CelebritiesMy Nairaland Gala Award by mrugly(op):
Good day, Nairalander. Last year, I started my Nairaland Man Award for the most outstanding award for man and also the opposite (2020). This year won't be difference.

Unlike last year, this year award will not be split in to 2 separate pages (Outstanding Man Award and Worse Man Award) but the award will be merge together in one page. Also, the award of the Worst Man of the Year Award will be rename to the Poo Award (just to show that this is just a joke and nothing more). Also, this year award will include other awards like Funniest Award, Fela Award (Controversial Award) etc.

CelebritiesMy 2020 Worst Man Of The Year by mrugly(op):
2020 is a year to be forgotten in a hurry for most of us. Covid19 ushered us into 2020 where the government forced us to stay at home and forbade us not to go to religious centers. After like 6months of the lockdown, the government eased the lockdown and then the #endsars protest took over. In all these, some individuals also stood out to be another pandemic in our society. This list is in no particular order.

1. President Mohammedu Buhari: for not speaking in time when the protest was still at the early stage(before it turned violence) and also for not visiting Borno during the Zabamari massacre and the Kankara boys kidnapping incident when he was in the state.

In short, insecurity is on the rise under his leadership.

2. The Nigerian Army: during the protest, they invaded the Lekki toll gate and shot sporadically. When accused of killing inocent citizens, they kept changing the story. From we DIDN'T GO THERE to we went There To Protect The Protesters to WE ONLY DISPATCH THEM to We Didn't Go There With Live Bullets to WE WENT THERE WITH LIVE BULLETS etc.

3. DJ Switch: She was the DJ doing the Lekki Massacre. She with the likes of Falz turned the peaceful protest to violence when they gave us wrong information. The night the incident happened, she claimed that she counted 78 dead bodies, later she changed the figure to 15, later to 2 then accusing the government of trying to kill her.

Do you agree with my list and if not, your own list

CelebritiesWho Is Your 2020 Man Of The Year? by mrugly(op): 1:53pm On Jan 01, 2021
Yesterday see the end of 2020 and despite the year being a year many of us wants to quickly forget and move on, there are still some people who stood tall in 2020.
For me, so many people stood out but these two men stood out the most for me in no particular order.

1. Babagana Zulum: the incumbent governor of Borno state. For me, the man is the best man in government for 2020. He publicly accused the military of giving BH toouch freedom to operate (of which he nearly pay with his life). He called for the reformation of the secondary schools in Borno.

2. Razaq Lawal, head of the Nigerian consulate in Guangzhou, Guangdong province of China, has tackled Chinese officials for seizing the passports of some Nigerians in the country.

In a trending video, Lawal was seen addressing a Chinese official he referred to as “director”. He accused the country of also discriminating against Nigerians by quarantining them illegally.

Even in our country, the Chinese treat us like shit not to talk of their country.

This incident happened during the corona lockdown in China.

You just blabbed. The South West preferred the AD to the PDP. Ekwueme sacrificed his ambition to see that Obasanjo became the standard bearer of the PDP despite the fact that the South West preferred the AD.

Use common sense.

2019 presidential election was rigged. Most Yorubas didn't vote for Buhari in 2019. The same scenario played out in Lagos where Tinubu used thugs to disenfranchise Igbo voters.
Thunder fire you if you quote me again

SpecialAdviser:
In 1999 when Obasanjo won election, how many votes did he get from South West. In fact what work did South West do for PDP for them to get the ticket? Most of South Westerners supported Buhari for better for worst just for the ticket. Refusing to condemn his short coming just for 2023 ticket. Is that not stupidity? Will Buhari even take you serious if you fail to tell him the truth when he is misbehaving.
Tell me what work the Southeast did in PDP pre 1999?

Don't you know that at that time, PDP was newly created, so can they know if the southwest will vote for them? Just like APC don't know if the southwest will accept APC in the 2015 general election.

Yes, in 1999, the southwest gave PDP the lowest numbers of votes just like southeast did to APC in 2015 but what happened in the 2003 elections? PDP won all the southwest States except Lagos but in 2019 elections, you still gave APC the lowest numbers of votes.

In fact, PDP ruled Ogun state for 8 good years, what of oyo state? Also, PDP ruled for 8 good years (infact, the present governor of the state is PDP). This also extends to the other states in southwest except Lagos.

In the 2003, 2007 and 2011 presidential elections, PDP won almost all the states in southwest.

Oya tell me what good the southeast has done as a region for APC? APC had been ruling Imo state for the past 9 years. Oya, add the others

How many votes did Yorubas give the PDP in 1999, since in your warped narrative, everybody had clean hands in 1999? Name the key Yoruba personalities that helped to found the PDP?
Democracy returned afresh in 1999 and at that time, nobody can be certain of who will win the election and the party must present candidates and the two parties presented yorubas(how will PDP know before hand that the southwest will vote for AD?) Since they are newly formed.

Bros you have common sense, use it.

mannyiyke:
You're untruthful to believe that everyone must vote for Buhari even when he didn't perform? Is that how democracy is run? Even most Yorubas didn't vote for him in 2019.
How of the six states in southwest, APC won 4 states. So where did you see most yorubas didn't vote for APC?

At the end of the day, you sha want the APC to give you the presidential ticket? You can have it and see what will happen in the election
PoliticsRe: Fashola: APC’s Zoning Agreement Should Be Respected In 2023 by mrugly:

How many votes did the Yorubas give the PDP, yet Obasanjo became the president in the PDP?

Ekwueme played a pivotal role in the founding and sustenance of the PDP in 1999, but Obasanjo came right from prison and became the president.

Yorubas hated the PDP, yet Obasanjo was made president by the PDP.

You Yorubas are extremely greedy, and that's your undoing!
In 1999, everybody had a clean hand, because, democracy was about returning to Nigeria after 29years, so new political parties were formed (as at then, nobody knows who, which region will follow).

2. Then, there was an agreed consensus then, that the president must come from the yorubas (this was done to compensate the yorubas for the June 12 election cancellation) meanwhile in the case of APC, when it was newly formed, everybody too has a clean hand to join the APC but you refused and tagged those Ibos who joined APC as not the true sons of Ibo land and in the 2015 election, you gave APC a vote that is less than 200,000 in the whole eastern region(Abia gave him a total votes of 13, 394, Anambra gave him a total votes of 17,926, Ebonyi gave him 19,518, Enugu gave him a total votes of 14,157 and Imo gave him a total votes of 133,253) and while in the 2019 election, despite the president's promise to you people that if you vote for him, the next man to run for the presidency in APC will be an Ibo man, you people still refused to vote for him. Common you people are now expecting them to give you the presidential ticket. Have you forgotten the adage? You will reap what you sow in both APC and PDP. You have a good chance in PDP and you a bad chance in APC

Please equity demands that South Eastern Nigeria should be given a chance.
You are talking of equity as if the Easterners deserve that in APC? What is equity? Equity means fairness. In politics, you can only be fair to those who belongs to the party manifestoes. What does this mean? Just like God send the rain on both those that love him and those that hate him, so also, you carry out economic policies that every facet of the community not just your followers alone but your critics as well because they are part of the community as well and just like God also reserve some blessings for his children alone(blessings like salvation), this kind of blessings can't be extended to God's haters so also a party can not extend the party political posts to its haters.

The Easterners gave APC the lowest numbers of votes in both 2015 and 2019 elections and you want the party to zone it's presidential ticket to the east? That is impossible. Easterners can claim that in PDP, but certainly not in APC.

Besides, the issue here is that some northerners are thinking of retaining the power.

This has nothing to do with the Easterners

READ TO THE END

I want to let the roundly primitive Fulani supporter of APC puppets of British Neo-colonialism in Nigeria to understand that oppression never pays & it comes with consequences. In 1964, you oppressed the West & got Operation Wetie. In 1967, you oppressed the East & got the Biafra War. Today, you’re oppressing #NigerianYouths because of #EndSARS. Consequences abound, you will get that thing you are looking for very soon. #Lekki & #Obigbo will live in infamy.
The Hausa peasants allowed you to deceive them into thinking you were helping them fight corruption in their land but by the time they woke up from their stupidity, Gobir a Hausa town became Sokoto a Fulani town. All Hausa kings of the legendary HABE monarchies slaughtered in a Fulani coup and replaced by alien Fulani emirs. Hausa kingdoms became Fulani emirates overnight. What a shame!
The same thing they did to Hausa people they did to Nupe people of Niger State too, today they are slaves to the supporter of APC. That is why Babangida thinks he is Fulani when in actual fact he is Gbagyi. The same way they subdued Gbagyi people of Abuja and surrounding states. Exactly how they intimidated Igala and forcibly converted them to Islam. The same way they are now using the likes of the little demon Wike to encircle and take-over the coastal regions of Biafra.
Birom people are almost extinct courtesy of Fulani Janjaweedism. Tivi nation is putting up some measure of resistance but as always too little too late. Igbira and Birom nations have both been swallowed up and Jukun ethnic group is fighting to remain autonomous from the hegemonic influences of the caliphate.
A sizeable chunk of Yoruba territory is under Fulani domination in Kwara. Only Biafra agitation is preventing the emasculation of the entire south.
Youths from all these subdued ethnic nationalities are now wiser. They make up the Nigerian youths now seeking an end to Fulani impunity through street protests. Join them today let us all #endsars and brutality of what is left of the uniformed hoodlums in Nigeria Army and Police

You're right, I agree, we've all made mistakes one or the other in the building of the nation, that's why we have to get it right in our generation, we cannot continue like this, I'm only trying to bring up a discussion I feel is going to work for the south, I feel the north will always resist any southern ideology about governance and this doesn't have to do with just their leaders, most from the followers, imagine the aboki in my area telling me Buhari is the president to ever rule and He prays he keeps ruling, I just lost hope with the north and that's the same thing a lot of them will do if given the opportunity to vote again, I just pray we get it right this time around, my mind is focused more on the south, I feel the north is gone, you can't easily change an ideology from a set of people...
Before you solve external problems, you should always start with solving internal problems. Before you talk of people's hating on you or people picking up quarrels with you easily, first of all, think of what you are doing as a person that might disgust others or what they find irritating in me. you see it's not about comprehension here. one thing I've always known about the truth is that it will prevail, I'm not blaming the south-west for it in totality, however they need to be blamed, the reason as at when they were doing it, it seemed very right to them that they were doing the right thing, the best thing for the south west to do is to reconcile with the south-east to make the progress that the region is supposed to, let me give you an example, in 2014 I was and strong supporter of Buhari, I mean I so believed in him coming to change things in the country, infact some of my friends started calling me Buhari, when He won I was so happy, fast-forward to early 2017, my eye was clear that they had no good agenda for this country, I felt sad for supporting the government and accepted that I was wrong about Buhari, that if any of my friends challenge me I will just accept that I made a mistae and start discussing on how the country can be better with a better leader, so basically that's what happened here, the south west should accept that they've made mistakes with the south east and unite and path a way forward since they now know who the real enemy is, Have you ever unknowingly supported a wrong person thinking you were right only to later find out that the person you opposed was the right person, what do you do as a right thinking person is try to reconcile with the person you opposed and path a better way of handling such next time, so please don't look at it like I am just blaming the south west for knowingly doing it, people make mistakes, but I tell you it really hurts when such happens if you are in the shoes of the person who is blamed wrongly....
Everybody that ever votes or voted in Nigeria has to be blame (dead or alive) and this also extends to our grand fathers (I say this as to what you say) because, most governments that ever rule Nigeria did nothing. In 1960, people voted for Tafawa Balewa/Azikiwe government which failed Nigeria woefully (the foundation they laid was a faulty foundation built on top of tribalism) and this led to the first of many coup that rock Nigeria. Shagari was a bad option for Nigeria but people voted him in and from that moment on, the Nigeria economy start a new dimension (which we are experiencing today). What of 1999 election, wasn't we who gave Obasanjo back the mandate? After all, the great Fela Anikulapokuti had warned us alot about him in songs(remember army arrangement, ITT etc). Didn't he privatised almost everything in Nigeria? What of Ya'adua? Didn't last long before death snatched him? True, but he had the chance to revalued Naira when Soludo came up with the plan but he rejected it. What of Jonathan? He came with his slogan I HAVE NO SHOES and everybody voted for him. What did he do? Didn't he add more to Nigeria's problems? Was it not under him billions of dollars stolen with the Madueke stuffs? Have you forgotten so soon that there was a protest under him as well and just within 7days of protest, he unleashed soldiers on the protesters?

With all this, do you expects the yorubas to keep nagging and mourning that the Ibos sided with Balewa instead of Awolowo in 1960? A reasonable person will say no. Why? It was a choice for each easterner to make and they did. What of 1979? Didn't your people sided with Shagari again against Awolowo? Should the yorubas murmur and call you Judas Iscariot? No. Why? Your choice. 1999, Obasanjo won courtesy of the North and southeast coalition again for the 3rd against Olu Falae. Should they nag? No. Why? Life is all about choice. In 2011(I intensionally omitted 2007 because it is believed to be a rigged election), didn't the southwest and the southeast came together (first time) voted massively for GEJ? Should the north complain of betrayal? No. Why? Our choice. In 2015 and 2919, the southwest and the north (for the 1st time also) came together and vote for who they want. Why then do the east complaining now of betrayal?

Common Daniel, Nigeria problems started long before we came into this world(only if you are born post independence)

My point is the south west and part of south south have betrayed the south east twice and this is where we are as a nation today, the entire south is learning a very brutal lesson and it will continue till the entire south unite, the problem in this country is people don't go through history to see patterns, behaviour, reasons of past governance and the the attitude of certain interests of governance from the north, this has been going on for as long as you can imagine even before the Biafran war, study history and you will see a lot...
If you are conversant with your Bible, have you ever read where Jesus Christ was blaming Judas Iscariot for His arrest?

Go get yourself a life Mr Saviour

If you seek the truth you will find,

Just letme show you the truth except you want to
Shy away from it
From which source? And how many sources? Is it from a credible source?

Don't just read for the sake of what you wish to believe. But read to establish the truth. Am a Yoruba man(an Ijebu man to be precise), what we are taught in schools is different from what I believe in now(am talking of the story). In Yoruba land, we were made to believe Oduduwa came from the sky and that the Benins came to him to ask him to also rule them and in my mind, I was thinking, do the Benins don't see anybody from their tribe to rule them? Why come all the way from Benin to beg a foreigner to rule them and I make my research and found out about the Benin version and I taught the Benin version of Oduduwa have more sense.

Again, this story you are talking of is a story that have lasted several centuries, even before the Whites came to Africa(it wasn't written down, just oral and remember, the first man to write in Nigeria was former king of Benin Kingdom which was in the 17th century, if I could recall and this story was and has existed before he was born)

If you seek the truth you will find
What is the point you are now trying to drive at? There was nothing between Ife and Benin? To you, YES, to me, NO.

Stop forcing your opinions on others

Thanks for this. There are many stories regarding this. I will go and read more about the story from the Benin point of view. Thanks. You are one of the very few Great nairalanders I have met. This is how its suppose to be where we can constructively give our points.

Thank you, you earned my respect.
You are welcome. Respect!!!
