Care Of baby Goat (kid) after parturition (giving birth)



After birth, thoroughly clean the mucus away from the nose, mouth, and throat. Weigh the kid, tag the ear, and dip the navel cord in 7-percent iodine to prevent navel joint disease. 



Make sure each kid receives its mother’s first milk (colostrum) within the first 24 hours after birth (within the first one to four hours is best). The first milk is rich in antibodies that helps the kid fight diseases. 





The sooner the kid nurses, the more antibodies the animal can absorb. After 24 hours, the kid’s ability to absorb antibodies from the colostrum is minimal, and shortly after that, none can be absorbed.

It is a common practice to see farmers raise large size broilers for the market.




While some assert that they cannot consume soft meat, others have their eyes on big returns adjudging that large birds attract better bargains.





From experience garnered on the field, and in the market, it is most preferred to raise table-sized broilers that do not exceed 7weeks.




1. The market may not always offer a commensurate price for your large and tough birds. It takes a much higher cost to produce broilers that are quite big and with tough muscles.

I blame the market,  I blame the marketers and I blame the consumers.  They are the ones pushing the farmers to look for something to make the egg bigger.

7 CAUSES OF WATERY feces IN POULTRY


On a general note poultry does not pass out hard faeces like rabbits and other animals. But then at some point the critical semi-solid greyish faeces may change completely. Watery stool may become the case. When the birds poo leave it's normal to somewhat watery and this may be in some sort of colors to indicate other ailments. But when no visible brown, green or white color is shown then the watery stool could result from:



1) feeding excess protein to the birds: in my other teachings I showed you how protein could be a problem when in excess.



When protein is beyond the body allowance, deamination will cause the birds to consume more water than the body volume. Hence they will pass out watery stool continually.

Choosing The Best Broiler Species For your Poultry Business



If you’re a poultry farmer, understanding the specie of birds is the best way to avoid most of the problems with stunted growth, Newcastle infection, height and weight challenges and general carcass quality.
I’ve heard from farmers countless times that their broilers don’t do very well as the other stocks they raised. It is possible too that they are from the same hatchery but what happens why they don’t grow at the same rate



First, note that unless you are getting your chicks directly from the hatchery, they can be compromised. Forget the carton, delivery agents or suppliers can change your chicks for other chicks.
