Okohvincent2: pls i would like to know the causes 0f cadets been withdrawn from training
Thanks. I'll answer this in his absence 1. When you break code eg blow AWOL for more than 48hrs 2. Exam malpractice 3. Malice on junior cadets (even though it's the norms in there) especially when village people wan visit ur case, you go chop person father and the person get very strong leg, if dey press for justice you're going out 4. Irregularities of documents 5. Physical fitness (if medical screening is conducted and you fail, you're going out) 6. Cadet relegation time repeating a terma (class) 2x Several others bro. Just pray to God and obey rules and regulations as much as possible. If you watch the last video Ugo4u posted towards the end, you can hear when an officer was giving warning to those cadets if they blow AWOL or break rules, they're going out. |

Prospect048: I love that line you made mention of time. God is the mastery of time, he programmed all human activities with time, you can't die a seconds before you time and not a seconds after your time, then what is the essence of fearing death? Why not fear and prepare for what you will meet later That's the reason northerners are not really scared of death. Religion also play a major role coz if ure versed in Qur'an or have strong aqidah, you won't be scared of death rather you'll prepare yourself for the life after this world. And this is the same belief terrorist have and twist the words in their preaching to garner followers. An average terrorist is not afraid of death, infact that's what they want and that's what makes them dangerous. My advice to all intending officers, it's good to have fear, fear of dying is not cowardice, in fact knowing how fragile our soul is can make us good soldiers. Always have this at the back of your mind if you eventually make it to NE or theatre of operation, the terrorist wants to die, it is your duty to grant him his wish without losing your life. |

komekn: First of all an ambush does not equate to immediate overriding victory by your enemy.
If you are in an area of contention, ambush is not a SUPRISE it's an EXPECTATION.
And if you are expectant then you are EQUIPPED, PREPARED to RESPOND OFFENSIVELY and seize the initiative and turn in into a victory.
There is a reason you do not see modern day combatants packed in the back of soft skinned pick up trucks.
They will be in a series of different types of Armoured vehicles. For instance the USA you will have JLTV, MRAP'S, IFV'S all with considerable offensive capability.
When you clear all the surrounding vegetation, trees, shrubs, long grass, etc You can see and be seen too, but it also means you also have nowhere to hide and or take cover, you are exposed.
Therer are different types of Ambushes, but going into theoretic description is not that important.
But our own NA modus opera operandi. The NA have a great belief in the strength of numbers so go into areas of contention bunched up in 50 + vehicle convoys in broad daylight.
They go on designated and well know paths and main roads. This approach does not require complicated intelligence to set up an ambush. In addition the vehicles they have don't give them any real offensive response and or protection.
Boko insurgents will have IED's, the obligatory Gun Trucks, RPG7's and the overwhelming number 90% will be carrying AK47's and light machin guns.
Most modern armies operations taking place in Sahel savanna. Will have a policy of not driving on the same route twice, most movement will be at night, and thier vehicles will be able to survive IED's, overcome RPG7's, and the HMG fire from the gun trucks. This makes a direct ambush attack to be far from advantageous.
For a RPG7 you have an effective range of less than 300 metres and with open terrain no obstructions. Clearing the grass around main roads makes it easier not harder for the enemy.
So if you don't go on the routes twice, using multiple routes and alternatives you are elusive to your enemy. These are all terrain vehicles, going off road is normal, not easy but achievable. Then you make it harder for Boko.
So now you face an ambush. 90 % of Boko small arms fire ineffective against your armoured vehicle. They might get one vehicle with an IED but they are well spaced. The rpg7's will not get through the cage armour on the armoured vehicles. And the minute you fire an RPG your heat signature is there for all too see, you are gunned down immediately with incendiary fire from cannon on the IFV or HMG on the multiple armoured vehicles you have.
You immediately charge through the bushes and long grasses you have elevation and can see them, coordinated ambush contingency plan in place, well rehearsed, nothing is SURPRISING. Any gun trucks you will outflank mash up or toast with the precision weaponry at your disposal.
At this stage you don't just REPEL, you pursue, overtake, decimate and ANNIHILATE they will never return. There is a need for retraining for some of our combatants IMO.
Look at operation Serval which started before opoperation Barkhan. Since inception in 2013 and to date 45 French soldiers have been killed in 7 years of combat. There have been several ambush attempts but not with any success of note.
I can not imagine the casualty figures of the NA over the past 7 years it could be thousands.
However, these insurgents will avoid the French and confront Malian, Burkina, Chad and Niger combatants at will and with no fear, WHY.
Our procurement priorities are wrong.
At this stage of our development absolutely all our gallant combatants should be in armoured fighting vehicles of different types. Absolutely, sometimes I wish you were our theatre commander. You seem to have experience on how things should be in place. Although you're an idealist, it takes a realistic mind to win a war because you're required to act in regards to the present reality and not how things should be. |

ugo4u: From Benue state down to Borno they always complete their slots those guys(northerners) don't joke with uniform work, that's why reserve/supplementary lists from those states are almost useless because them must come. Bauchi, Kaduna, Benue, Kano, Borno, Zamfara, Adamawa, Katsina you see this states I know know whether them use uniform work swear for them It's the southern states especially the SW and SS that don't send the military at all, the numbers shortlisted for screening and those that turnup for the exercise doesn't always correspond as many won't come. It's even worst amongst SE states. If they shortlist say 30per state it will almost be a miracle for half to show up, even the ones that report may even voluntarily go back home when they begin to hear scores. I noticed that most of the guys from the east that love uniform work either grew up in the north or outside the Southeast/Southsouth na them dey usually show up. I personally know 3 guys that vehemently refused to apply for the army, reason being that they can't come and die for something they know nothing about (Terrorism) . Even to sign your forms when a referee see army they'll tell you to use your life and do better thing even some senior officers even say this If not for the zonal method introduced for final shortlist e sure me say some SE states like IMO, Ebonyi will end up with 2 or 3 candidates. With that zonal method they can borrow candidates from other states within same zone to fill slots. Infact once you scale medicals the chances of you not making it is very slim maybe within a single digit percentage. You know why northerners don't have fear for this job? It's coz they believe every soul shall taste death and the way and manner in which you'll die is written already, you'll never die b4 your time and once your time is up, 1s will not be added to it. So even if you're in the comfort of your home, when ur time is up, you'll definitely go likewise someone in a fire fight, when he still have time left in this world, no matter how difficult the situation is, he'll still survive it. Secondly, most of them grew up knowing one military officer or more and they see the way dey command respect without asking for it. If ure from the north, you'll see ladies that are praying to marry a military officer. See if u be officer here, you're hot sturvs. I know you know all this na |

Shinfaks: Good evening house.
Are withdrawn cadets eligible to reapply? What are there chances of enlistment for the second time? I've heard of withdrawn cadets reapplying and showing up for screening. I also heard some were considered. In my opinion, it depends on why the cadet was withdrawn. Try and make some inquiries with links in academy if the cadet won't be penalised |

As long as ure good in secondary to A-level maths, the ure good to go. It's not difficult if you give it a trial.
