Yes, I have been debited by Stanbic. I bid 18.4 for 364 days with N1m. I thought it will not go through, but it went. I got the debit alert today. This may mean to say that Stanbic still takes less than N50m from investors, but I do not know their minimum since I tried with N1m and it went through. |

It is my prayer o, that this bad DMO policy will not spoil the TBills market because this FGNSB is not worth it at all. Let's just watch and see, there has to be a way to sort it out. zamirikpo: same with me, i walked into skyebank and placed my bid at 18.3% and they accepted my application. i hope and pray that they get applications worth 50m or more so my application would sail through. |

FGN Savings Bond at 13.01% is not good at all.
I think the Treasury Bills market still maintains the status quo, I just placed my bid for 18.4% with Stanbic IBTC, I will watch to see how it goes. |

That's why you have to choose a credible bank or finance house to do the deal with Mpeace: If they Pool funds like you said, it becomes risky since the reversion at the expiration of the investment goes to one person or account. If that person is the investment house and that investment house has gone under before the maturity date, your money will be used to pay creditors. |

Yes, sadly the new minimum for NTB is N50m starting from monday next week, but some banks and finance houses will try to gather retail investors' funds into a pool to get the required N50m. In this case, it will be left to the bank and finance houses to determine the minimum amount they will ask each retail investor to invest. The finance house I spoke with told me their minimum is N500k. They also told me I will not be able to bid at my own rate, I will have to go with their advised rate. zamirikpo: i dont want to get confused.....are u saying that the new status was actually meant for banks and finance houses such that they are not allowed to apply to the primary market if they dont have a pool of upto 50m. Am sure most banks have more than 50m at any given auction.....even before this new dmo rule am not sure about the finance houses though,....
going by what u posted, individuals do not have to worry especially when they use banks or maybe banks would have a minimum amount for intending TB investors . allah this thing is just vexing me......i need clarification before the next auctions
pls guyz.....more expert clarification needed...... |

Money Market Fund is good because it is for risk averse investors, yet I personally do not prefer it to investing in NTB or Bonds directly. This is because the fund owners will still have to make profit from you. Profit in form of unnecessary charges.
Retail investors still have a chance to play in the new Treasury Bills market. I spoke with a finance house and was told their new plan is to pool funds from retail investors at a minimum of N500k per investor, so that they can make up the new NTB minimum bid amount of N50m.
If this works fine, then that is a good alternative. The new FGN Savings Bond is another good alternative if it comes with a good coupon rate. |

I concur with you on this and pray this possibility arise. NL1960: Which small investor will want to tie down his/her funds in a savings bond for 3-5 years?. Secondary market will be a better option. The banks can buy in bulk from the CBN and sell to small investors. If a bank buys from CBN at 17% for instance, i will not mind buying from the bank's secondary market at 16% instead of tying down the money in a savings bond at 18% for instance. |
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by munezo(m): 9:59am On Mar 01, 2017 |
It will be really sad if they increased the minimum amount for Treasury Bills henceforth, but if we can get at a good rate from the secondary market, it will still be cool.
The new Savings Bond will also stand as a good option. |

They bid for you at 17.95 Everything is correct and yes you will get your N1m in by this time next year. MyMail2D: Hi,
I also just debited. Pls assist to confirm if this is correct. I requested that my Bank invest 1m for 364days and they said they will go with their bank bid rate. They debited me 1,000,000 this evening, then credited me 179,506, then debitted me some Bank changes of 1,221.
What rate did they bid for me? I thought they will debit me only the discounted value of 820,494, and pay me the interest upfront of 179,506 and I will collect 1,000,000 in 364 days.

For you own peace of mind, leave them and go to Stanbic IBTC. I wanted to use Diamond initially but they frustrated me. I had to open a savings account with Stanbic because of TBills and Bonds and I have never regretted it since then. Stanbic allows you to bid on your own rate. All the best dagr8: Hello house, please any one here who has ever used Diamond bank to bid? I don't know why they are giving me trouble. They insist I can only buy from the secondary market and I cant bid myself. What is the solution to this wahala? |

You know it pays twice every year, this one paid today is the first for the year. That's what I mean. unite4real: The first coupon of FGN2020 Bond has been paid today, check if you have received alert.
why did you call it first coupon? I have been enjoying it since 2015. Actually, this is the fourth coupon on this investment. The first coupon for the FEB2020 Bond was paid in August 2015, second was in Feb 2016, third was in August 2016 and the one now is the fourth. |

Go open a savings account with Access bank and apply for a Visa debit card. When you get the card, go to any ATM and change the I-PIN, that done you can then use the card to pay for any stuff online. You can also link the card to your Nigerian PayPal account so that you can pay using the PayPal details instead of typing in the card details all the time when paying online. The card can also be linked to your Payza account. The card works wonders, it has never failed me provided I have funds in my Access bank account. The card currently charges N324 to $1. All the best tolajay: Quick one guys.
How do I pay for domain names. My bank Diamond isn't supporting international debit card usage. FCMB charges about N500/$ which way too high compared to the official rate and charges by GTB and Access...which unfortunately i do not have either of them. |
