[b]Our Champions League group opponents Valencia have dismissed coach Quique Flores, following disappointing 3-0 and 2-0 defeats to Sevilla and Rosenborg in the past week.

The 3-0 defeat to Sevilla, themselves without a manager following Juande Ramos' departure, is Valencia's fourth in five games, leaving them occupying fourth spot in La Liga behind early pacesetters Real Madrid.

A club statement said: 'After analysing the team's situation, which is considered to be irretrievable after defeats in the league and UEFA Champions League, the board has decided to dismiss Quique Sánchez Flores.'

Flores had been in charge at the Mestalla for two years, having been appointed in the wake of former Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri's departure. Reserve team coach Oscar Fernandez has been place in temporary charge.
