Politics / Auchi Attack: Oshiomhole Wants Police Probed by mynaija123(m): 3:59pm On Dec 05, 2012
Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has called on the Inspector-General of Police to investigate how criminals sacked the Police Area Command and Divisional Police Station, freed inmates and held Auchi town in Edo North hostage for over three hours with no response from the police. The Governor who made the call yesterday during an inspection of the First Bank, Access Bank, Ecobank, soldiers’ quarters and the police formations attacked by bandits last week Auchi, said there is need for the police to do a soul-searching to see if there are no men within the police who did not compromise security. According to the governor, “to think that a police station with arms could be attacked and the police could not gun down one criminal gives cause for worry. “I was not happy that the police had to park the Armoured Personnel Carrier behind the Area Commander’s office instead of being at strategic locations in Auchi town. It shows that the police are not using the funds given to them maximally. I am not impressed because the APC ought to be in operation. “The fact that the APC was packed at the back of the station and bombed there means that it was not put to maximum use. It is unacceptable. They should begin to account for their negligence of duty, incompetence or both. Until we begin to do that, this lamentation will continue and criminals will continue to operate and demystify the state and make us look like a collection of mushrooms that can be consumed with minimal efforts. “I believe the police will have to do investigation to reassure us that we are safe. The fact that they can attack two police formations and do that kind of damage shows the need to revisit the role of policing and their operational order,” he said. The governor however praised the Army for the five soldiers who repelled the attack and killed one of the bandits who attacked and attempted to bomb a private residence where the soldiers reside. “The point has been made that if you attack a military base you will pay a huge price. For me, that is a little relief that one of the bandits was killed by the soldiers in the sense that his identity will help us to assist the security agencies in their investigations,” he noted. The governor expressed shock at the sheer guts of the criminals, saying that investigations being carried out by the security agencies will help to unravel what happened. “The security agencies are investigating and I have no reason to believe that their investigation will not lead to positive outcome that will help us to identify these criminals. But much more important is to learn the right lessons from the incident to take security issues more seriously than has been the case. “I am troubled by what I saw, but we are not giving up. The criminals cannot win; they must be defeated and brought to justice. Let reassure your highness that the irreducible responsibility of any government is to protect lives and property. If government cannot protect lives and property, then we are in trouble. “I accept responsibility as the Governor of Edo State for what happened. We have a duty to contribute in ensuring security. I do hope that you appreciate that what has happened is not because of wont of efforts, it is in spite of efforts. “We have spent our meagre resources at the level of Edo State government to support the Police by providing vehicles and even communication gadgets. We have set up ‘Operation Thunderstorm’ and persuaded the President and Commander-in-Chief to allow the Army to join the Police to complement the efforts of the Police to patrol the cities across the state. “Ordinarily, the Army should not be involved in civil policing but because of the sheer deficiency on the side of the Police, we had to get the Army to reinforce the Police. This is why you have seen soldiers manning the Operation Thunderstorm. We will continue to provide support for the Police, we will continue to pay allowances to officers and men who are involved in patrolling; we will continue to ensure that the Police must search their ranks to ensure that we don’t have criminals wearing uniforms, providing sensitive information to criminals that seems to help them to achieve the kind of damage they have done here without the criminals counting their losses. “We must ask more fundamental questions on the role of the Police and insist on responsible answers. Everything must be done to ensure that Edo State does not become part of the high security zones in the country. “I’ll like to commiserate with the people of Auchi Kingdom. My heart goes to the families who were killed, and in particular, those soldiers whose only reason for being where they are is to watch over us so that we can keep our eyes closed. “I’m calling on the Police authorities to do proper internal investigation and ensure that those who were negligent are brought to book.” The Otaru of Auchi, Alhaji Aliru Momoh, Ikelebe 111 said he praised Almighty Allah that although the bandits operated for over three hours, they succeeded in taking money from only one of the three banks attacked and he congratulated the governor who has done everything to ensure the security of the state. He said to complement the security agencies, the government set up vigilance groups. He however lamented that the vigilance groups did not have arms to repel the criminals and defend the community. He said a way out of the present security challenge is for the government to liberalise the law on weapons so that everybody can defend himself. The traditional ruler disclosed that he is aware that approval has been given for the deployment of Mobile police men to Auchi which is the fastest growing community in Nigeria with boundaries with other states and for about a year now they are not there. He prayed Allah to bring perpetrators of the criminal act to justice saying “anybody who has come to this community to do this harm will come to justice, Insha Allah. Almighty Allah will bring them to justice.”

Politics / Oshiomhole Dissolves Exco by mynaija123(m): 12:13pm On Nov 09, 2012
Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state yesterday dissolved the state executive committee, thanking them for their selfless service to the state. At the valedictory exco session held in Benin City, yesterday, Governor Oshiomhole said “I want to use this opportunity to say how much I appreciate your efforts.” In an emotion-laden voice, Governor Osghiomhole said: “four years down the road, working together, arguing, debating, even sometimes disagreeing, we have provided a collective leadership to the people of Edo State. We have served them diligently with all our hearts. “You are the least paid commissioners in the country, but that did not dampen your morale to put in your best efforts. I want to thank you very much for what God has used you to do for me and your state. Thank you for the sacrifices you have made.” “I thought it wise that having worked so hard, it is right to appreciate you. “On Sunday, I recognize it will be full time for the first tenure of this administration and when it is full time, no matter how interesting the game is, the referee must blow the whistle and end the game. The life of this council comes to an end on Sunday, not today , because that is when the end of the first tenure of this administration will come to an end, so you are still Commissioners even after this statement till 11:59pm Sunday.” Responding ion behalf of his colleagues, the state Attorney-general and Commissioner for Justice, Osagie Obayuwana thanked the Governor for giving them the opportunity and the free hand to serve. He said “the experience of working with the Governor has been a school of leadership for us, which was defined by the highest level of congeniality”, adding “I doubt if there is any other exco in any other state in the country comparable to the one we had here.” He said last sitting of the exco “is a day of celebration because an example has been set that when there is a will, there will, there will always be a way, and this this will endure for all time. Also present at the valedictory exco session were the Deputy Governor, Dr Pius Odubu, Secretary to the State Government, Dr Simon Imuekemhe, Head of Service, Princess Ekiuwa Inneh, Chief of staff, Osarodion Ogie and all the commissioners in the state. Governor Adams Oshiomhole will be sworn-in for a second term in Monday, November 12.
Politics / Oshiomhole Dissolves LG Caretakers by mynaija123(m): 7:21pm On Nov 06, 2012
Oshiomhole dissolves LG caretakers   Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole yesterday gave his nod to the resolution passed by  the State House of Assembly dissolving the eighteen Local Government Transition Committee Chairmen, asking the Head of Service in the various local governments to take over the day-to-day running of the Local Governments. The governor at a meeting with the former Transition Committee Chairmen and the Head of Service of the Local Governments at the Government House said that after examining the resolution of the House of Assembly, he is satisfied that it is in the best interest of the state. He however told the Head of Service of the Local Governments that they are to ensure that only the salaries of teachers and local government employees are paid, stressing that they are not to run those local governments as if they were sole administrators. “I have invited you to brief you about a recent development. You are aware of the resolution passed by the House of Assembly as regards the tenure of the local government transition committees.  We have considered the resolution which has since been transmitted to my office and we have examined it and we are satisfied that it is done in good faith and in the best interest of our state.   Accordingly, we have resolved to accept the dissolution of the transition committees, which means the chairmen of the transition committees, the councilors and the supervisors’ tenure have come to an end, by reason of this decision”, Comrade Oshiomhole noted. While commending the transition committees caretakers, the governor said, “I want to place on record my appreciation of the transition committees for the leadership they provided within the Local Government Areas in the last two years and a month. “Everything considered, I am convinced that the chairmen have given a good account of themselves and they have impacted in various ways in the life of the people in their respective local governments. I have seen schools that have been built by some of the local governments, I have seen health centres and a couple of other development projects, even street lights in some cases,” he said. He further added that, “overall when I look at the score cards of the transition committee chairmen and compare it to those of their predecessors who were elected, I believe these set of chairmen have done better that their predecessors, but as they say there is time for everything and by the nature of caretaker leadership there is no defined tenure of office and it is meant to be a stop gap depending on when elections are conducted.” The governor disclosed that, “now that we have cleared the coast, we are sorting out the remaining legal issues as regard to the State Independent Electoral Commission and we believe over the next few months election to local governments would be conducted, but before then we have asked the transition committee chairmen to hand over the affairs to the Head of Service in their respective local government areas.” Warning the Head of Service of the Local Governments not to act as sole administrators, Oshiomhole said: “If there are specific development that requires their actions or further actions, those specific developments will be discussed and specific approvals will be given. Anything you want to do ensure you have approval in black and white to avoid misconception. Our instruction is not that you should go and pay for contracts or pay contractors. You must now give priority to payment of those accumulated salaries.” he added. According to him, some of  the local governments for one reason or the other and the way which the State Universal Education Board SUBEB posted teachers some local governments have been overloaded, such that after the payment of salaries in some cases do not have enough to pay salaries of local government employees.

Politics / Oshiomhole Promotes Three Teachers, Demotes Principal by mynaija123(m): 12:45pm On Oct 31, 2012
Oshiomhole promotes three teachers, demotes principal   Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has ordered the immediate promotion of three teachers even as he directed the demotion of the Principal of Annunciation Catholic College Junior Secondary School over alleged incompetence. Oshiomhole who announced this measure yesterday while on an on-the-spot assessment of the attendance and punctuality of teachers in schools at Edo Central said “it gives me some confidence to find all is not lost”. According to the governor who gave cash gifts to some other teachers for their commitment to duty said: “you are an example of what is possible and I am proud of you. It gives me some comfort that even in the midst of this madness, there are some people who we can still be proud of, who take their responsibilities seriously.  It gives me some relief. It is worrisome to find that majority of teachers are involved in late coming or absenteeism.  And that is not the best we can do for our state. “When we punish those who are guilty of late coming or absenteeism, we should reward those who are doing their job well.  We have to use the carrot and stick.  I am happy that we have a few of you who recognize that the work place is a serious place and you have a contract and you have a duty to service that contract”, he said. The Governor who reiterated his belief in education remarked “we must bequeath to our children a better society and education is at the heart of our future”. He noted that if all Nigerians work according to the rules and regulations and we give our best to the country and state, the country will grow; adding that “if we keep looking for excuses the country will keep having challenges. “Nigeria is not perfect and it cannot be perfect if each of us do not play our part” he added. Expressing his confidence in the system, Oshiomhole said “I am happy you give me some confidence to find that all is not lost because it hurts to find that teachers do not take their jobs seriously.  Edo can’t be the same again”. Oshiomhole said “every child may not be a graduate no matter what we do.  There is no country where every person is a graduate. But every child is entitled to free qualitative education; that requires that we make the right investment in infrastructure”. The Governor who harped on the need for teachers to take their jobs seriously said “it is important that we do not allow you to think that to be late to work is not a serious offence”. To the principal who was demoted to a classroom teacher, Oshiomhole said “as a Principal, you never ensured that your teachers complied with the regulation.  You led your teachers in coming late and we will not retain you as a Principal.  We will down grade you to a classroom teacher.  A leader must lead by example”.

Education / Oshiomhole Fires 41 School Inspectors, Demotes Principal by mynaija123(m): 4:42pm On Oct 17, 2012
Oshiomhole fires 41 school inspectors, demotes principal

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State yesterday announced the removal of 41 zonal inspectors and chief inspectors of education and local government education officers over non-performance and negligence of duty in continuation of the on-going sanitization of the state education sector. The decision, according to him, was the outcome of a continuing performance audit.

Also, the governor announced the demotion of the Vice Principal of New Era College, Mr. S.E Akhabue, from Grade Level 15 to Grade Level 14 for being a perpetual latecomer. While meeting the affected school inspectors and officers at the Government House, the governor disclosed that the administrative details of the change in the school inspectorate would be made known in the coming days.

It would be recalled that the governor had paid series of unscheduled visits to public schools across the state in the last two weeks, where he made mind-boggling discoveries bordering on absenteeism or dereliction of duty by teachers. Addressing the inspectors yesterday, Oshiomhole said: “It’s obvious from what I’ve seen today and from what you’ve told me that you’ve all breached your basic duties, which is to monitor schools and file basic reports, which among things, should include reports on those present and absent so that government can take steps to assist those who want to work to remain and those who don’t want to work to go home.

“Edo State Government has lost millions of naira of taxpayers’ money because of your failure to do your duties. “You are guilty of negligence of duty and even abandonment of your duties. I believe that most times, you don’t even come to work. We do not need this set of zonal inspectors of education, chief inspectors of education and local government education inspectors. “The days are gone when people don’t do their jobs. It’s shocking that you recognize that you are supposed to have written reports, yet you fail to do so.

“I am happy that parents and guardians are returning their children and wards to public schools as a result of the massive investment we have made in the education sector, yet, you who are to ensure that teachers work do not do so. “I’m not hiding the fact that only those who are willing to work will keep their jobs. Everybody must be accountable.” I am accountable to the Edo people, the House of Assembly is accountable, and so if we are accountable, who are you not to be accountable.

“If the teachers don’t teach, we have no future and your brief is to ensure that the teachers work and yet you failed to do that. “It’s a new Edo, everybody must be put on notice to work and justify their pay. I have a duty to remind you that when you have abandoned your job, you have also lost it.” The Vice Principal of New Era College, Mr. Akhabue, who was demoted by a grade level during an unscheduled visit to the school by the governor, was found guilty of perpetually getting to the office late.

The time-book of the teachers, which the governor went through showed that the vice principal sometimes got to the office as late as 9:55a.m.

Politics / Re: Oshiomole Wins Round One. Judge Say Airhiabvere On A Wild Goose Chase by mynaija123(m): 3:21pm On Sep 27, 2012
Tribunal dismisses Airhiavbere's petition against Oshiomhole.  The Edo State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Benin City yesterday dismissed the petition filed by Major General Charles Ehigie Airhiavbere (Rtd), challenging the educational qualifications of Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, describing it as a wide goose chase.    In his ruling, the Tribunal Chairman, Suleiman Ambursa said the petition is a pre-election matter that ought to be dispensed long before the July 14, 2012 governorship election. According to him, after examining the affidavits, counter affidavits and submissions of the counsels for the respondents and petitioner, the tribunal has no jurisdiction on what took place in 2007.   The tribunal chairman averred that in line with constitutional provisions, candidates are expected to submit copies of their documents to the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, before the election and that the same constitution mandates the electoral body to publish the said documents in order that any other candidate that is not satisfied with the information contained in the said documents can approach the Federal High Court for appropriate interpretation.“Any person who has any reasonable ground to contest the educational qualification of the first respondent, should seek a declaration in the high court,” the tribunal noted.  For failing to follow constitutional provisions, the tribunal described the action of the petitioner as a wild goose chase. It therefore struck out the petition on the ground that it is a pre-election matter that ought to have been sorted out before the July 14 governorship election.     Meanwhile, the tribunal will deliver ruling today on the motion by the petitioner that the governorship election was marred by irregularities and therefore seeking the Independent National Electoral Commission to release the voters’ register to them.

Politics / Oshiomole In A Canoe Helping Flood Victims: Photos by mynaija123(m): 5:14pm On Sep 24, 2012
Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has ordered the immediate release of N100 million to provide relief materials to victims of the flood-ravaged communities in Etsako Central, Etsako East, and  Esan South East Local Government Areas of the state. He also assured that government will look for a long-term solution to avoid a re-occurrence in the future just as he said Government will liaise with the Federal Government to get relief for the displaced persons.

The governor who visited the displaced persons and the flooded communities said the natural disaster caused by the overflowing of the River Niger has led to the loss of property worth billions of naira in the state. "What has happened is an act of God and no one can challenge the will of God. In other parts of the country, we have heard of the loss of lives, but so far we have not recorded any death. Let us pray that the river goes  back to its boundary," the governor noted.

According to him, "as a government we will try as much as possible to reduce the hardship suffered by the people by providing relief materials. What we cannot change we will bear it. President Goodluck Jonathan  and the Federal Government are concerned about this calamity."

Comrade Oshiomhole who flew in an helicopter and also rode in a canoe to get to the affected communities to see for himself the extent of damage done by the flood, admonished them to remain faithful that the calamity will soon be over to enable them return to their father land. "We are sending relief materials which must be shared to everybody irrespective of which political party they belong to, and doctors will be sent to treat those who are sick. We are also sending the Comrade Buses to evacuate those still in the flooded communities to the camps" he added.

The ravaging flood which has taken over twenty communities with a population of over 500,000 persons, destroyed virtually everything in the affected areas including, buildings, house hold properties and food crops in their farmlands.    At the Ekperi Grammar School, Ugbekpe Ekperi, there were over 60, 000 refugees from Yuluwa village, Ofukpo, Agbabu, Iguzi-Ofukpe, Udaba, Unudoboh, Udaba-Ogho, Anegette all in Etsako Central.

The palace of the Daudu of Usumegbe, Chief John Musa and that of the village head of Udaba Chief David Inetape are among the buildings that have been submerged in the flood.  In  Agenebode, the  headquarters of Etsako East Local Government area and its surrounding villages have also been taken over by the flood, while Ilushi, Urho, Urhowa and Inyelen in Esan South East Local Government Area  have completely been destroyed by the flood with the entire people moved to Ubiaja the council headquarters.

Narrating his ordeal, one of the affected persons Alhaji Sedenu Mohammed said he fled his Udochi community with his two wives and seven children without salvaging even a pin from his house, saying he was only lucky to move his family away from the ravaging flood which he said took them unawares. Meanwhile, public-spirited individuals have started sending  relief materials to the displaced persons to ameliorate their plight.

Special Report
By TAYE OBATERU

Almost everything about the story is related to the Word, the Holy Bible. It is a story involving a pastor’s mother-in-law, told by a pastor and corroborated by pastors and Born-Again Christians.
When, in John Chapter 11 of the Holy Bible Jesus Christ was told that Lazarus, the brother of Mary and Martha, was ill, he said it was for God’s glory. Lazarus eventually died and was laid in the tomb for four days before Jesus eventually got there.  And a miracle happened:  Christ caused the resurrection of Lazarus.
Well, that was in the time of old.
Today, in Akure, Ondo State, a state where intriguing mysteries would never cease to happen, a similar miracle unfolded recently – mind you, here was the same Akure where a lady travelled to, entered a bank and splashed human faeces on a female banker on allegations of husband snatching.
A 67-year old mother of three resurrected 12 days after being pronounced clinically dead! Stranger than fiction you might say.
But this is the story of Mama Victoria Gbemisola Babatunde (née Bolarinwa) who was certified dead on January 7, this year but is now back to life, hale and hearty.
She would have been buried almost immediately she was certified dead.
But something delayed the burial: The nationwide strike against the removal of fuel subsidy made it impossible for the children to gather to arrange her burial.
A date was eventually fixed and the children were on their way for the burial when they learnt that she had resurrected!
Mrs Victoria Babatunde, the resurrected womanThe moving story was told to Sunday Vanguard by her son-in-law, Pastor Andrew Ozoemena, who had earlier, last Sunday, given a testimony at the Living Faith Church, Jengre Road, Jos, where Mama, as she is popularly called, used to fellowship before she relocated to Ondo State following the persistent crisis in Jos.
Members of the Elders Council of the church to which Mrs. Babatunde belonged had actually contributed some money in support of her burial when they heard of her demise only to be told later that she was back to life.
Many, like Thomas in the Bible, doubted the story until they learnt of her arrival in Jos. The home of the Ozoemenas, located around British American Junction, Jos, had since her return, become a centre of attraction as many go there to catch a glimpse of the ‘resurrected’ woman.
Pastor Ozoemena, a missionary, married to Abimbola, Mrs Babatunde’s first daughter, narrated the story to Sunday Vanguard in what he tagged a “Millennium Testimony”.
Excerpts:
“On Saturday, 7 January, 2012, around 10 p.m., my wife received a call from her uncle, Pastor Amos, who is based in Akure, Ondo State, that Mama, my mother-in-law, who had been with him, was seriously ill and on admission in hospital. He said the sickness was so serious that she could give up the ghost any time soon.
We began to pray to ask God to have mercy on the old woman and spare her from dying now. We held on to God’s promise in Luke Chapter 1:37, that “with God nothing shall be impossible” and I kept on rejecting the idea of my mother-in-law’s death, declaring that she will not die now.
“However, another call came in by 2 a.m. that is Sunday morning that she had been confirmed dead by a doctor’s report.
The news was devastating, but there was nothing we could do, so I went into prayers and asked God to take control. We knew we had to start planning for the burial and we planned to travel on Monday (January 9) to Akure to make necessary arrangements. But this was not to be as the protests and nationwide strike against fuel subsidy removal made it impossible to travel.
“Meanwhile, we were also told that the corpse of Mama was rejected at the hospital in Akure because of the strike, so the only available option was to invite mortuary attendants to embalm her at home. We kept on praying and believing God for the strike to be called off soonest to enable us travel for her burial. With a death certificate already issued, we began to break the news of her death to our friends, relations and others close to us and many visited or sent their condolence messages.
I told my wife to inform her mother’s church members and the pastor in Living Faith Church about the death of her mother and she eventually did on 18 January, 2012 during the church’s midweek service. At the end of the meeting, the elders of the church even gave my wife some money in support of the burial.
“Contrary to our expectation, the nationwide strike lasted for more than a week thereby further delaying our journey to make the burial arrangements, but little did we realize that God was using it to achieve a purpose. This is because, if not for the strike, she would have been buried.
We had sent money for necessary burial arrangements to be made but it was impossible to go ahead with the burial since all Mama’s three children were based outside Ondo State and it would have been against Yoruba tradition to bury her in their absence. Pressure was mounted on my wife, being the first child, to find a way of getting to Ondo for the burial to go on but all efforts to travel failed.
“Since the corpse was at home and not in the mortuary, as I earlier explained, the family had to employ the services of mortuary personnel who visited to administer a vaccine called clurophune on daily basis to preserve the body from decaying.
We did not realize that God was already doing a miracle, but on the fifth day after her demise, my brother in-law called to inform us that her body had begun to grow warm. Based on this development, we intensified prayers and urged God to give us what we said would be a testimony of the millennium.
“In a dramatic turn of events, Mama sneezed and opened her eyes on the ninth day of her death, as the mortuary attendant was busy taking care of her body. The startled mortuary attendant ran out of the room and called on family members and those around to come and witness what she saw.
After sneezing and opening her eyes, she did not utter any word for three days, making people unsure of her actual state. Three days after this incident, that is, on 20 January, the 12th day of her being pronounced dead, she spoke to her younger brother (Pastor Amos) and even drank water and ate some food.
This  development was kept away from us because the mortuary attendant was said to have advised against breaking the news in view of similar past experiences when people came back to life momentarily after days of being pronounced dead only to be found dead later.
Since the burial date had already been fixed for Saturday, 21 January, my wife took off for Akure on Friday the 20th while I was to travel by night bus that same night to join her the next morning. She eventually arrived in Akure at about 10p.m. that day only to be told that her mother had just resurrected.  Naturally, she was shocked and did not believe it initially until the whole thing was explained to her.
“After she recovered a little and regained her memory, Mama told her children that she would like to come to Jos to share her testimony and the message which the Lord gave her for the body of Christ. Right now, she is staying with me and my family in Jos. Since her arrival, people come to my house on daily basis to hear her testimony.
“Three days after her arrival in Jos, my wife and I took her to the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) for medical examinations and necessary treatments. We were also privileged that one of our neighbors, Evangelist Femi Alu, linked us with his friend, Evangelist/Doctor Ezekiel, a Sri Lankan who works in JUTH. When he heard the testimony of my mother-in-law, he was astonished seeing the same old woman on her feet.
“He and other doctors said it was very rare to see someone who was dead for many days come back to life with all the parts of the body still functioning normally.
They said that some people who died and eventually came back to life often experienced malfunctioning of parts of their body. Some of them became blind, deaf or became paralyzed, but my mother-in-law’s case was exceptionally different. With this testimony, some of the doctor’s colleagues got born again, that very day at the hospital. The doctors carried out some tests on her and the results showed that she was formally dead.
Even the acid called clurophune that was injected into her body for the preservation of her corpse from decaying was also indicated on the results.”
MRS BABATUNDE’S TESTIMONY
“I went to heaven and I saw Jesus seated at the right hand of God. Jesus took me to hell and I saw those who had been in hell for more than a thousand years and they were being tormented day and night. I also saw the angels worshipping and singing round the clock in heaven and the gates and the entire streets of heaven were pure gold.
“Thereafter, Jesus now told me to go back to the world and accomplish my purpose on earth and to inform other Christians about what I saw.”
Commenting on Mama’s testimony, Pastor Ozoemena said: “If a woman (widow), aged 67, still has some purpose to accomplish,  I believe this is a wake-up call for we the younger generation and the entire body of Christ in the world.”

Politics / Edo PDP Governorship Aspirant Dragged To EFCC Over Alleged Fraud by mynaija123(m): 6:01pm On Apr 16, 2012
A leading governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State, retired General Charles Ehigie Aiwiriavbere, has been dragged before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over allegations of fraud.
Aiwiriavbere, a former Army Director of Finance and Administration, was dragged before the EFCC by a human rights activist for allegedly embezzling part of the entitlements of the 27 soldiers that were initially jailed for life for mutiny but had the sentences commuted to discharge from service.

The soldiers, including four women, protested the failure of the Nigerian Army to pay them their full entitlements for their tour of duty in Liberia between 2007 and 2008.
According to the human rights activist who dragged Aiwiriavbere before the EFCC, Shehu Omar Mohammed, the anti-graft agency should investigate allegations that the governorship aspirant knows about the missing money that should have been for the payment of the now discharged soldiers.
Mohammed, in the petition dated February 7, 2012, said in part: "Their (27 soldiers who returned from Liberia without full entitlements) allowances were diverted by some senior military officers who set them up, got them dismissed and tried for mutiny. Whereas, their offences was because they had the effrontery to ask for their well-deserved dues."
Mohammed said owing to the alleged involvement of Aiwiriavbere in the partial payment of the soldiers, the Nigerian Army heirarchy had to let him go, adding that the general was not properly disengaged from service.
He said: "He was for the acts he committed arrested, detained and eventually sent to Kuru as instructor by General (Azubuike) Ihejieruka."
Mohammed added: "It is on record that every soldier on the Liberia assignment was due to $1,000 per month.
"They got $600 per month.
"As the Army Director of Finance and Administration (ADAFA), he could not account for $400 per soldier per month.
"Rather, he sacrificed the career and put the family of the 27 soldiers on the line for his own selfish reasons.
"As at July 2011, he was said to have over N5 billion in his private account."
The 27 soldiers, in making known their grievance after returning from the tour of duty to Liberia in 2008, barricaded the busy Lagos-Ibadan-Abuja highway.
Chairman of the court martial, Brigadier-General Ishaya Bauka, said in sentencing the soldiers to life imprisonment: "From the evidence before us, the court has been convinced that they committed mutiny by protesting against the order of the commanding officer."
But their counsel, Femi Falana, appealed against the sentences.
Before then, the Army court had convicted four army officers and a soldier of stealing $68,541 from Nigerian troops returning from the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Liberia.
The court had ordered that the convicted officers be demoted after they were found guilty of diverting the funds meant for peacekeeping troops to another military unit.
The officers, including a deputy director of finance at army headquarters, paid the soldiers less than the $5,040 each approved by the United Nations, sparking the violent protest.
Those convicted were a serving Commanding Officer of the 72 Army Battalion, Markurdi, Colonel A.A. Awotoye; Lieutenant Colonel Paul Baba; Major A.K. Shonva; Major C.H. Chajoku; and Sergeant Yahaya Umar.
They were convicted for conspiracy and stealing, contrary to the Armed Forces Act.
Mohammed said that as the person at the helms of affairs in the Finance and Administration Department of the Nigerian Army at the time, Aiwiriavbere cannot claim not to know what went on in his department.
