About 150 Commercial motorcyclists on Friday stormed the Government House Calabar to protest and left behind corpse of one of their colleagues at the entrance of the premises.

According to reports, the motorcyclists overpowered a few security officials at the entrance of the government house, smashing glasses and doors at the reception, before leaving without the corpse.

The protesters, wielding sticks and clubs alleged that the deceased gave up on the way to the hospital after he was brutalised by the men of the Taskforce on Special Services, Governors Office.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the taskforce is headed by the Cross River Security Adviser (South), Mr Ani Esin.

It was alleged that incident occurred around Four Miles area of Ikot Ansa in the state capital.

As at the time of filling this report, a large number of security agents, comprising the police and military were battling to disperse the protesters.

Reacting to the event, the Police Public Relation Officer for the state, Mr Irene Ugbo said the late motorcyclist fell from his bike while being pursued by the taskforce and became unconscious.

NAN also reports that there is an existing law in the state that restricts commercial riders from operating on major roads in Calabar.

Such roads included Four Miles, where the incident occurred.

Commercial motorcyclists, however, constantly flout the restriction.

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has expressed dismay over the lingering ASUU strike.

According to Daily Post, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, on Thursday, weighed in on the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

Kanu lamented that the Federal Government allegedly budgeted N91billion for grazing reserves while nothing was allocated for education.

ASUU began its current strike on November 4, 2018 and the end to the industrial action seems not to be close as the Federal Government was yet to meet the demands of the aggrieved lecturers.

Reacting to the protracted strike, Kanu wondered why youths are still supporting leaders who he claimed, valued their “cows more than them.”

In a tweet, the IPOB leader wrote: “N91Billion for grazing reserves but nothing for education. ASUU is still on strike. Youths whose future are being stolen are in support of their oppressors who value their cows more than them.

“Nigeria is indeed a Zoo? No wonder Africans are easy to enslave, it’s genetic.”

After some parasitic worms caused his legs to swell to an unbelievable size, a man is reportedly tuning into stone.

The young dad is slowly ‘turning to stone’ after a rare condition has caused his legs to swell to twice their normal size.

According to the Sun UK, Shahid Hussain, 38, suffers from elephantiasis – a painful parasitic infection that’s made his limbs grow abnormally large.

It’s left him virtually bedridden, with his legs alone weighing more than 7st 8lbs.

The father-of-five, from Pakistan, said: “I was living my life quite normally but five years ago my legs started swelling.

“Initially, I thought everything will be fine but now the disease has left me virtually bedridden and I can hardly walk.

“I never imagined that my condition will be like this – I will be literally paralysed.”

Shahid was working at a car garage to support his family but since he’s been unable to work, they’re all having to rely on the charity of other family members.

His wife Fatima said that all of their savings have been spent – including the money they had saved for their daughters’ weddings.

“I sold my jewellery as well and we are dependent on our relatives now,” she said.

“We don’t understand what to do.”

Shahid’s family took him to several doctors in Karachi but they were unable to offer any help – telling him that he’d be better off heading to a bigger hospital in the capital Islamabad instead.

Due to their financial situation, however, there’s no way that Shahid can make that happen.

Fatima added: “Doctors told us we should go to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences in Islamabad for a surgery but we can’t afford the treatment there.

“We didn’t even have money to travel to Karachi, so how can we go to Islamabad which is a costly city and we don’t know anyone there who can help us?

“We are hopeful that people take notice of Shahid’s condition and come forward for our help.”

Nigerian army have successfully apprehended a Boko Haram terrorist with military kits in Borno.

The Gallant troops of 192 Battalion of the Nigerian Army, Sector 1, Operation LAFIYA DOLE, while on patrol in conjunction with the Civilian JTF, along Gwoza-Yamteke on Wednesday 30th January 2019, came across some Boko Haram terrorists attempting to infiltrate the general area.

On sighting the troops, the terrorists opened fire on them which lead to a heavy exchange of fire.

The gallant troops applied superior fighting skills and overpowered the terrorists and neutralised 4 Boko Haram terrorists including Adamu Rugu Rugu a very notorious terrorist, an indegene of Gwoza town, who had been troubling the law abiding citizens of Gwoza and its environment for many years.

The gallant troops also recovered 2 Machine guns and 2 AK-47 Rifles.

When the good news of the unprecedented feat by the gallant troops filtered into town, the residents of Gwoza trooped out jubilating and thanking the military particularly for neutralising Adamu Rugu Rugu and urged them to clear more such terrorists wherever they might be. Impressed by their performance, the General Officer Commanding 7 Division, who is also Commamder Sector 1, Operation LAFIYA DOLE, commended the troops for the gallant efforts.

In a related development, troops of 152 Battalion, Operation LAFIYA DOLE, today while on patrol and based on credible information, ambushed suspected Boko Haram terrorists along Kumshe-Usmanari road. During the ambush they neutralised one Boko Haram terrorist, while two of his accomplices escaped with gun shot wounds.

Similarly, troops of 195 Battalion, Operation LAFIYA DOLE, in conjunction with Police Mobile Force and Civilian JTF, while on cordon and search operation today at Umalari general area, arrested a suspected Boko Haram terrorist, named Mohammed Maina. He was found to be in possession of military kits and Mobile Police Force uniform. He has since been handed over to 7 Military Intelligence Brigade for further interrogation.

A landlord has allegedly given a staunch supporter of Atiku Abubakar a Nigerian man quit notice for supporting the PDP presidential candidate.

A staunch supporter of Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, a Nigerian man, Shehu Audu on Twitter has been issued a quit notice by his landlord.

According to Shehu Audu, the landlord is a die-hard fan of President Buhari, the presidential flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

In his tweet, he wrote: “I have just been served quit notice by my barrister landlord who is from Zaria, Kaduna State, and a die-hard Buharist, simply because of my open affiliation and support to the @OfficialPDPNig and his Excellency @atiku”

He also stated how petty the landlord is.

“A landlord so petty he even eavesdrop on me. I posted this five days ago.”

“The man said if I don’t leave he will drag me to Court. I told him that would be uneccesary and needless.”

Shehu Audu went on to debunked claims that his complain is just an attention-seeking means.

“Most people don’t know the danger we face in this clime today. Some are even saying I’m lying, that I’m only seeking Atiku’s attention.”

There is something to smile about following the passage of N30,000 minimum wage as Nigerians workers rejoice.

The sum of N30,000 has been approved by House of Representatives as the new national minimum wage.

The approval came after the adoption of the report by the ad hoc committee set up on the New Minimum Wage Bill presented to the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday.

Passing the bill for the third reading on Tuesday, the lawmakers unanimously approved the N30,000 recommendation by the committee in consonance with the resolution by the tripartite committee set up by the President.

Buhari had in the executive bill sought the approval of N27,000 as against the N30,000 agreed by the stakeholders.

An unusual step has been taken by a woman after a misunderstanding with her man by destroying his expensive car.

The woman left many people shocked after destroying her man’s £30,000 (N14 million) car after he upset her.

She used a metal post from a bed frame to knock in the windshield of the BMW 3 Series wagon, Dailymail report.

Three large holes were pierced in the front window of the car, which costs about £200 to replace.

She then continued around the car, knocking in the lights and denting the bonnet as shocked neighbours watched.

The woman also destroyed both wing mirrors with the total damage likely to cost thousands to repair.

According to a Facebook user, Julie Whitley, wrote on the social media platform: ‘Looks like a lady with an axe to grind.’

The attack seemed planned as another woman kept watch and the perpetrator had a getaway vehicle stationed nearby.

As if destroying the car wasn’t enough, the woman then seems to try to do damage to the alleged partner’s property, with large thumps being heard against a door out of shot.

After her onslaught, the two women hop into a red Vauxhall and zip off before police arrive.

On her path of destruction, the woman appears to taunt the man who seems to be in his house.

She calls out something as she pierces his windscreen and the person recording the scene remarks on the fact that the man didn’t come out to face the woman.

As the three people watch from the window, one man says: ‘My legs are actually shaking.’

People were torn on whether they agreed with the scorned woman’s behaviour.

Asim Siddiq said: ‘Disgraceful behaviour, there are ways to deal with a situation and this isn’t the way.’

While others found the video funny, Emily James Thomson added: ‘Next most expensive thing to your house, destroying someone’s property? Absolute idiot.’

Donald Duke, a former governor of Cross Rivers State is back in the presidential race following an appellate court ruling.

The appeal court has declared Donald Duke presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

The former governor, Mr Duke had been declared as the presidential candidate of the party after the primary election held in October 2018 in which Mr Gana was also an aspirant.

However, a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, had on Friday, 14th December declared Jerry Gana, a former Nigerian Minister of Information, as the presidential candidate of the SDP.

This was after Mr Gana had instituted a case against the result in court, basing his case on the zoning and rotation formula of the party.
