You guys are done with your insult on the Yoruba's and Hausa-Fulani. It's now Ikwerre that is your problem.

No wonder despite being the 3rd largest ethnic group or tribe in Nigeria the minority group or tribe is being treated well and respected as if they occupy the 3rd position you currently occupy.

Reason because you have failed to grow and be matured in terms of politics and the way you talk and address people.

Always beating chest. The person that coined this statement may his legacy live long."Empty barrel makes the loudest noise"

The Hausa-Fulani, Yoruba and South-South minority keep schooling you people, you now beg to be president and not to be annihilated.

Ethnic thread that will create division and hatred are not supposed to be dominated by this our generation. But the Igbo's always have a way of bringing it to limelight.

These ethnic champions repent this is the last warning.

The Ikwerre's have said it continually in different foras that they're not Igbo's respect it.

You can't know the history of a people more than the people itself.
What is your problem? They say they are not igbos, we have accepted that and we are currently trying to give them an identity that's not even close to igbo. What's wrong with that? Are we not trying to help? smiley

Every tribe in Nigeria is lazy except the Igbo tribe.

If Hausa offends the Igbo's, you tag them as lazy and parasite.

Yoruba offends Igbo's same lazy people and dirty.

Ijaw offends Igbo too as usual they're lazy and drunk for their wives to carter for the family.

Now Ikwerre said we are not Igbo's they're lazy too and confused.

The Igbo's obsession with the Ikwerre's will be their undoing.

A country with over 200+ tribe and non is good with only one tribe the Igbo's, can one tribe be right and over 200+ wrong.

The Igbo's should check themselves something is really wrong with them.

Nigerians are hated abroad no thanks to the Igbo tribe, left to other 200+ tribes that makes up Nigeria getting a Visa to any Western country won't be a problem.
I still wonder why Nigeria cant organize a referendum for us if we are a burden.

NNEWIsuper:
If igbo was accommodating just like Hausa it would have been a lingual fraca in the whole old Eastern region of Nigeria made of SE and SS. It doesn't mean the minorities won't speak and know their dialect but just like how Hausa is the lingual franca in the North West and North East and even some parts of North Central like plateau, nasarawa speak Hausa as lingual franca but it doesn't mean the minorities there don't know and speak their own dialect.
Rather what we see is even the ones who are actually igbo denying their route.. Well you won't blame them because igbo itself is too divided and not accommodating. This is a loss for the igbos because ordinarily they should be influential tribe in Nigeria politics which would have even helped reshape the business environment of Igbos

Witness of several people may not be concocted after all. I have lots of Igbo friends and we remain friends. And they know I am not Igbo but a brother. Fortunately for me my grandmother (as most of us have) was from Umuahia. I swear, before she died, I once asked her if there was a time Ikwerre was Igbo. She vehemently answered in negative. She said there was never a time.
You guys are just funny. Look I'm not one of those igbos who will always drag you up and down to be igbos by force. We don't need such igbophobic people in our midst. My concern is the lies that you paint us with everyday. The most annoying part of it is that after you paint us with lies and deny igbo publicly, then you accept igbo again when you need a slot in Abuja. Please help me tell your people to stay one place.

Oh so they never told you that the Igbos colonised the Ikwerre people? These are things you need to know. Before the Civil War the Igbos had the Ikwerre people completely under their control. They changed the names of our communities. All the streets in Port Harcourt bear their names even up till today. If this continues we will act on that. The language taught in school was Igbo. The had the Ikwerre people completely under subjugation. This is the fear of an Ikwerre man any time Biafra is mentioned. He thinks he is walking into another rules of an Igbo man. He passed through hell then and would never want to pass same again.
The pains of Igbo people till date is the loss of Port Harcourt. It has remained their eternal pains.
It has never been on record that nndigbo colonized anybody. Never in the history of mankind. I'm not even going to try and make you understand because you were obviously lied to by whoever told you that fairytale. I've heard this lies before and even worse. Some foolish ikwerres also uphold the belief that nndigbo have wanted to chase them out of ikwerre land and replace them with bakassi people. There are so many horrible and unbelievable tales your father's have made you believe. So I'm not surprised with your utterances today.

But let me give you an advice. Learn to research before you believe. And please, stop the lies against nndigbo. You are very free to deny nndigbo but please stop concocting events that never happened.

This was why Ikwerre people with opened arms welcomed Gowon and his troups. What have we done to you people? There is no historical connection between the Igbos and the Ikwerres. We have asked for it to be provided to no avail. Igbos Communities are interconnected. They know themselves. Can you mention where the Ikwerre people belong? Can you come up with a prove of when Ikwerre was Igbo. At the height of Igbos power in Nigeria in 1963, Ikwerre people were in the National Assembly to make a case of being no other ethnic group other than being Ikwerre people. Knowledgeable men like Zik and even Ojukwu were alive. None of them kicked against it.
We have never been. Yes, there is some oral history of the Ikwerre people migrating from Benin. I will educate you on this. It was not the Ikwerre people who said it. It was an oral history given by the Ekpeye people and Omoku people in same Rivers State. Ekpeye and Omoku people have not completely lost their Benin vestiges. Till date their kings are called Oba. In their oral history they claimed they migrated from Benin with their brother Iwhuruohna (Iwwhuruohna people are now known as the Ikwerre people).
Our ways have a lot in common and that does not make Ikwerre Igbos or Igbos Ikwerres.
Let me draw a biblical analogy. Esau and Jacob were of the same origin and later formed their own countries. From biblical records Jacob had more sons that Esau. If their countries particularly Esau wasnt lost, their culture and language will a lot in common. The size of Jacob's country may be bigger than that of Esau considering that Jacob had 12 sons. The size of Jacob's children will not cause Esau to become Jacob.
Remember, Esau came before Jacob.
Before the war and after the war, Igbo Language is taught in Rivers Schools. It is also being compulsorily offered. Even Etche in Rivers State speaks a more of Igbo related language than Ikwerre people. But Igbos dont go after them because they dont have a Port Harcourt.
I think we should be the ones asking you what wrong we have done to you. We have seen so many igbophobic ikwerres in our lifetime .I don't care if you keep opening your arms for the government, but please take my advice serious especially no 3 . That one is very important. I don't have energy for unnecessary arguments this afternoon .

Well I have some suggestions for the ikwerres. The first two may look funny but No 3 is very important.

1) since you don't like igbo and don't want anything to do with their identity, then you should restructure yourselves. You claim you come from benin. Then you should adjust your language to suit the Benin identity. You can ask the Benin kingdom to help you with that. I'm serious ,this is not a joke. Let everything about you reflect Benin. You can even choose to throw away all languages related to igbo and adopt the Benin language. I think that's even the best thing to do. You can't be romancing with igbo and be igbophobic.

2) let your personal appearance reflect Benin. This is a humble request please. Don't wear our isiagu clothing or red cap for identification purposes. If you want to represent ikwerre, then adopt another clothing for yourself. Same goes to every original igbo identity.

3) Don't use our identity for political purposes. Some nigerians say igbo in politics bring bad luck, but I wonder why the ikwerres cannot use hausa, or Yoruba identity for their political ambition. Why must you claim to be igbo when you are looking for Abuja slots? Please use ikwerre henceforth.

But every man has the right to decide his own destiny.
Any Ikwere that identity himself as Onye Igbo is Igbo,
Any the one that said he is not, then he is not.
It doesn't work that way my dear. If you decide to choose a destiny, then choose without hanging on to another's destiny . If the majority of ikwerre say they are not igbos, then they are not. That how they should be seen and treated. Simple.

This issue of identity crisis has really gone to far. It's so annoying. You can't be claiming two tribes at once. You can't be igbo when you desire any right of nndigbo and become igbophobic just to please some people. Sometimes, I wonder what they gain by being igbophobic.

Nsukka people had to bear the full force of Igbo invasion from the North. You don't see them asking for special favours or denying Igbos.
This bullshit where by some Igbos outside SE try to the picture of being special because they feel they suffered more than us in Biafra is nonsense. No such thing happened. Every one suffered.
Anyone denying Igbo is doing it of their own volition. No excuse they can put forward which those of us in SE can't too.

Exactly!

Can't put it better.. I think that this careless attempt to push out these groups because the dominant voices there are against the Igbo political structure at the moment exemplifies the height of political naivety. Very predictable knee jerk reaction. More like throwing the babe away with the bathwater.. folks should learn that as long as federal powers are in the hands of serial adversaries, there will always be these sort of moments. What am I even saying, there are igbos who fought with the federal forces during the war! Should we also carve out their communities and throw them away?
I think that the op is right on this one. If you are igbo, you have to be igbo for real, and not having one leg in ikwerre and one leg in igbo. I mean, why would you deny nndigbo in public severally and expect them to keep on accepting you.
