Crime / Police Orders Use Of Identity For Ikorodu Residence by mztemmytope: 7:17pm On Jul 04, 2017
The Lagos state police command would like to inform members of the public especially residents in ikorodu and environs, that from henceforth everybody moving around that part of the state, residents, students or workers should always have on them a valid form of identification.

This has become important and necessary because of the series of police operations lined up in the area by the Lagos state police command led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations. The Lagos state police command is deeply concerned about the criminal activities in the area which is not only unlawful but also affecting the integrity of the state.

Crime / Efunsetan Aniwura And Other Evans Stories by mztemmytope: 9:15pm On Jun 24, 2017
“The first operation I went with the gang was at Uguruta Junction on the Port-Harcourt International Airport Road. We attacked some vehicles conveying a huge sum of money in foreign currency.

We killed all the policemen escorting them including a man the police identified as the Regional Manager of the bank where the money came from. After that operation, I was given N3 million as my share…” The person who made that statement was a man nicknamed White Witch, who had participated in 15 bank and bullion van robberies and made millions.

His ambition was to retire from robbery into politics. And he almost realised that ambition but for nemesis. He was arrested around this time last year shortly before his swearing in as a cabinet member by a state governor: “Two weeks before my arrest, I was shortlisted as a Special Adviser to the Governor, and we were waiting for him to return from his trip abroad so that he would swear us into our various offices. I did not know that the police had got to know about my activities.”

If he had not been bursted, one day, he probably would have become the governor of his state, appointing his gang members as commissioners.

I wonder how many White Witches and how many of the now very popular kidnap don, Evans, we willingly elect every four years into our lives.

Former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Politics / Let Nigerian Senate Cease To Exist … It Is Of Zero Consequences by mztemmytope: 10:04am On Jun 20, 2017
I was shocked to the marrows when I heard that some APC Senators asked the National Working Committee of the Party led by the National Chairman of the Party Chief Odigie Oyegun to prevail on President Buhari to drop all charges against Bukola Saraki at the Code of Conduct corruption trial before they stop sabotaging the presidency.

Words failed me when it dawned on me that this potentially dangerous demand is coming from some APC Senators who are supposed to be the agents of change we promised Nigerians while seeking their mandate in 2015.

I reflected on the event of the past 24years from 1993 when we elected Chief MKO Abiola to bring hope to Nigerians and how he was crushed and decimated by demonic and satanic forces after five years struggle to defend and sustain the mandate.

Time and space will not permit me to recall the quantum of energies expended to defend the mandate for five years, the wars, on the streets, the casualties including MKO Abiola and the late wife Kudirat Abiola, and many others, the damage to the national project, the devastation of our economy, the balkanization of the political entity called Nigeria, the alienation by the international community making Nigeria a pariah nation, and the ethnic division it visited on Nigeria.

Education / How NECO Corrupts School Children by mztemmytope: 7:27am On Jun 17, 2017

Dear Sir, Complaint and Observations on the Immoral Contents in Our Curricula We, the Parent-Teacher Association of Crescent College, Victoria Island, Lagos, are constrained to bring to your notice that we have observed that it has become the tradition of the National Examinations Council (NECO) to recommend junior secondary literature textbooks that fall short of moral standards that our nation’s educational system should be promoting. More specifically, the booksbook x z z xxxxsaid are nothing but a means of xxxq can cc acts of indecency z Qatar wa xas rape, violence, kidnapping, girl defilement and “sexualisation of knowledge. The books expose the vulnerable and unsuspecting minds of 10-12 year olds to amorous and deviant practices that can in turn breed rapists, cultists, homosexuals and kidnappers in youngsters.

The prevalence of cases of rape among secondary students in recent times cannot be unconnected with the urge to experiment with the experience they have from such books. For example, The Precious Child, by Queen O. Okweshine, gave a vivid description of a young lady’s body as follows: If only I can find a sweet 16 to cool me down. Politics / You Can’t Be A Nigerian And Still Be A Supporter Of Biafra’ – MUMUNI by mztemmytope: 10:16pm On Jun 15, 2017
A renowned security analyst, Ambassador Abayomi Nurain Mumuni has expressed concerns over what he called ‘uncoordinated utterances from many Nigerians’ regarding the eviction of the Igbos from Northern Nigeria.

Ambassador Mumuni also called on the South East elders (Ohaneze Ndigbo), including South East Governor’s Forum to be bold enough to come out openly to redress the IPOB’s agitation of Biafra Republic and declaration of cessation from Nigeria.

The author of “the two most read books globally on terrorism, Global Terrorism and its Effects on Humanity and Demand by Terror” described the developments as very disturbing and unpatriotic, calling on government at all levels to take proactive measures before it gets out of hands.

He similarly faulted the actions of the Arewa Youths Forum as well as the pan-Yoruba group who are also calling for Oduduwa Republic.

Foreign Affairs / Stop Fighting Over My Successor, mugabe Tells Allies by mztemmytope: 3:47pm On Jun 03, 2017
Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe called on Friday for unity in his ruling ZANU-PF party, which has been riven by infighting over who will eventually succeed the world’s oldest leader.

Mugabe, 93, has ruled the southern African nation since independence from Britain in 1980 and wants to seek another five-year term next year, his last under the constitution, despite concerns over his health.

The veteran leader, who looks increasingly frail, has made two trips this year to Singapore for medical checks, which his spokesman said were related to his eyes.

Private media have reported that Mugabe has prostate cancer, which officials deny. Addressing a ZANU-PF youth rally in Marondera town, some 70 kilometres (43 miles) east of the capital Harare, Mugabe said different party factions were preoccupied with plotting how to take over from him, saying some of the plots had assumed tribal overtones.

“That kills the party. Stop it, stop it. We do not want to start to fight each other before the time comes,” Mugabe said. “Be at peace, the time will come, it’s certainly coming. Congress will decide,” Mugabe said, referring to the five-year gathering of the party that chooses the ZANU-PF leader, due to take place in 2019 when Mugabe will be 95.

Some party officials have been privately lobbying for the meeting to be brought forward to December, allowing Mugabe’s successor to contest next year’s vote. Friday’s rally was meant to

Literature / Lagos: Not A “no Man’s Land!” by mztemmytope: 1:33pm On May 28, 2017
All protocols are duly observed.

Good day ladies and gentlemen. My name is Abideen Muhammed Ayomide. It gives me a great pleasure to stand in front of the world today to discuss the most controversial issue among the people of Lagos State.

I make bold to say that the notion is not only erroneous but misleading and I therefore stand to debunk the popular illusion that Lagos State is a no man’s land.

For decades, people have harboured different images and perception of Lagos and its aborigines (original owners), some of which are far from truth. The erroneous view that Lagos is no man’s land for instance, is either a demonstration of ignorance or a joke carried too far.

This expression in one part is by-product of the generosity, hospitality and level of social integration of the people of Lagos. The claim that Lagos is no man’s land is synonymous to the claim of the atheists that God does not exist and everything came into existence planlessly.

They insist that the sun, the stars, the rivers, et cetera came out of the blues with no single initiator, yet with perfect order. And if I may ask, how will you feel if someone argues that your phones, plates and shoes, all came into existence without the effort of anybody – no maker? If you can’t accept the above claims, will it not be repugnant to common sense to also claim that Lagos is a no man’s land? Undoubtedly, this assertion is not only bogus, it is preposterous!

Crime / Burundi Orders Unwed Couples To Marry Legally by mztemmytope: 8:09am On May 27, 2017
Unmarried couples have until the end of the year to legalise their relationships, Burundi government has said, as part of an effort to reform morals in the country.

The order follows the launch of a campaign this month by President Pierre Nkurunziza “to moralise society” where he urges Burundians to show their love for each other and their country by getting married.

The government has since been pressuring unwed couples across the country to tie the knot. Terence Ntahiraja, interior ministry spokesman, told the AFP news agency that Burundi was facing a population explosion, which he blamed on “illegal marriages”, polygamy, bigamy and “hundreds of schoolgirls getting pregnant.

He said church and state-sanctioned weddings were the solution and were a patriotic duty. Authorities in the southeastern province of Rutana have ordered that “persons living in common-law unions” should be put on a special list by 22 June, while officials in northwestern Bubanza province have demanded unspecified “sanctions” against aisle-dodgers.

Pierre, a 27-year-old farmer living with his partner in Ngozi, in Burundi’s north, said local officials had threatened him with a 50,000 Burundian franc ($29) fine and said any child born out of wedlock would not be eligible for free education and medical costs. Pierre said he had not married because he could not afford the bride price demanded by his girlfriend’s family. “She told me she was pregnant. As I am

Islam for Muslims / Ramadan: Between Moonsighting Controversies And Youth Zealousness by mztemmytope: 2:03pm On May 26, 2017
The recent pronouncement of the crescent of the month of Rajab, the seventh month of Islamic calendar, by the National Moon Sighting Committee (NMSC) triggered serious controversies, especially from among the Muslim youths.

The NMSC headed by Dr. Hafiz Wali is an organ of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) under the leadership of His eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto. By virtue of his position as the Amir-ul-Mu’mineen (Head of Nigeria’s Muslim community) the power to commence and terminate Ramadan fasting lies with the Sultan and by extension, the moon sighting committee.

This perhaps could have informed the reactions of some Muslim youths who stormed the NSCIA facebook page over what they regarded as “misinformation and miscalculation of the month of Rajab”.

They contended that contrary to the announcement by the moon sighting committee, Rajab did not start on Thursday, March 28 but Wednesday, March 27.

In addition to running contrary to many another global counting, keen observers claimed to have sighted the moon with their naked eyes! It is very important to note that concern raised by the youths is quite very germane as the disparity, if extended to the month of Sha’aban (the 8th month)  may have negative effects on the commencement of Ramadan fasting.

This was the fear of the embittered Muslim faithful who are beginning to express doubt about the professional competence of the committee and the accuracy of their counting.

Before now, the commencement and termination of Ramadan fast in Nigeria has always generated a lot of contentions and controversies. In 2008, some Muslims ignored the announcement of the Sultan to start their fasting on different days.

This led to the commencement of the fast in about three different days. The issue further generated heated debate when the Sultan declared that Muslims should observe Eid-el-Adha prayer on the Day of Arafah.

With the help of Allah and collective efforts of the Muslim community, the Muslims re-united for the 2009, 2010,  2011, 2012, 2013 Ramadan until 2014 when the leadership of NSCIA again erred by dishing out two directives – first, that Muslims should begin fast on Sunday, June 29, while the second, which came late, around 1 am ordered Muslims to begin fasting on Saturday, June 28.

The Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos (UNILAG),  Prof.  Rahamon, Bello has approved the lifting of the suspension imposed on activities of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) in the university.

The approval was contained in a statement issued by the Dean of students affairs, Prof. Ademola Adeleke on Tuesday.

“Plans to create the organ structures will be announced in due course,” the statement reads in part. The lifting of the ban came on the heels of the conference held on Tuesday in a bid to ratify the new bye-law of MSSN UNILAG branch. The much-anticipated conference started around 11.00 a.m at the Multi-Purpose Hall C.

The bye-law which had been reviewed on April 21st this year comprised 24 sections which included but not limited to the general provisions, the organisation of the branch, tenure of office, organs of the branch and electoral process.

In his welcome address, Adeleke had said the VC wanted the MSSN issue resolved before the commencement of this year’s Ramadan (fasting month). He said the objective of the conference was to end the “crises” and let peace reign in the society.

Crime / The Dilemma Of Nigerian Youths by mztemmytope: 11:59am On May 24, 2017
A situation where a graduate is collecting pocket money on monthly basis. When a grown up youth is sweeping gutter.

When a degree holder is fighting over a wrap of Amala at home. I don’t actually know how to describe this kind of ‘monumental mess.’ I doubt if there is any serious youth today outside the corridor of privileges who feels the present condition of youths is normal. The sad reality cut across lines. It is depressing. It is true. Nigerian youths are not smiling. It is no news in Nigeria the brutal fact that our army of youths are groaning and moaning.

They are stubbornly lamenting like the biblical Jeremiah with no end in sight. In fact, whooping number of them occupied – floor members of the federal republic – called ‘wailing wailers.’ The reason is not farfetched. They are simply unemployed and unproductive to themselves let alone their community. I have lamented so much about anything and everything around us and it seems there is no hope in time.

The problem I want to share today is interestingly unique. It is not the common tale I usually present. This subject matter affects all at different stages of progression and developments. I have reasoned at supersonic speed and I concluded that I should register my mental dissatisfactions to know if there is similar perception out there.

Actually, I want this piece to serve as a springboard with the aim of developing a workable rolling plan for our disillusioned youths. Nigeria is our dear beloved country.

It is sometimes called a land of possibilities by some thinkers. This is a country where our governments at various tiers are managing nothing but they are eating everything including our future.

Nothing thrives here except the business of corruption and connection. Politics is the surest road to instant success. Religion is the secret code to divide and rule. Everything in our planet is supernatural. Nothing is man made here.

Politics / Governor Aregbesola Calls For Probe Of Coup Allegation by mztemmytope: 8:51am On May 24, 2017
The Governor of Osun State in Southwest Nigeria, Rauf Aregbesola has called for the probe of an allegation that some politicians are putting pressure on the military to stage a coup.

He moved the motion as he performed his first legislative function after being honoured with Honourary Life Membership of the State House of Assembly in Osogbo.

The honour was given to mark the Governor’s 60th birthday. Aregbesola explained that the probe is to bringing any erring officers to book and urged the Assembly to pass a resolution to commend the Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Buratai, for his thorough professionalism and belief in the current democracy.

The Governor canvassed for a change in the mode of legislative representation based only on geographical space to more modern criteria like occupation and professional categories.

“I  have also made the strident call for a political system and practice that is best suited for our clime, which will bring inclusion to real political empowerment for all the people. “I have after our revered leaders, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Chief Bola Ige, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and others, all convinced federalist, argued that for a plural society like ours, true federal practice is a minimum condition of statehood.

“We are so diverse as a people that anything short of true federalism is an invitation to chaos.” He stressed. In the same vein, the Guest Speaker and Leader House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila in a lecture titled: “Suitability of Presidential System in a Multi-Ethnic Democracy”, called for restructuring of Nigeria’s federal system to aid proper development.

Federal Government on Tuesday declared that the Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMAN) is held in prison but kept by the government “in public interest.

The Presidency made the clarification in response to questions on human rights records of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration in Abuja. A combined team of the presidential media aides comprising Mr Femi Adesina, Garba Shehu and Laolu Akande addressed the State House correspondents on the achievements of the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government at a midterm media chat.

Shehu, who spoke said the `detention’ of the Shi’ite leader was also in his own interest, adding government was trying to ensure his safety and those of other Nigerian citizens.

It will be recalled that Justice Gabriel Kolawola of an Abuja Federal High Court, in December 2016, ordered the Department of State Services (DSS) to release El-Zakzaky within 45 days.

Celebrities / James Bond Star Roger Moore Dies At 89 by mztemmytope: 5:39pm On May 23, 2017
Former James Bond star, Roger Moore has died after a battle with cancer, his family confirmed Tuesday. He was 89.
Moore, who epitomised James Bond in seven films from 1973 to 1985, died in Switzerland “after a short but brave” cancer fight, according to a statement released by his three children.

“The love with which he was surrounded in his final days was so great it cannot be quantified in words alone,” said Moore’s kids, Deborah, Geoffrey and Christian.

“Thank you, Pops for being you and for being so very special to so many people.” The blue-eyed London-born actor was approached to play Bond but his schedule filming TV shows never allowed him to commit. It was only when Sean Connery stepped down that Moore agreed to take on the role of 007, filming his first Bond movie “Live and Let Die” in 1973 and “The Spy Who Loved Me” four years later.

He retired from the iconic role in 1985 as the longest-running actor to play the British secret service agent. “Being eternally known as Bond has no downside. People often call me Mr Bond when we’re out and I don’t mind a bit. Why would I?” Moore told The Guardian in 2014.

Religion / Ramadan: Cleric Tasks Faithful To Strengthen Relationship With Allah by mztemmytope: 3:18pm On May 23, 2017
A notable Muslim cleric in the South-Western state of Osun has urged Muslims to renew their connection with Allah, even as the sacred month of Ramadan approaches.

Alhaji Abdul Ganiyy Shittu, the Chief Imam of Salaudeen Oladejo Mosque in Osogbo, the state capital gave the charge during a sermon titled, “Ramadan and its benefits”.

He implored Muslims to make both spiritual and physical preparations toward Ramadan with a view to taking the full advantage of the holy period to amend their relationship and connection with the Most High. “Ramadan is a period of multiple blessings as the holy Qur’an was revealed in it.

During the period, the gates of Hell shall be closed and the gates of Paradise shall be opened. “Allah the Most High said every deed of a man is for him, except fasting which Allah himself shall reward,” he said.

Foreign Affairs / Gambia Accuses Former President Jammeh Of Stealing $50m by mztemmytope: 6:36am On May 23, 2017
The Gambia’s former ruler Yahya Jammeh stole at least $50m from the state, the country’s justice minister said on Monday, in the first major anti-corruption move by the country’s new president.

It’s the first time the new government of the west African country has put a figure on the amount it believes Jammeh plundered from state coffers before leaving for exile in Equatorial Guinea in January after 22 years in power.

“President Yahya Jammeh personally or under his instructions directed the unlawful withdrawal of at least $50 million,” Justice Minister Abubacarr Tambadou said, describing withdrawals from The Gambia’s central bank and linked with state-owned Gamtel between 2013 and 2017.

“We have today obtained a court order freezing or placing a temporary hold on the known assets in the country of former President Yahya Jammeh and companies directly associated with him,” Tambadou added. The court order concerns 88 bank accounts in Jammeh’s name or those of his associates, Tambadou told journalists, along with 14 companies linked with the former strongman.

Jammeh ran everything from bakeries to farms during his tenure and was regularly accused of taking over successful businesses for his own gain. Monday’s order was designed to prevent Jammeh “liquidating or dissipating assets,” the minister added, confirming the order applied only to the former leader’s assets in The Gambia.

This is for men, It may be useful for you too….. Have youever listened to any Master of ceremony crack their usual jokes at wedding receptions?

It goes thus:..  “who should pay bills or take care of the children? Who is to pay school fees of children? Who should toil to provide for the home? The whole audience shouts…. “Daddy!”. Who should the child buy a car for after graduation? The women answer loudly… “mother!!!” Who should be invited to America if a child is rich and works abroad? … “Mother of course”, roared the women in the audience. Who should die first among the parents? “Daddy!”… all the women in the hall screamed…. Truly, such is the fate of an African man…. Are we not born losers? When a lady is single and has four problems and her fiancee has six problems, immediately they get married, the man’s problems become automatically ten (10) as the man immediately starts to carry the family problems….
