I saw Ballack training today but I hear it may take a month or so for him to be back.

Avram Grant has given a positive news bulletin on the injury recoveries of Michael Ballack, John Terry and Ashley Cole, and on the work being done by Andriy Shevchencko to hit top form.

On the German international captain, in the final stage of comeback from ankle surgery, Grant said:

'Michael Ballack is a lot better than he was one month ago. I think in one or two months, if everything keeps going very well, he will be ready for us.
'He is important to us because not only is Michael Ballack a great player, he is also a match winner, as he has shown throughout his career. I expect him back soon.'

Shevchenko has received support from his manager who has been impressed by the effort seen from the Ukrainian striker everyday on the pitches at Cobham.

'Andriy Shevchenko was a very, very good player and is still a very, very good player, even if he has not been playing often in the team.

'His attitude in training every day has been fantastic. For us it is the challenge to improve all the squad, individually and as a team, and we want all our players to be at their best.
