I swear no snake will ever show up even at night. snakes hate clean environs because its void of rodents..don't go look for any chemical to cause harm to the environment with toxics. pple abuse use of chemicals. |

jidestroud: Quick Update (Planting of Tete and Soko)
Just a quick update on today's activities in my kitchen size garden. I was able to do some planting of the Lagos spinach/Green (Soko and Tete) this morning before heading out. I was able to transplant into about 7 mini-sized beds (lol). Activities continues tomorrow, more beds to be filled up with my vegetables. Impressive!. It's just the season. at this stage you really need to make a cool cash out of this two. They are also insect inviting. it's a war just around the corner. |

Theflint1: Hello house, my birds are sick. I noticed some bloodstained poo over the weekend, I consulted a few persons and they recommended Embazine and Amprolax. I went with Amprolax as recommended by the guys at the store where I was buying the birds. They have been on Amprolax for a day now.
I looked at some of the birds today and I noticed some had reddish/swollen faces. Most are still just noticeable but one of them seems to have advanced in symptoms for whatever it is they suffer.
Gurus, are my birds suffering from?
Infectious coryza. your liter management is poor. Air qaulity in your pen is compromised,so check ventilation. since you are on a conventional means of growing, return to the vert store and request for a good Anti-CRD drug. combine it with the anti-cocci you have and follow the instruction for dosage and duration on the paper. As for organic farming, use extracts of ginger, garlic and scent leave 10ml of each in 2liters of water is the quantification and administer for 5days. please whenever you notice ammonia gas build up in a pen ,please clean u ASAP. |

DinoP: Thank you @Munzy14. You sound like an expert on this crop.
Pls how can I know the early and late maturing variety?
Again the maize you saw is intended to shield the cabbage from excessing sun because the rain seems to have started subsiding gradual. I even have to irrigate most time.
For the pests that would be attracted by the maize, I make constant use of pesticide to check the pest.
Thanks again. Your idea is highly valued.! you welcome. hahaha not an expert per say, just a practical farmer. early heads start folding from 56days or say 60days from planting. most times they are usually small heads abt 500g-900g at maturity. while big heads starts folding from 70days and get to maturity within 3-4 months. Thanks. |
Agriculture › Re: My Cabbage Garden by Munzy14(m): 7:03am On Sep 22, 2017 |
DinoP: This cabbage garden is on a half plot of land- a. The nursery was planted on 4th August. 2017. b. Transplanted them on 17th August. 2017. c. Currently they about 7 weeks old. So how many more weeks will it take before it starts forming round heads.
EXPERTS IN THE HOUSE YOUR ADVISES/ OPINIONS WILL BE APPRECIATED. wow impressive!. Hope your spacing is atleast 50cm apart from each. If your cabbage is the earlier maturity, it will start folding from 58-62days. If it is the late maturity specie, expect forming of head from 60- 60somethingdays. goodluck!. Again intercropping with maize is highly risky because of army warms which is attracted by maize . |

jidestroud: More Updates: Cabbage Harvest
I failed to heed my very own advice: "Never stay away from your garden/farm for more than 24hrs, everything could go wrong". Sad one for me. Traveled to the federal capital to celebrate the Salah with friends of the Muslim faith on thursday, got back yesterday monday. Every other plants (tomato, fluted pumpkin, green vegetable, lagos spinach, basil and the newly planted lemon grass) where in good shape except the cabbage. The snails and slugs did prevail at last. Was able to harvest about 4 heads, lost 6. Lesson learnt.
Nevertheless, it was a success story. F1 Victory Cabbage is sure a good one to go!!!! Off to try out another specie. wow sorry for the sad news, absent is a no no in farming. nice harvest. please i am interested with your F1 victory . seems to mature ealier than this thai agro own. how do i get the seed?. |
