Former Bayelsa State governor Timipreye Sylva has said that President Goodluck Jonathan will not get the 25 percent of the votes in Bayelsa State in the coming presidential election. Speaking yesterday at a press briefing in Abuja, Sylva said the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari would get more votes in the state than the president. He said Jonathan has disappointed the people by failing to address the problems facing the state and the country in the six years he spent as president. The press briefing was used to formally receive a former health commissioner in the state, Chief Frank Akpoebi, who defected from the PDP about three weeks ago. “We have gotten to a place where our presidential candidate, General Mohammadu Buhari will win overwhelmingly in Bayelsa State and President Jonathan might only be looking for 25 percent in his own state. We know that, but we also know more than you the product, the person that he also is,” he said. On his part, the defector, Akpoebi said his decision to leave the PDP and join the APC was because of the president’s failure as a leader, maintaining that Jonathan has used divide and rule tactics to pitch Nigerians against one another. www.dailytrust.com.ng/daily/politics/45902-jonathan-will-struggle-to-get-25-percent-votes-in-bayelsa-sylva |
Yes! No lie we all know |
Nigeria belongs to all of us & its our collective responsibility to rise as electorates to make sure our votes count #NigeriaDecides. Nigeria. Most people I know supporting Jonathan are doing so either out of self-interest or fear of the APC. Because we all know he has failed. Politics is not a do or die affair. GEJ shouldn't bring Buhari's daughter into politics when we know Patience's inability to bear a child. I would have love to defend the President but I feel like even if I say something I will sound stupid because we all know he has failed. We can't afford another four years of this GEJ administration. No, we the Elders won't watch this happen again! We need an active leader. We lost over 20 Youths during the NIS exams, PDP did not protest. They are now protesting Buhari's certificate. Is that the transformation? I am ashamed of this administration. Namadi Sambo could travel to Saudi-Arabia to mourn with them but can't mourn the missing Chibok girls. Politics everywhere! This is a failed state. The president said, we have many private jets, so we are not poor. Is this how a good leader should reason when our youths are jobless? |

Few days to the 2015 elections, the former governor of Kaduna State, Mr Balarabe Musa has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to postpone the general elections on grounds of insecurity and inability of a large number of Nigerians to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).www.channelstv.com/2015/02/01/2015-elections-may-be-violent-if-held-in-februray-balarabe-musa/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter |

“The APC Kaduna Change Team is vigorously campaigning in Southern Kaduna. This is after suspending its Kaduna rally slated for Saturday. “But reports have reached us that the PDP is stockpiling weapons to unleash violence tomorrow with the intention to blame it on the APC. Among items seen at the PDP office are axes, knives and brooms. The design here is obvious: the broom is our party’s symbol and the desperate PDP politicians want to equip their thugs with it to create a mirage. “Intelligence reaching us indicate that a certain commissioner in the PDP government has also been distributing APC vests to their thugs for the mayhem they plan for tomorrow. The PDP knows that it has lost Kaduna State, and it is desperate to obtain by violence that which the people have rejected. “The APC reiterates once again that any violence in Kaduna State this weekend and during the February elections is the calculated handiwork of the PDP, no matter the attire in which they disguise their thugs. Things have gotten so bad for them that violence is the only package they have prepared for their presidential campaign in Kaduna. The APC has won the confidence of the people of Kaduna State. We will not succumb to provocation; neither shall we accept curfew or any designs against the freely-expressed wishes of the people. “Once again, APC and its supporters are the intended victims of the violence the PDP is planning.” www.el-rufai.org/el-rufai-accuses-kaduna-commissioner-of-stockpiling-weapons-to-blackmail-apc/ |

To exacerbate matters, the long and short of our current dilemma is that our politicians have succeeded in tearing our social fabric apart using the instrumentality of religion. What I find most bizarre is the present game of trading ridiculous religious propaganda. |
