Maybe i should go there too. I submitted passports for 2 of us Oct 21. One has been confirmed ready for pick up Nov 8 while the other still says under processing when i tracked. When i chatted their online agents; they said package not ready for pick up. Could it be because the other one is a new passport i just renewed cos of short validity of the old passport I used in submitting the application.?

One is ready for collection, no update yet on the other passport. And both were submitted same day
wolske:

Any update? Have you heard from them? I think this issue is being experienced by those who submitted in Lagos VFS.
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by MumTee: 1:08pm On Nov 11, 2022
NIS will renew it even if it is 8 months validity remaining. You just have to explain the reason to them (they call it migration)

jaydave:
According to NIS they won’t attend to renewal only if it’s 6months to expiration , I don’t know if the policy has changed now . I doubt if they would renew ur 8months to expiration pp, but if they do, u have to let ircc knw bout ur updated pp via webform so by the time ur application gets approved you can able to submit the new passport for stamping instead of d old one

Try and renew if you can, find a contact in Immigration offices in Ilorin, Akure etc to have a shorter passport processing time, then when you get passport request, you will submit both old and new.

To renew over there in Canada, u will have to go to Ottawa to do it, depending on ur location in Canada, that might cost you about 1,000CAD or more (flight, hotel, passport fee etc)

Thelz:

Please if you do not mind me asking, my passport will expire august next year which is more than 8months now ..does it mean I have to renew for new one before sending to them when they request for it..or can I still use it and renew when it expires ..please I need urgent answer on this because am in between renewing or leaving it because of stress and time it would take please

I submitted on Oct 21st too and passports yet to be returned. I tried to track online but says it has been submitted to Canada Visa office. So i chatted VFS agents and they said they are yet to receive passports that were submitted Oct 21st back from the Embassy. Same thing when i sent a mail to enquire, the response was "your parcel is not ready for pickup"

I guess its a general challenge, could be the delay came from issues around the security alerts the US embassy put up sometimes ago. Maybe their embassy staff had to also leave or go into hiding temporarily during the security threats.

We can only wait on them, meanwhile flight tickets are rising. I am beginning to consider going ahead to purchase tickets as price has increased by over 800k for us since receiving PP request.

Blackfinegirl:

Please when did you pick up your passport?

I submitted mine since on the 20th of last month

Use your existing IOM Oct 19th appointment mail to send a mail to iomlagosmedicalbooki@iom.int also attaching your IRCC Medical request letter to it and passionately appealing to them for an earlier date because of the short time frame you have. They give preference to people with Medical request letter. That was what i did and i was given an earlier date.

Good afternoon house,

I have a question.

June 13th application

I just got my medical request. The medicals I submitted was from November last year with my first application.

I couldn’t find a slot on Qlife. I will try again early tomorrow morning. I hope I get an earlier slot.

I have a booking on IOM for medicals on the 19th. I don’t know if that’s enough time. I have only 30days to submit.

I will appreciate any feedback. Thank you !

who decides which one is withdrawn? IRCC or the Applicant? Or would IRCC write to you to ask which is your preference in the case they receive a work permit application then a study visa application some months down the line from the same applicant?
@justwise @technix @goingforward @justmellow and other gurus in the house please respond

impeccablerose:

SOWP, VV and Study permit are all temporary visas (same intent) so if you apply for all 3 or 2 of them at the same time, one might be withdrawn for the other. Hence its not advisable.
Express entry is for PR application (a different intent).
You can have a PR application and a temporary visa application being processed at the same time (dual intent) but not two or more temporary visa applications.

Congratulations, i'm happy for you.
How did you submit your passport when u got PPR especially since you did not have to do fresh biometrics & may not have the biometrics slip they talk about. What are the documents you submitted alongside your passport, did you have to pay transmission fees? Please give a step by step of what you submitted and what you paid for

It has been God all the way.

I stumbled on this thread a month after submissions when there was no movement with my application. I did not submit the numerous documents seen on the thread and doubted my application will be approved at a point especially home ties.

I got frustrated when my medicals was not updated for at least one month. I sent various emails to Accra, Lagos, Nairobi, Abuja and filled numerous forms. My faith was tested and still I believed that God who started this will perfect it.

Documents summited include
1. Bank Statement (Salary and Savings account)
2. Payslips
3. Letter of Explanation on sums paid
4. Offer Letter from Company
5. Acceptance Letter from School
6. School fees balance payment (Submitted through Webform)
7. International Medical Insurance Certificate
8. School Certificates
9 Professional Membership Certificate

I pray for all waiting that the God that did not fail me will show up for you too.

The wait is over

Thank you @Anon123 for your responses, do you mind if i DM you?
Anon123:

As an international student applying for a study permit, you are expected to demonstrate career and academic advancement as the reason why you are coming to Canada even though the primary goal is to japa.

Mentioning either MBA or Msc doesn't show to the visa officer you are coming to Canada to advance your last academic status. Hence why I said you will not be fulfilling your purpose of visit.
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 21 by MumTee: 6:24pm On Jul 18, 2022
Anon123:

Your academic history should be your bsc and transcript. No need to include the already acquired masters.

I will advice wen applying for the visa, DO NKT MENTION YOU HAVE A MASTERS ALREADY otherwise, you might be denied on purpose of visit

What if the Naija Masters in MBA and the intending Masters for the Canadian School is MSC Economics, guess they are in 2 different fields. Will mentioning the MBA still pose an issue?

Are you saying it does not matter that what was written on the Medical form is Work Permit and now to present it for Study permit purpose?

Since it is still valid, then yes you can

Hello Nairalanders, Can one use a previous Medical submitted for a Work permit application to now submit an Upfront medical for a Study permit application. The Medical was done Oct 1, 2021 and still valid.

After getting study visa stamped on your passport which is due to expire before the completion of your program, is there any harm done when you go and renew that passport and it gets canceled so one can get a new one? We know Nigeria Immigration will have to cancel the old passport before releasing the new one to you. Is there any consequence to this? Will the Canadian Study permit on the old one still be valid?

I learnt there's something called counter foil on the visa, will it be affected by the cancellation?

@technix @goingforward @justwise- and other veterans in the house, kindly advise

Hello,
My mum's interview is next week and I couldn't upload her passport photo online while submitting the DS 160 form.
She just sent me something on the form which says "effective immediately, visa applicants who don't upload their photos won't be allowed to be interviewed"

How correct is this, what if she goes for the interview with her photographs.
How do we go about this? Anyone who has attended an interview recently in Lagos Nigeria?

Hello Dupsy,
how are u and the baby doing? Please my friend is coming to San Antonio and her Point of Entry is Chicago; how friendly is Chicago as POE for pregnant women.
My friend's sister and hubby just got turned back about 2 weeks ago. The entry officer claimed the hospital & Doc's fees is over-discounted and screamed FRAUD despite they had paid $10,000 in advance. This is already giving me the jitters for my friend coming in by September.

[quote author=dupyshoo post=46853006]Hi all,

The journey that started last year May has finally come to an end. We finally landed in Canada yesterday. Glory to God as we are now officially Permanent Residents of Canada. Nothing much was asked except if we have new family members and if we have any criminal record. Even POF was not asked.

Want to wish everyone with their applications still in process all the best. For those that are still awaiting ITA and PNP, God will perfect it and finally for those who are contemplating on starting this Canadian PR journey, please start as soon as you can, you have got nothing much to lose.

I will still be on the forum to answer any questions you may have but I won't be able to answer any job related questions as we are only doing short landing. We will be travelling back home in the next few weeks as we are not planning to move to Canada permanently until the next 2 years.
[/quote

So soothing and pleasant is the sound of success, Congrats Dear.

Akelvin, i also had the same encounter, after applyong discount had to pay $474 Cos We werethere for 3 days cos of CS Plus hearing test. And das given deadline to pay or loose d discount. After much going back and Forth, had to pay.
My observation is Just that they are more efficient than d Anaesthesia And Brown & Associates people in preparing bills, revieving payment and issuing zero bal & revisor.

Wen i waited endlessly for d Anaeathesia to come collect Dir Money b4 discharge and didnt show up, had to stop by at their Office at Fountainview on Westheimer Road to make payment today on our way from passport Office.

Thanks MumTee.

BA gave us wahala o but we won sha at the end of the day. We booked our original tickets online via Wakanow. In fact the whole thing was kinda shady. We thought we booked using GT Bank Online Self Service, next thing we started getting emails and calls from Wakanow, so it wasn't intentionally that we got stuck with them.

Anyway, Wakanow and BA started passing the responsibility of who to add infant tickets to each other. After a few attempts, we got connected to a BA call center agent who was willing to help but the process was rather weird. What they did was make a separate booking for the infant and link that infant ticket to the existing one for DW. We were asked to call back after 48hours for the cost but this wasn't ready until the 4th day and even though they told us we could only pay $312.17 at the airport, quote we got upon reaching the airport was 345.17. Of course there was no option but to pay. It's safe to say the low point of our journey was the BA experience.

After paying, DW still didn't get a bassinet seat, thank God for the pleasant crew member who hooked her up with a row with one other empty seat.

Baby was entitled to a 23kg check-in luggage and a carry-on bag.

Finally, if you're paying for your infant ticket at the airport, hold extra cash o as you are almost guaranteed to pay more than was originally communicated.

Wao! @LI na God Win o!
What type of infant ticket was that, one way or two way. The BA call center you called, is it their Naija call center or their US call center? I rem some people mentioned its better you call Naija office than US office.
