The primary reason why most Northerners have and will continue to ignore these chest beaters is exactly what this write up is all about, which is LIES, the op purposely jumped the aspect of the write up that was to talk about the happenings of the first coup in our beloved country Nigeria, The IGBO soldiers killed the Northern and south Western leaders but failed to kill the south eastern leaders and stupidly, irritating, disgustingly referred to the coup as a Nigerian coup, No it was an IGBO coup.
Of course he also failed to explain the reaction of the Igbos afterwards, they celebrated the actions of those soldiers which triggered the crises afterwards and the counter coup as well. Not also mentioning the actions of the late Aguiri Ironsi, who destroyed the foundations Nigeria was laid upon.

As a Northerner growing up in a predominantly southern environment I may not agree to your assessment, the best footballers in this country DONT PLAY FOOTBALL, Yes, because football is a game that has so much passion in it, Nigerian football has lost that today because every Tom dick and Harry wants to play, and no one is better at being desperate like the Igbo's, yes we may call it being enterprising etc, but the problem I have noticed in that is how they collectively frustrate others while u r in their mist, I have trained to many times with teams on the street because of my love for the game and I can sense the disdain from the Igbo group, always trying to down your spirit, even when u r Far far better than them.
Don't get me wrong we've had outstanding players from them, but just as the Late Sardauna said "they will do anything to dominate you, even in areas u r better than them", I have seen players better than mikel obi right from his Pepsi academy days, and this is all over the country, but because other tribes have other qualities instilled in them from childhood, they tend to allow this things go.

It is true we are not as much as the southerners on NL, but that does not in any way mean we are not committed to the Nigerian project, it baffles me how most people think speaking and writing English is the same as been enlightened, an average Northerner is well enlightened even if he doesn't know how to speak English, maybe yes those are areas we can correct and improve on, but it cuts across the Nation, you have illiterate people from all over the country. I believe certain historical circumstances that was initially an advantage to us became a disadvantage later on. Yes peolpe don't always celebrate their birthdays on their true dates but they never pick specific dates or change their dob, they may celebrate on 25 Dec this year but may do so jan 1 next year but their true dob remains.
