[b]In response to media reports over the weekend regarding Chelsea Football Club supporters' behaviour while travelling to away matches, the club has issued the following response.

'We are disappointed that the first Chelsea FC was made aware of this alleged problem is from the media and that the British Transport Police have chosen to air it in this way rather than approach their colleagues in the Metropolitan Police with whom we work closely at all times, or the club, to discuss it.
'While Chelsea condemns misbehaviour of any form, our fans as a whole have been unfairly tarnished by these reports. If the reports are accurate, there should have been arrests, and had those been reported to the club, action over and above any court proceedings would have been taken. Chelsea has a very strict policy that members or season ticket holders involved in any sort of trouble whilst travelling to or from matches will be banned.
'Representatives of Chelsea are more than happy to have a dialogue with the BTP in order to deal with and hopefully prevent any problems, if, and we stress if, they occur in the future.'[/b]
