texanomaly: To be honest I never gave it a thought why Christ's birth is celebrated on December 25th. I knew it couldn't be around that time, but no one knows when for sure. I just figured someone picked a date. I guess they did. You are right. I'm sure Christians wanted to cover up a pagan holiday.
