DHL Dispatch: Still in transit since the 16th.

This came earlier than expected. I hope it gives someone some level of hope.

Obviously, for you to have that notion about the school, you already did your findings about assistantship and funding availability. So I got an admission to Claremont graduate University California for fall 2022 but it seems I will have to defer till 2023 or try another school. I wanted a full funding with stipend but I only got a fellowship award on my COA for about $10,000 and recently got another option to apply for $5,000 scholar award. The issue is the fees is still high(over $50k), I cannot afford it and I don't want to use loan. I messaged my GA but he said I cannot apply for assistantship until after my first semester.

Another alternative suggested by my friend is to come in and change my school to a much lesser one which I can afford. I don't know if anyone has some knowledge about this.

I would also like to request for links to schools that offer full funding and I don't mind waiting till 2023 to get this.

Please I would really appreciate any help from anyone here on how to resolve this. The Visa has still not been given to him and the bone of contention now is they are refusing to stamp the new passport. The embassy has been mailed several times but no response till now.

Hi,

When I applied to the school, I also indicated interest in their graduate assistant positions. So I sent a separate application for it.

Honestly, I applied in 2021, didn't get it but got a partial scholarship which only covered tuition costs, I rejected it and deferred to this year.

And I got it this year.

Just apply to where the money is in. Don't apply to school that don't offer funding or opportunities for Graduate Assistantships.

No he only did the capturing and all on the old one. Then he renewed the passport and attached the old and new together for submission to TLS for visa approval.

The response of the probability being shaky came from TLS. The guy said his renewing the passport means he cancelled the biometric he did on the old one as it means he has deactivated it. So he was told he needs to send a mail to the embassy stating why he changed the passport he used to apply.

I think he should have gotten the Visa before applying just as you said only if he got the right information.

Do you have any advise as to how we can get through this.

there is no such rule in Nigeria. He could have gotten his visa, then applied for renewal and then travel with 2 passports. The BRP is what will carry his full visa length and not passport. Even for individuals tht apply for 6 months visa with a 5 months visa they are still given the full length on their passport irrespective of validity dates on passport.
So he cancelled his biometrics or how? I dnt understand what you mean by the embassy is saying probability is shaky. I think is best you guys continue to liase with them as they are in the best position to help you and/or guide you. I’ve not heard where embassy will say probability of visa is shaky.. they dnt even comment such way. So pls explain what u mean by biometrics was cancelled. Who cancelled it? Please I need advice.
My brother renewed his passport after he has done his biometric and capturing. He applied with his wife and son(dependant) and they have been issued their visa. His passport would expire in June and because it does not cover for the duration of his stay in the UK he had to renew.
Now the issue is the embassy is saying he has cancelled the first biometric he did on the old passport and the probability of him getting the Visa is shaky right now. He also has a deadline to resume in the school by month end.
Is there anyone with experience of such and how we can handle this. He has also sent a mail to the embassy explaining why he renewed (also because of the rule in Nigeria of renewing a passport with 6months validity).

Please I need advice and guidance on how best this can be resolved

Firstly, congratulations on your admit.

Now, email the school’s international programs, and make the inquiries of getting your i20.

You can even play around the school’s website and get to see how to go about it there.

In short, on a very norm, they should have bombard you with emails after your admission, about what is next and which is next. But, while waiting for their email, do the above.
