saturday’s senatorial election as they were defeated by the PDP candidates. It should also be noted that APC won 62 senatorial seats, while the PDP got 35.

The Nigerian soldier reportedly remained childless for as many as 12 years, but now has reasons to smile.

Reports show that the soldier’s name is Colonel Victor Beryo and he and wife are currently overjoyed and full of gratitude to God.

The army colonel was pictured in an elated state while proudly carrying his twin babies. He and his wife are seen in another, happily holding on to each other.
