The intent then was to ensure all freed black slaves became recognized as US citizens.

This is the part where people are missing, he is not ammending the constitution, he is triggering a security clause; The order stated, children born to "Illegal immigrants", so he is directly citing Article 2 section 2 of the US constitution - that calls on his powers as POTUS in national security situations.

You do not understand the process of amending the constitution. You think the President could just wake up and change the US constitution by executive order. The framers of the constitution are not silly when they stated that children born on the US soil are citizens.

Trump's executive orders so far are pro America. I think the birthright citizenship needs congressional law (which he can get) but maybe he wants to go the route of the Supreme court so that the conservative judges will side with him, citing national security concerns.

The only advantage, not necessarily exclusive to Nigeria alone but to the global world is for anyone into tech. Trump is rooting massively for the H1B visa, and he is planning to expand it.

So, if you are into tech and you know your onions very well, then you have a route to work in the US. But you need to be highly skilled (since you will be in direct competition with the indians), especially in Enterprise Software Development and (or) Machine Learning.

For others, getting a visitor's visa and study permit will be harder as Trump will place a restriction on immigration.
