Politics / Re: Senator Akinyelure Denies Voting For Under-age Marriage by MuyiGL: 9:21am On Jul 23, 2013
Who is this man's PR that can't write proper English?

That being said, we Nigerians's aren't fools. Why would the constitution have to clearly state that "a married woman is deemed to be of full age to renounce her CITIZENSHIP". Doesn't that imply that woman is underage in the first place? Or does a 30 year-old woman become "unfull" of age after she marries?

What we want is for that clause to be removed. Simple.
If he voted for it not to be removed, he by extension voted for underage marriage.

pDude: Una still wan go UK?

It is obvious they no longer want Nigerians in their country. All you lot do is feed off their benefits system. Now they will ensure you don't even try it.

Imagine delivering 6 children and expecting the tax payers to foot the bill. Bunch of Nigerian leeches.

Are you aware a lot of legit Nigerians pay tax in the UK too? Most of these taxes used to take care of unemployed and lazy UK citizens? Mr. Man cool down abeg

I'm not a fan, but it is very obvious that Nigerians will always be biased. There is nothing bad about this track. It is at the same level of quality as many of the reigning hits right now. The problem is not D'Banj, the problem is you guys. Y'all need to remove the freebies that Don Jazzy has blocked your ears with and let D' Banj be.

He really was great but I did not love him. Even after 3 years the love still did not come. I had to stop being selfish and leave him for a girl who deserves him. Really hope he finds such a girl....

You still did not love him after all that. Wow... that's all I can say. But I'm impressed that you were honest with your feelings and you probably did the right thing. But you must have broken his heart, no doubt
Culture / Re: The Myth About The Left Hand by MuyiGL: 12:36am On May 29, 2013
poshdiva: I went to buy something today and when I wanted to collect my balance, I stretched out my left hand to collect it because I am left handed. The woman refused to give me my balance and insisted I collect it with my right hand. I had to oblige because she is elderly. I am puzzled. What exactly is the myth surrounding the left hand and do you believe in this myth?

I have had to struggle with this all my life, as I am left-handed too. I just do as they please for the sake of peace. Of course only for when I'm giving or collecting money. But when I'm eating or writing, I couldn't care less what anybody says or does. That's for their pocket.

Luckily I have understanding parents who don't see anything wrong. My dad was born left handed and he went through hell with his mother till he changed. He says it affects him till this day. So the moment he realized I was left-handed too, he let me be. And he ensured that no teachers in school changed me.

I've learnt to be proud of who I am and how I was born. Seriously a lack of exposure is the reason for all these stupidity. People only need to watch TV everyday, or read the news to see great people who are left-handed; Obama, Clinton, Nadal, Messi, Babyface.... the list is endless.

Even in the Bible, a book Nigerians hold so dearly, we have Ehud and Gideon who were heroes of their time. Only Ehud was able to kill the enemy king because he was left-handed. And also the whole tribe of Benjamites was left-handed.

What surprises me is that there are people of our own generation who still think like that. I have given up trying to argue with them or please them. I am the owner of my life. People are just narrow-minded. That's the only explanation
Music/Radio / Re: 2face’s African Queen Among Africa’s Most Famous Anthems by MuyiGL: 12:30am On May 29, 2013
Not taking anything away from Tuface's African Queen, it deserves to be on the list, but this DJ, whom I've never heard about says, "for me, it was the song that introduced African music to the world"? Is this guy a joke?

Then he goes ahead and lists Antenna in the top 5? Antenna is a good song no doubt, but top 5?

This guy has no credibility abeg.

Music/Radio / Re: 2Face Ft T-Pain - My Rainbow Remix by MuyiGL: 12:17am On May 29, 2013
giditrend:
The hit track Rainbow from 2face Idibia now has a remix with American super star, T-Pain. 2face has been one of the biggest names in entertainment over the past 10 years, and you knew something like this was bound to happen sooner or later.

T-Pain does pretty well on the remix, and add his own spice to the already lovable joint. From all indications this will further catapult the song to a mega hit status.
Enjoy!

yemmy_ma:

Mode 9 - I got introduced to his songs by a friend who was a big fan. After hesitating at first, i decided to give it a try and that was it. For years, i have seen arguments on who tops him in Nigerian hip hop but i am ashamed to see that we Nigerians, though claim to know one or two things about rap are just plain commercial. We don't appreciate conscious music. I wonder how Asa managed to sell albums in the country.  He is straight classic and would go pound for pound with any American MC.

You just spoke my mind bro. I've also always wondered how Asa was able to breakthrough with her conscious music

ngozievergreen:

Even There Was A contry did.

"Father" is a titled reserved only for pioneers in a certain field. You could call him anything you like; "King", "Greatest", "Most influential"... whatever. But he is not the "father" of African literature. Simple
Politics / Re: Wole Soyinka's Interview About Chinua Achebe by MuyiGL: 8:09pm On May 21, 2013
babyosisi: Wole Soyinka should be careful not to destroy the legacy he has built by involving himself in unsavory affairs.
The first time the Prof disappointed me was when he spoke in support of Patience Jonathan's perm sec appointment, now this.

Chinua Achebe was called the father and grandfather of African literature by others
He did not label himself that
People recognized his immeasurable contribution to African literature and bestowed on him that honor in his lifetime so it is quite petty for WS whom I respect a great to utter such words.
It makes him sound jealous and he should be above such pettiness.
Michael Jackson was called the King of Pop
Elvis was the King of Rock and Roll
Donna Summer was the Queen of Disco While Aretha Franklin is and remains the Queen of soul
That label on Chinua is deserving.

Secondly why speak about Chinua's Book in his death what you couldn't say while he was alive?
I love Soyinka but his words here are beneath a man of his calibre
Maybe old age is setting in
Still respect you sir but you disappoint me here once again

"Father of pop" is not the same as "King of pop". It's really very simple. The title of "father" is only given to pioneers of a certain genre or field. African writers have been writing as long as 20 years before Chinua Achebe even put pen to paper to write Things Fall Apart. There's no way, Chinua Achebe is the father of African Literature. I don't know why people like you can't get this. Just because a couple of white men, who knew nothing about African literature before Chinua, call him the "father" doesn't make him the father.
Maybe you wanna call him the "king of African literature" that's fine, but he is in no way the "Father"

lymelyte: Una just dey talk anyhow.U guyz are just too blind to see.do u guys think rim hasn't taught about this for a while.MY friends,Great thinkers(rim) have plans.they are looking up to the future with numerous opportunities where BB will be superior to any other fone on planet earth.JUST WATCH and SEE.is it not obvious that u guys keep talking about bb all the time? All this are distinct strategies and plans.
Rim is coming out with BBM money soon (future version). This feature allows BBM users to transfer money, which is convenient for
friends who owe each other money, or in-
person transactions..

BBM 6 already had far more functionality
than Apple’s iMessage. With the addition of
voice calls, video, collaboration tools and
BBM Money, BBM is set to widen the lead
further. Also, launching it on platform like iOS and droid will kill other messaging apps on this os platforms therefore making people rely on bbm.Mind u,those using blackberry, will now have some minute distinct features that other fones like iphone and droid won't have. TIME WILL TELL and BELIEVE DAT.. smiley.
Na wa ooo..see as DRIOD users are craving for recognition..smiley

Android has Google Hangouts which can do all these things. And there is already Google wallet with which you can send money via email or NFC. So I don't know what you're on about. Most BB-only users are just ignorant. They're like the average American who doesn't know anything that's going on beyond the world around him

survival1: I may seeing dis topic late bt my question is does andriod phones have push mail like in bb where u recieve instant mail on d go nd also reply instantly because dis what kipin wit bb due 2 my nature of work.

Of course, all smartphones have push notifications. It has been the standard for at least 5 years now. What's more, you don't have to pay "full BIS" before you can use multiple emails on these other platforms. Even with a N1300 monthly plan, you can add as many emails as you need. Port to Android or iOS bro. We eagerly await your move smiley

Emmysteve: Does that mean other telecomunication company lyk Etisalat and Glo MUST HAVE to make their BIS subscribtions available to android phones seriously thinking

No it does not. Data is data. BBM will run through the usual data bundle on those platforms
Computers / Re: How I Enabled Whatsapp Work On My Pc by MuyiGL: 7:20pm On May 17, 2013
Kelvindwaplord: an ideal replacement for those who can't afford blackberry messenger ...

Uh? Whatsapp is for those who "can't afford" BBM you say?

Anyway, you should all know that if you're gonna use whatsapp on PC, you can't have the same account running on PC and Phone simultaneously. That means you can have an active installation of whatsapp on your phone and use that same number on the PC installation; you'll end up being blocked. So it's either you use another existing number to register for the one on PC, or you delete the one on your phone an switch to PC permanent.
