When you fly into Lagos at night, you will appreciate how many people are homeless. Loads of people just laid outside, withing a loose sheet to cover them.
Then you think of the beggars and all those who live under all the Lagos bridges. The homeless population in Lagos is no less than 1 million.

Kano is even in a worse situation than Lagos as homelessness in Kano affects predominantly children under 18 years. The homeless population will be no less than 1.5 million.

The other states are less affected but cumulatively, our total homeless population is definitely in excesss of 4.5M

2. China buys US bonds because:

1. They want to earn interest on the money invested

2. They want to be able to have strategic influence on the US economy. So, you ask, how. Let me explain:

If China buys bond, let say at the foreign exchange rate of 1USD to 10 Yuans, and let us say they buy 10 bonds (let say 1US bonds is sold at 1USD). This means China will pay US 10dollars to be able to hold 10 US bonds (100 Yuans). Now, if US makes China angry, just like it is happening now due to tarriff, China can sell off some of their US bonds which will make US dollars to lose value (weaken US Dollars) and increasing the debt of the US. Though, in the process, China too will lose because the foreign exchange could now be 1USD to 15 Yuans - which means China will need more Yuans to get 1USD, all the economy of the world will be dragged down in the mess. So, China not selling a significant portion of their US bonds, will maintain and preserve the foreign exchange reserve ratio of Yuan to USD, but now that they are angry, they are selling US bonds which they hold, and the value of the USD is going south.

Summary: You should not have said China is buying US bonds because they want to stabilise Yuan, but rather one of the reasons China is buying US bond is to stabilize their Foreign exchange reserve (which is very different from what you typed in your post).

China has lot of inflow due to their active manufacturing base. Thus, instead for the excess cash to lie idle, they can afford to buy US bond which the US would be paying them interest on - in that way they are making more money from it.

I strongly advise you that whenever you read anything, digest it, dont just swallow it hook, line and sinker.
Right now, China is dumping USD. If it is to maintain their reserves, will they be dumping US dollars. Due to the tarrif that Trump imposed, they are dumping the USD now in order to undermine the US dollars. Most of the debt is actually internal debt and not the type of Debt Tinubu govt owes ..the US does not go around borrowing from countries like APC govt does ... most of it are just IOUs to U.S. banks, pension funds, insurance companies, and even the Social Security Trust Fund that hold Treasury bonds.
