THE BREVITY OF LIFE

The silent narrow pathways of graveyards help you to understand the brevity of life. I've been trying to understand why young Nigerians are excited about NYSC. I just don't understand it. I mean, if someone is busy, really busy in his life, he will frown at gallivanting in some obscure uniform for one year - wasting a whole year that should have been dedicated to productivity. But, trust those who are posting their pictures in that prison uniform, they will say, You are just a hater.

I don't hate you. I don't understand you. I am very worried that you are leaning on the rails of convention. Arguably, once someone deviates from the "Go to School – Get a Job – Get a Family" model, he is seen as a delusional fool who is certain to fail and is discouraged at every turn. But the truth is that we know our parents are great liars - they have failed and so, they subconsciously don't want us to be better than them. That is why they always say, Get a degree, get a job and then, do a Master's, and when you do a Master's and you're useless again like most Master's holders in the country, they nudge you on to get a PhD. You become fully useless and stupid.

Who wants a PhD holder in a structure less society?

But the NYSC thing our parents don't realise it has no redeeming quality, but they persuade us to do it because Nkolika and Musa and Bisola have done it. Oh, can't you see that Ade is serving? If you don't serve, you won't get a job.

Fucking lies! What job? They finish and there is no job because there is no one in his right sense that would be creating jobs for you to take. So, we end up having a world full of capitalist slaves. People who are enslaved on the premise that they are being made responsible.

The world has moved on from your NYSC..Since you have one unproductive year to rigamarole and wear prison uniform.

Some are spending decades and countless Naira pursuing post-post-post doctorate degrees. They spend most of their life preparing for life!.

The workforce has changed too; nepotism, tribalism and other forms of preferential treatments are more prevalent and this makes promotion next to impossible for many people. Companies are also promoting people without the pay to match the name, so you find professionals or Ph.D. holders with fancy job titles struggling to pay basic bills...A lot of companies are owing their employees months salary..The ones being paid have nothing to show after deducing their monthly expenses

The joy of every graduate is to get job within a short period of time after university education, but with this list i don't think there is any joy in graduating from Nigeria Universities, except if you have a job waiting for you, or you graduate from Nigeria Defense Academy(NDA) that have
automatic job.



The Nigerian economy today is in a tailspin. What used to work has simply stopped working. The economic rules have changed but we seem to be playing by the old rules of the game. Crude isn’t our biggest resource as a nation and even if diamond strewn the entire landscape of Nigeria, it still will not be our most valued resource. Our most valuable resource is our mind and we need to start changing our mindset from dogmas set by society.


It is time to defy the odds. To refuse to accept the status quo. To think differently and be different. To decipher abundant opportunities even in immense potential in such a great nation as ours. It is about lifelong learning. It is about building formidable network..

Considering the high level of expectancy ratio of we Nigerians especially students. Blue collar jobs are what we all popularly call Entrepreneurship while the white collar jobs are the opposite,obviously the relationship that exist between them categorically is just one being the giver while the other the receiver or taker. The problem I have detected so far is our life style,Lack of motivational forces to propel us to want to leave where we are today to the promise of better tomorrow, No body wanting to starve his/herself today for a better consumption tomorrow,The fear to do something new,procrastination, bluffs ,students going after attraction neglecting the aftermath of Their action to be distraction and finally rejection.E.t.c let us always live to remember that we’all wil get a Fraction of any sort of friction we cause ourselves or others. Start something today no matter how small it is,Save money so that you can save yourself your Tomorrow, Don’t wait for the government to provide jobs and the fundamental human needs cos you are the govt of your destiny..

Unfortunately most of us can't change this situation.. I will advice you to make the very best of your time during service. Get a skill, Get relevant certification, Read many self developments books, work on your interpersonal skills

Aleppo is the largest ancient city of Syria, country torn down by war. Torn between the government-held west and the rebel-held east, Aleppo, in the last four years, has become a metaphor for a decrepit and destroyed dwelling place with many of its 2-million plus inhabitants reduced to less than 600. The road into Apapa is in an ultra terrible state. There are two main entrances: the Mile 2–Tin-Can axis and the Ijora axis. None of the two entrances is in any good state. Driving into Apapa through the Ijora bridge was like going to hell. The multiplicity, depth and stretch of the craters made driving into the hitherto beautiful district a nightmare.

Everywhere bore the signpost of criminal neglect. It was like the road of a war-torn territory.

With Apapa, there is hardly any question of why investors are scampering out of Nigeria.

This is the same Apapa that used to be an industrial hub and hundreds of many other business outfits including plenty of clearing and forwarding firms many of which had provided jobs to thousands of Nigerians in the 80’s through 90’s. This is the same Apapa that hosts the two busiest sea ports (Apapa Port and Tin Can Port) in Nigeria. Wait, let even do a rough calculation of 1000
graduates from each university, that means we will be having at least 116000 graduates from the Nigeria university system alone, apart from Polytechnic graduates and college graduates, and even other Nigeria graduates from different foreign institutions around the world.


Furthermore, with less than 50000 recruitment every year in the labour force, that is not even enough for the 1/3 of university graduates alone. The police force 10000 recruitment, which is the highest recruitment this year received about a million applicant. If police can receive a
million applicant it shows how desperate graduates are.


I think the problem lies in our comatose education system..The system focus on profiting from boring niches, So many people today think that if they want to become a millionaire, then they need to do so by following boring, widely accepted niches. It will take ages for you to become a millionaire through traditional occupations like becoming a lawyer, doctor or banker (in fact, these occupations usually have earnings limits that are very difficult to break through).

Push past these pre-conceived notions of what it takes in order to become a millionaire. You don’t need to spend years in school to be a millionaire.

But, please do remember, amongst the students, who will write the exams, is an artist, who doesn't need to understand Maths.

There's an entrepreneur, who doesn't care about History or English literature.

There's a musician, whose Chemistry marks won't matter.

There's a sports person, whose physical fitness is more important than Physics.

If your child does get top marks then great. But, if he or she doesn't please don't take away their self- confidence / dignity from them.

Tell them it's ok, it's just an exam. They are cut out for much bigger things in life.

Tell them, no matter what they score, you love them and will not judge them.

Please do this and if you do, watch your children conquer the world. One exam or a 90 percent marks won't take away their dreams and talent.

And please do not think that doctors and engineers are the only happy people in the world.

Many children are backward in school because the schools are too dull for them.

I lost someone emotionally and it was a hard time moving on...A friend invited me to do Itikaaf @ syrian mosque Ikoyi..

During one of my sujood..I started to think about everything and could not stop crying uncontrollably..The floor was wet and soaked in my tears..I could hear my heart beat and everything was so awesome...That was the most peaceful position have ever been..


When I read surah Qaf. "it will ask, 'Are there no more to come?' (Surah Qaf: 30) and Surah Qiyama and the last verse of Surah Luqman..I will start crying again..

When I read Surah Rahman..I started thinking about all the favours of Allah and how he has been so merciful to me..

After the itikaaf my emotional wound healed and I became stronger and still striving to be better..

Walahi Islam is the way..If you are currently facing any problem right now just wake up @ night and lost your self in sujjod..I swear by the creator of the Universe you will find the solution to your problem..



The real test of being in the presence of Allah is, that you either forget about yourself altogether or see yourself as a small,powerless, dirty object...See yourself as infinitesimal as a single sand on the beach,see yourself bowing down in front of an unimaginable being.

One of the greatest failures of our educational system is the failure to provide financial education to students..Educators seem to think that money has some sort of quasi-religious or cutlike taint to it,believing that money is the root of evil

University is a cage that force you to sit behind a desk for four years so you’ll be qualified to sit behind another desk for forty years.

The university should be a place for learning and progressive research not copy and paste journals , it is not supposed to be a sit-in-the-classroom-and-copy-notes set up..


Most of our Universities Don have attain intellectual menopause and can't think beyond their analogue mind!

Our University system is built on testing memory not impacting effective knowledge that can be use in the real world,the students mind is construe on getting a good CGPA no matter the cost


We spend a lot of years in school learning nothing about money..The lack of financial education in our school system is cruel and evil..As most of us know we now live in the information age without financial knowledge people struggle financially,without financial knowledge people buy a personal house and car and think its an asset,without financial knowledge people don't know money is different from currency..

There was a day I was arguing with your father. We were screaming, Tempers were high. I was angry and He was angry. Then I called him an idiot! He was shocked, He looked at me asking how dare I call him that, Immediately started calling him idiot, fool, stupid, crazy, I called him all sort of name. Guess what he did? He didn’t raise his hands to hit me. He just walked away, banging the door as he went out.

My Son, If your father had hit me and destroyed my eyes, how will you feel sitting here with me today? How will you regard him as your father? Would you have been proud of him or would you be blaming me for calling him names? Never hit your wife! No matter the provocation just walk away and things will be normal. Whenever she offends you, think of this story I just told you, it could have been your mum!

Before I forget, after he left, I was filled with guilt. We slept on same bed that night and I went to him the next day. I pleaded with him, I did all I could to show am sorry and he forgave me. That day I cooked his favourite food, yes you know he loves Pounded yam & Vegetable soup right? After that day, I never called him names, my respect for him was ten times stronger.

There is something very important you must always do, my son listen very carefully, defend your wife. When she is under pressure, stand by her. If your friends hates her, it is your duty to make them see her as a Queen. Your Uncle, I mean Uncle Yusuf, never liked me. But Ur father was always supportive until his perception changed.
There was a day your Father was going to host the owner of his company and friends. They were three of them. That day I was in the kitchen cooking for them and your father went to buy drinks. When the table was set and food was served. Everyone started eating. Then I remembered I did not add salt in the food. I was embarrassed. Your father tasted the food and looked at me. He immediately turned to the guests. He told them that he instructed his wife last month not to add salt whenever she is cooking because of some problem with his body. He said it in a funny way and everyone laughed! The guests understood and he asked me to bring salt and everyone added according to their taste. He managed to eat the food without salt. After the guest left, he went on his knees and asked God to forgive him for lying.

Your wife is like a baby, sometimes she don’t know what to say or do. Stand up and speak for her!


Now let me talk to you about Sex. You see Sex is a wonderful thing. Do not be surprised if your wife enjoy and need Sex more than you do. There were days, I needed Sex more than your father and there were days he needed it more than me but the important thing is to always try to satisfy the other when they need you. Don’t always think of your self.

There was a time things were hard and I needed to do two jobs to support your father. One night I was so tired. When I got to bed he was in the mood. He try to make love to me and I didn’t refuse him. I was tired but I felt I needed to be there when he need me. When he tried undressing me, he saw my look and he stopped. He asked what was wrong and I said nothing. But he understand me better. He stopped and then started telling me stories until I fell asleep.
My son, Sex is best enjoyed when the two parties are physically and mentally ready for it. Sometimes, read your wife and understand her.

Make it a habit to go anywhere with your wife. Beside your job, move around with her. If anyone invite you to his house and told you not to come with your wife then be very careful. Use wisdom.

I know you love mummy… I know you tell me all your problems. But now things will be different.

Let your wife be the first to know before me. Let her be the first to see before me.
When you have problems with her don’t run to me immediately. Wait for a day to pass and then talk to her about it. Pray about it. Report her to nobody but talk issues out within yourself.


Finally, don’t forget to come and visit me with your wife every month!
