It is not that easy anywhere anymore. The goal of these advance nations is talent hunting. In the 80s and early 90s, student visa is the way out to pull talents from other places. But since developing nations have found ways to cheat, it has been stopped. Even some years back the UK almost turned student visas to tourist when over 95% students are forced to leave. And many used it to cross over to Canada. Luckily, the UK has opened the door for students again. To me, the UK via student is the best option, but you must have the money. The main hindrance now is forex.....Tinubu don knock everything. Too bad.

In short, if you don't have the money, it is hard. Also, you can't cheat anymore except you have the brain to either get a scholarship or apply in one of the available employment categories. And most people don't still qualify. Truly, this is what they are aiming at: to pick the best. It makes sense.

The only available routes are for qualified people who can meet up with their requirements. First, they must have enough savings in forex to thrive there (not just survive), or have skills they need there.

So, my post wasn't for everyone but for very few selected people. So, I am sorry if anyone does not qualify.

Researchers, entertainers, content creators with proofs, students with either scholarship or money (even the US grants partial scholarships only to top schools or full scholarships to non top schools now....they have started refusing partial scholarships into non top schools), and health related visas. Most people who are qualified know they are, and most aren't even desperate. It is like saying they want those who are already kings or children of kings in other places. So, some percentage won't even bother to apply because they don't see the reason. Imagine asking a professor who is a king here and has several other non immigration visas to relocate there and do 'yes sir/ma" when they worship him here. Many will not find it wise to do so.

Another issue is that those developed nations deliberately allow illegal immigrants just to do menial jobs for them, but robots are taking over many of these repetitive jobs. I predict that if Trump is successful with his radical change, rather than pay $30 per hour to many fruits pickers on farms, farm owners would invest in fruit picking robots. Self driving will replace ride-sharing drivers very soon so that illegal migrants aren't needed to drive them around anymore. Same way restaurant waiters might not soon be needed again. Gone are the days immigrants are used to offload and upload heavy goods in warehouses because robots have taking over.

Well I think there will still be loopholes, and laws may still change to favor some menial jobs again, but we are nearing the end. Things have changed.

What are the next areas the poor can explore? I don't know yet, but I am sure there will still be loop holes.

In the interim, I think health care is still where the poor without innovative skills can tap into, especially the care visa option. Though, the UK, Canada, and other places have made it tougher, but as long as they don't have solutions for caring for their aged citizens, they will still make the rules easier soon. So, interested people should just make sure they are ready with their legal documents intact. This is my suggestion. Personally, I predict that something will happen in the UK very soon that will force NHS to force the government to allow certain number of care-givers enter again. Why? As long as the British themselves aren't interested in the job, and as long as most who have entered now have secured indefinitely stay. After securing indefinite stay, they also stop doing it. In my view, they presently have sufficient care workers, but in the next 2 to 3 years, another set of thousands of care workers will be allowed to enter.

As for the US, I think it is just a waste of time if one doesn't fit into one of the categories I described above. Even, you will see this is true from what Trump is doing. Apart from seeing him as a racist (which I am not sure yet), while he is chasing other immigrants, he wants the white South Africans to relocate there. Sure, it will strengthen pro-white republicans, but he is primarily targeting wealthy South Africans, the majority of whom are farmers. So, he stylishly wants to hijack South African food security mechanism. That's just it. Quite smart. People just see it as a form of racism, but that guy is damn smart.

What can you offer? If you think you can't offer anything yet, you can actually learn a skill. Anyone can do it. Before you know it, within 5 years, you will move. But at the end, you may not want to leave. That's the thing.

My message in a sentence is: Everyone should learn a distruptive or an evergreen skill.

Don’t advise people to go in for student visa to enter the UK. What happens when the student visa runs out. They will apply for a two year graduate route. This is where it gets interesting. Most people who go in via student visa are not interested in learning. They outsource their courseworks. They know nothing. So how will they pass interview to secure jobs in one of these shortage occupations list.

There are many of them who graduated with “distinctions” in their masters but are still looking for jobs since they can’t pass any interviews. Why? They didn’t earn that “distinction” grade, they paid someone to do it for them. Now the hen has come home to roost. After 2-year of graduate route, UK govt always tell them to leave the UK and go back to their countries. Back to square one. It beats me why someone will pay like 15,000 pounds in tuition without gaining anything from such a course. Such a waste.

Let’s talk about the care workers route which you raised. The home office is tracking them. The home office is aware that majority of them are not being paid the agreed minimum wage. Majority are not getting any jobs from their care homes, some are working few days in a week. The home office has the data. This is a direct violation of the UK immigration law and the home office will not issue them indefinite leave to remain when the time comes for it. Rather they will be asked to depart the UK and go back to their countries. So getting indefinite stay via the care route is not as easy as you made it sound.

People need to evaluate and think hard before determining to travel to anywhere.

Firstly, I like your idea to remain in Naija instead of the UK. You are right, but hmmm....its a bit tricky. The UK has made it so hard that ONLY genuine people can enter. So, in a way, it will favor people there because bad people will not spoil the place. If you have the money, you can enter the UK, live there, and enjoy it. But most people from developing nations don't have it. Going abroad is to hustle for the most people. Note the word "survive" abroad. Lol. UK has locked up for like 19 years but after Brexit, they were forced to open the health related routes and Nigeria messed them up again. And again, they have locked them up. Lol. Yeah, the path to the UK citizenship is too hard, but as long as one has a work permit to work and live legally there, it is worth it. And again, if one is smart and equipped with one of these innovative skills most nations want, the journey wil be smooth.

Now, let me talk about Canada. The way Canada used to make noise, I thought it was a superb nation. I remember checking their GDP and per capita, and I was not not feeling it though they look good. I never for a day put in effort to that nation. Then, I looked at the population of each province, and then, I saw something. Most people don't research the way I do because they just don't understand economics, finance, and politics. They think politics is Naija style..lol. And then, I looked at the GDP of each province, and that was when I realised that Ontario and some other places are ok, but the rest are not rich. Hmmm. I then realised that Canada actually wants to fill other places. The tricky issue is that over 70% of the immigrants since the late 90s they started accepting immigrants live in Ontario. Wow. And till date, immigrants after fulfilling the regions that give them stay, they jump to Ontario mostly, and few to Aberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan. British Columbia is out of reach because the elites won't allow common people there...too expensive for many. So, Ontario is getting so expensive too, and opportunities are limited now.

What does my explanation mean? Canada has not found a way to encourage people to live in other provinces apart from mainly Ontario, and then Albeta. People will pretend to want to live in other provinces, and after they have secured their residency, they will move to Ontario making the Canadian government effort fruitless. And why is it like this? It is simply because there is something they aren't telling us. GDP and capita are just numbers that smart nations easily push up. Now, there are no more jobs for people in Ontario. And they had to stop many of their programs and find other ways to make people stay in other provinces.

So. What is the truth? People stay where there are opportunities, life and fun. Period. There isn't fun in other places in Canada. People who tried staying in other provinces complain of loneliness. Lol. It can be a curse to be too big na. Lol. Canada is extremely huge.

Now to the real truth. Trump has shown us that the Canadian economy relies on the US. Period. If the US decides to crush them, they are gone.

While I am not saying you should not go there and fulfill your dream if it is for you, I am just saying that there is no place on earth with massive opportunities like the US presently. Where you wan talk about in the US and mention depression? No where. Where fun no dey in the US? No where.

US has peaked and now in decline. Most jobs have left to Asia. For instance, look at Detroit, it’s now a shadow of its old days. This was one of the reasons Trump became aggressive and attempting to use tariff to bring the job back to the US. Jobs are leaving and US is mounting unsustainable debts. That’s why Trump established DOGE to reduce federal expenses by sacking most federal workers. Can’t you see Americans crying on TV after being sacked and a lot are going to be sacked this week. I see a lot of people focusing on the mastery of a particular programming language instead of focusing on how to deliver highly performant, highly scalable , highly available software.
