TonyeBarcanista: Your inbuilt hatred and envy on the Ijaws will consume you if you don't retrace your steps.
Ijaw is the largest group in Rivers state, that is not something to contest. There is NOTHING to verify...
BTW Rivers is ONE but justice and equity must be upheld. Ijaw is living in delusion. Igbos are the majority in RIvers and in democracy its all about numbers. You can call every village an "ethnic nationality" to deceive yourself but stop wailing when your mischievious ways haunt you. 9. To deny Rivers Ijaw the governorship of new Rivers State because Diete-Spiff and Okilo were governors of old Rivers State, is like denying Ikwerre the governorship because Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Dr. Michael Okpara and Odumegwu Ojukwu were premiers/military governor of old Eastern Region that included present Rivers State. |

Clonus: Why is this write-up just coming up? Why did It not pre date 2015 general elections? I was so ashamed of being a Rivers man when the only reason given (even by the Rivers Ijaw people)for handing over power to Wike was that he was the only one who can wrestle power from Amaechi, they even alluded albeit shamefully that an opobo man is not a Riverine. I am sorry to say but for me this cry is a little too late. You know what's going to happen,Wike leaves in 2023, an ogoni man leaves in 2031 then we can think of who next. My one cent. Another confession. You see what i am saying?? They know Opobos are more Igboid than Ijoid |

You may like it or not but Ijaws have been our neighbors and will continue as so for a long time ( unless you're planning a genocide tomorrow). The issue of "abandoned property" and creation of states is just part of a grand scheme to limit our aspirations and divide our strenght. You can't fall for this. You may admire the Aros but remember that their greatest strength was their diplomacy. Truth is not bitterness |

vantage001: But india and Nigeria were in the same boat. Both brutally colonized by britain. India today is a military and technologically power. There are very few weapons in the US defence industry that india is not allowed to buy. They have access to the top range of western and eastern technologies. And the US takes them very seriously like a partner. Infact, the manufacturer of US warplanes(lockheed) has entered the bid to produce american F-16s fighter jets on indian soils by indian engineers for the indian airforce to aid in the developing of the nascent indian aerospce industry. That is what i forsee for biafra. A stooge that grew to become a partner because of hardwork and industry. Love the way these zoogerians are being educated by smart biafrans |

Curlieweed: You made some good points earlier but you had to unnecessarily resort to the usual NL stereotyping. Ijaws are not all drunkards as you infer. I have Ijaw family members and they are as accomplished as they come. It's not true that Ijaws lagged behind in the old Eastern region. You should check this out. The inconsistencies you pointed out here are the usual tricks of political manipulations most Nigerian politicians employ. It exists in every state and should not be a reason to single out Ijaws for opprobrium. In any case there is probably more Igbo blood in Rivers Ijawland than some SE communities you think are Igbo.
However, the real issue here isn't necessarily that some groups are evil while others are wonderful but the fact that you're running a system that ignores the reality of diversity. The Aros successfully ran a confederacy that covered a large part of the old Eastern region ( during a very turbulent period) that ensured peace and trade by preserving the autonomy of individual communities.
Switzerland has 4 distinct national languages ( German, Italian, French and Romansh) but that has not prevented them from building a prosperous, peaceful nation. Again, all 26 Swiss cantons (sub-national) units are largely autonomous. In fact , there is no Swiss president in the traditional sense. The executive arm of government constitutes of a 7 member Federal council with each member acting as president for a year. I hope we are getting the drift. So you know that the Aro confederacy with headquarter in arochukwu Igboland ran a successful confederacy covering many ethnic groups and succesfully managed everything but yoruba and hausa came and told you that igbo is oppressing you and they are now your savior and you went ahead and stole igbo properties In your greed you carved a chunk of igboland and merged with yours to rule over but now it has failed and you are wailing |

ceomike: After a few quarters of negative growth that saw the death of businesses, the Nigerian economy is out of recession, but “conditions remain difficult for businesses,” World Economics said Tuesday.
World Economics is a London-based organisation dedicated to producing financial analysis, insight and data relating to questions of key importance to the world economy.
“April Sales Managers’ Index (SMI) data suggests that the Nigerian economy is continuing to grow out of the recession which saw 10 months of consecutive contraction in 2016,” it said in a release published on its website.

franchizy: A very good and inspiring writeup. The Ijaws have really been duped, redicled, tosed hither and thither like birds without feathets.
Enough is Enough and come 2019 power must change hands. Any attempt by Wike and his comerades to deny ijaws the Brick House will be resisted by all means.
Our militants were used by wike to defeat Amaechi and should Wike and PDP decide to present Wike for second term, its obvious that PDP will lose to any party that presents a credible Ijaw man.
I call on all ijaws to rise up to their voices and clamour for support for a credible ijaw man as the next Governor of Rivers state.
PDP should learn from her past and stop reaping Harvest of mistakes.
I urge wike to begin now to prepare his handover notes.
Cc: Tonyebacarnista Ijaws will never rule until they tell themselves the truth on the issue of ethnicity. identify all igbos in rivers as igbos and make the rotation Igbo vs Ijaw. If you keep lumping all ijoid groups as ijaw but keep separating all igboid groups as different "ethnic nationalities" they will rotate it among themselves before Ijaws can have another chance. They are just using Igbo denial to fool you but you don't know. After shying away from calling any group Igbo, the writer shot himself on the foot with this analogy 9. This statements simply means that Ijaws know very well that ikwerres are igbos, why they allowed themselves to be fooled by their igbo denial still baffles me |

The kind of violence and bad roads especially seen in Odufor is out of this world. I Dont think there's a single tarred road in umukanukwu,Umuobiri, and a number of places. The roads are just too poor because of total negligence on the part of our leaders. The better we are given the chance to Rule and curb several youth violence calling themselves umuoma, the better for us all in the state. Well afonjas and other ignorant folks can see from this your post that only Portharcourt environs changed names from UMU to RUMU by the greedy lazy Ijaws in a bid to de-igbonize PH and steal it. all hinterland retain their original UMU such as the places you mentioned above |

It is funny how Ijaws like crying of "marginalization and oppression" of minorities in Old Eastern region. Are Ijaws the only minority back then?? THese Ijaws keep drinking ogogoro and refuse to improve themselves but want good things on a platter of gold. After the Nigeria govt gave them everything on a platter, can you now see how they have failed to sustain it Efik/Ibibio, with their great human resource, where always on top hierarchy of everything in the old Eastern region. Ijaws could not muster the necessary needed human capital back then, that is why they had to lag behind in the meritocracy driven society back then. They are now being ego massaged by the oil addicted Nigerian govt to feel more important than others but the truth is that, they are still very backward. Their bid to upgrade their importance with the ambigous "Niger Delta" is dead on arrival, igboid groups still run the show in the so called "Niger delta" |

And remember that dividing the igbo group into smaller groups and calling each of them "ethnic nationality" will do you more harm than good. In the event that Ikwerre want to rotate the governoship to another "ethnic nationality" they will argue that Ijaws should wait for those who have not smelled the seat before and go for their fellow igbos in Etche or Oyigbo |
Politics › Re: 2019 Rivers State Governorship: The Rivers Ijaw Position by MXrep: 4:10pm On Apr 18, 2017 |
you lump all ijaw sub groups together and call them one, then separate all igbo and igboid groups and use it as basis to claim majority. Continue decieving yourselves, While all these igbo groups can speak and understand central igbo, the ijoid group have no central language that is mutually intelligible to all. Why you tried to resist the temptation of calling these what they really are (Igbos) you later shot yourself on the foot with this analogy
IT is funny, that a group of riverine minorities want a state for themselves and free from the purported igbo domination but greed did not allow them to remove all parts of igboland from their new state. Ikwere denying being igbo is never a problem to igbos, they do not care at all, what matters is that Ijaws has been kicked out from Portharcourt, which they enjoyed briefly as their war bounty for their betrayal. Micheal Okpara built PH, Enugu coal was the only reason the colonialist built a port there. Ijaws should go and build Yenagoa which was a masterstroke by Igbo political leaders led by late Azikiwe |

nonsobaba: ...it is rather, what we do to influence their decisions when in office. For example, in d anambra case, our ppl have shown how politically vibrant we are by ensuring that PDP was punished and never given the opportunity to rule anambra again after their crimes led by Ngige and Ubah. And the result has been back to back good governance frm APGA which we still put on their toes to ensure their continued accountability. It is laughable to assume that enugu state is experiencing good governance just because it citizens are too docile to engage their govt. Even in Imo state, when ohakim crossed d line by manhandling a priest, the people voted him out in unison! That is a vibrant political environment. You can't tell me that enugu state has been witnessing good governance frm PDP all these years, if not ur people wouldn't be flooding even the remotest parts of anambra state in search of jobs while ur villages are deserted, unless good governance to d average enugu indigene means just tarring of roads in enugu town hehehehe, anambra only attract illiterates traders. Anambra upper class have all fled to Enugu to enjoy the product of good governance clearly lacking in anambra. Imo voted Ohakim out now crying about Okoroawusa, is that the political vibrancy you want for us Sullivan's silent transformation placed Enugu on world map as the only ROcafella resilient city before Lagos later joined. He worked without noise. Ugwuanyi is now silently transforming Nsukka. |

nonsobaba: The old anambra state was one. We saw u as our brothers and hence no need to discriminate when it came to politics. We had already had Zik, Asika et al presiding over the entire Eastern region, so what was old Anambra to lose sleep over? You are coming frm a wrong position by mentioning some crimes committed by the ruling class in anambra state. It happens everywhere else. You didn't mention also that Chimaroke Nnamani stole state money to build cosmo fm, schools etc. He also attempted to assasinate Rev Mbaka and so on. These are not what i mean when i said a vibrant polity should have drama. I was coming from the angle of the electorates because we really have no power over what the elected do when they take office. all governors steal money, we are not talking about stealing here. So you remember the Mbaka-Chimaroke saga and still claim enugu politics was docile?? Meanwhile he attempted, but did not kidnap him. Or have you forgotten FIdel Ayogu (Onwa Enugu Ezike) who gave very fierce oppositiion with ANPP? or Nwodo vs Sullivan saga? We are not docile, we are just matured |
