Got me first Android device last week. HTC Desire
It's a brilliant device and it'd running the Eclair (Android 2.1)
It's pretty stable running all the apps but it hangs a couple of times whilst using Yahoo messenger.
What are your favourite applications?

Best is subjective, but from your list I will go with the Galaxy S. I m all for Android and like Texaspete already said the HTC is a power machine but its running Windows mobile. Only downside of the Galaxy is that it has no flash.
No doubt all the devices are the top ones of the manufacturers.
You should consider the HTC Desire too.

buying a TV in naija may or may not work, u need to check all the things those TV repairers on Nairaland have recommended o. South Africa ponders vuvuzela ban

South Africa's World Cup organising chief Danny Jordaan may ban vuvuzelas from inside stadiums after complaints from broadcasters and supporters.

The constant sound of the high-pitched horn-like instrument has so far drowned out much of the atmosphere-generating singing usually associated with games.

And Jordaan, when asked if he would get rid of them, told BBC Sport: "If there are grounds to do so, yes.

"We did say that if any land on the pitch in anger we will take action."

France captain Patrice Evra has already blamed the noise generated by the vuvuzelas, which has been likened to the drone of thousands of bees, for his side's poor showing in their opening group game against Uruguay, which finished goalless.

He said: "We can't sleep at night because of the vuvuzelas. People start playing them from 6am.

"We can't hear one another out on the pitch because of them."

Jordaan conceded that while the noise was irritating for some people, they were doing all they could to minimise the impact.

"We've tried to get some order," he continued. "We have asked for no vuvuzelas during national anthems or stadium announcements. It's difficult but we're trying to manage the best we can.

"We've had some broadcasters and individuals [complaining] and it's something we are evaluating on an on-going basis."

Jordaan admitted he was not a huge fan of them himself. "I would prefer singing," he said.

"It's always been a great generator of a wonderful atmosphere in stadiums and I would try to encourage them to sing.

"In the days of the struggle (against apartheid) we were singing, all through our history it's our ability to sing that inspired and drove the emotions."

if that hospital was well equipped, a CT SCAN would have determined what kind of hemorrhage he had and subsequently taken the right course of action, if any. NOT ALL BRAIN HEMORRHAGE ARE FATAL and therefore there could have been a chance to save him, however small it may have been, if they had the equipments to diagnose correctly what he was suffering from.

Its a good look. When you are done with your MPH you will be able to get a good job with any of the NGO and other places like FHI, IHVN, etc. Though you will need someone to kick the door open for you. No be by qualifications but by who you sabi!

My mum died at the annex of Onikan health centre( can't remember the exact name of the hospital) in Onikan just from a mere fibroid removal surgery in December 17, 2003

Once again, Sorry for your loss boss. You took your mum for an Hysterectomy at the annex of an Health Centre  I thought Health centres were just for primary illnesses like Malaria and Diarrhea, not to even mention its annex.

According to the incompetent lots that called themselves medical practitioners, she needed blood before the commencement of the operation, out error, they transfused her with a mismatched blood and she started reacting very badly to it.

The Incompetent lot made a diagnoses of Uterine Fibroid shey, do you know how many blood grouping categories exist? Asides the normal ABO (Blood Group A, B, AB, O), there is Rhesus (Positive or Negative), there is also Duffy, Kel etc. Normally hospital labs just check for the 1st 2 i.e ABO and Rhesus in 9ja, cos it is the common groups. It will be a rare situation for the other types to occur and when do do they might cos the blood transfusion reaction

A person that we saw some days ago in the hospital laughing and asking about home while she took her drips and other medications had become unconcious and in comatose, she could barely move let alone talk by the time we went to see her again a wk later. Most annoying aspect was the physician that was attending to her a host of semi-qualified auxilary nurses that could barely speak decent english let alone understand the intricacies of their job.

Dunno what english has got to do with healht care service delivery, anyways it must have been due to the fact that it was an Annex

Even if the doctor spends time explaining to the family what's going on, chances are that they're talking with someone that is ignorant to some extent. The time the doc would spend patting the family's hand could be better spent helping the patient; no matter how cruel it seems, the medical staff isn't there to soothe your nerves but to help the sick. If they're understaffed and overworked, give them space to do their thing; their jobs are stressful enough and it doesn't help morale to have people blaming you for things that aren't in your control. The body is so complex and the most basic of procedures can go terribly wrong just as the most hopeless of cases can recover; there are so many factors at hand to consider and no two case will ever be the same.

The fact that DaGrin survived for 3-5 days after the accident is a testament to the hospital doing their best to save the guy. If he had a hole in his head and cerebral hemorrhaging, what were the odds of survival at any hospital? (I wish people would stop dogging Naija hospitals as if things like this don't happen just as often in the West.) Had he survived, what are the chances that he hadn't suffered brain damage to some extent? If he had, what would his quality of life have been? Would any of you leave NL to go and bathe, clothe, feed, medicate, assist with physical therapy for DaGrin or help to provide a lifetime of medical care? What do you think would have happened had he survived: that he'd hop back on stage and keep releasing music? I believe any and everything is possible but let's be realistic: for him to get back to the person he was before the accident would have been a long, hard fight; for him to have survived that crash for days is a miracle unto itself.

Sure, there are cases where medical staff is negligent and responsible for a death but let's not jump on the bandwagon and say that's what happened to DaGrin. If the stories are true and he was lit and drove, quite frankly, it's a good thing that the only person hurt was him. I don't care who or what you are but if you drive drunk, YOU alone are responsible for the outcome. I've lost far too many people in my life because someone wanted to be selfish and get behind the wheel with liquor in their system; don't make excuses for such behavior.

Spot On, I'm sure if he had survived and was now pissing from a tube, being fed via another tube, paralysed from neck down, speech slurred or non-existence, drooling saliva all over etc as a sequelae of his Intracranial hemmorage or even as a complication of the life saving Neurosurgery sef they will still blame the Hospital. Lol.

No-one is saying that the hospitals are blazing on all cylinders but to be honest they are doing the best with the little resources (technology, motivated man-power, trained personnel) they have. Na doctor go put CT or MRI for hospital? No be government?

If all or most of the doctors in nig are actually the way you've spoken of here then we're in big trouble in nig. I know there's no bed side manner of any kind in nig hospital but telling pt's relatives these things should be PART of medicine it is like that in the wesrtern world and i dont know about other affrican countries. when you give a pt medicine, you tell them what its going to do to their body and why you're giving them. you also tell them its side effects which will be written on the info sheet of the medicine anyway BUT as it is part of medicine, it is the doctor's job to say these things. Geeezzz
Doctors should stop moaning about their pay mahn. in nig standard they are still well paid and they should leave the profession if they're not satisfied with it in any way or form. mschewwwww

Well its part of the teaching for Doctors to give info if requested by the patients or relatives under normal circumstances. But not if you are not motivated. Have you ever been ta an Outpatient department in a General Hospital in 9ja b4. You can see like 200 patients waiting to see one doctor. Even if he manages to "talk" to the first 100 extensively abt their conditions and drugs etc, what abt the other 100.
The amount of rot in the Nigerian Health care system is way above that of just pointing fingers at any doc.
