gbosaa: Essien is still a force to reckon with..Premier league where you play about 38 matches is different from world cup.Dont judge him by his performance in the league.
He is a totally different player in black stars shirt and yes i would pick him ahead of Mikel.no disrespect to Mikel but essien to me would do a better job.
Thats why u can never be a coach. They both play for d same club and mikel gets chosen to play while essien sleeps on d bench.
That is enough reason for mikel to be ahead of essien in d african team.

Currently,Club performance mikel clearly outshines essien.

National team performance mikel has outshined essien.

What more would u need to judge/compare both CURRENTLY ??

safarigirl: I don't think Pitroipa can bench Emenike, I think he's over-rated, still prefer Traore
It has to do with d formation i chose. My 4-2-3-1 requires two out and out wingers. In my 23-man list, there are only 3 of those(moses, pitroipa and salah),so i chose moses and pitroipa.Emenike is a no.9 and isn't a winger.I would have put emenike up front instead of aubameyang, but e go be like say i pack nigerian players too much.
SportsRe: ONE AFRICA !!! (which African team will emerge from the prelims? by naijanoni(m):
Goal-keepers:-Enyeama,Khune,Itandje

Defenders :- Omeruo,Kolo Toure,Assou ekotto,Kwadwo Asamoah,Didier Zakora,Efe Ambrose,Emmanuel eboue

Midfielders :-Mikel,Muntari,Andre Ayew,Yaya toure,Tiote,Alex Song

Forwards(wingers inclusive):-Gyan,Emenike,Aubameyang,Drogba,Pitroipa,Salah,Victor Moses

Starting XI:-4231

----------------Enyeama---------------

Ekotto-Omeruo-Kolo toure-Asamoah

----------Mikel------A.Song-----------

Moses------YayaToure------Pitroipa

-------------Aubameyang------------

I'll rather have quality than old/tired legs in d name of "experience".

In my starting XI there are 4 nigerians. That is not in any way bias.Currently those XI are d best to rep africa.Nigeria had the highest no of players on the BBC award shortlist.
Nigeria also had d highest no. Of players on the CAF award shortlist.

Those who picked the nigerians arent nigerians. The shortlists for both awards were compiled based on opinions of the best soccer analysts/pundits 4rm the whole of africa.
So africa generally thinks nigeria have d best players.
So that there are 4 nigerians on my XI is reasonable and not BIAS.

I dont know about others but ask 50 african sports analyst 4rm 50 african countries to name their African XI,,30 out of d 50 would include the trio of enyeama, mikel and moses in their list.#FACT.
SportsRe: ONE AFRICA !!! (which African team will emerge from the prelims? by naijanoni(m): 10:54pm On Dec 01, 2013
Very biased. So dauda is now better than Khune ??.
Khune is d 2nd best goalkeeper in africa after Enyeama.Dauda isnt even among d best 5.

bin gbagbo: grin grin grin where does omeruo play currently and how experienced is he? remember the world is a congregation of the bests in the world(ronaldo, ribery, messi, robben, rooney etc) can omeruo stand his own against these big names? i have my doubts

:
Omeruo plays for chelsea. He is among the 4 players that were re-called by mourinho from their loan spells last summer(Omeruo,de bruyne, lukaku, kalas). He is yet to feature this season for chelsea though. He just recovered few weeks ago 4rm a shoulder injury he got during d confederations cup.He has been training with d chelsea first team though.
Omeruo has stood his own against the likes of cavani, suarez, drogba and many others. He is only 20yrs and is been tipped to be the successor of john terry at chelsea.
SportsRe: ONE AFRICA !!! (which African team will emerge from the prelims? by naijanoni(m): 10:35pm On Dec 01, 2013
Micheal essien is already a finished player. He shouldnt be in any starting XI.If it was 4yrs ago,he should be d 1st name on dat list, but not now dat he is a reserve player at chelsea.
And how is salah more experienced than emenike or moses ??.
SportsRe: ONE AFRICA !!! (which African team will emerge from the prelims? by naijanoni(m): 10:31pm On Dec 01, 2013
@OP What is boateng doing in ur XI ?.Victor moses should replace boateng. He is arguably d best natural winger we have in africa now.
SportsRe: Does Osaze Odemwingie Deserve A Call-up? by naijanoni(m): 10:23pm On Dec 01, 2013
Abeg my girl @safarigirl carry on joor !!.As a girl u even sabi football pass some of all these guys wey no sabi anything. Those saying we badly need osaze, when last did they watch him ??.Prolly 2 or 3 years ago.Osaze has been poor for cardiff this season. He has really lost it.I advice y'all should start watching him.Due to his poor performances,he has now lost his place in cardiff's 1st XI.I'll rather take iheanacho or yahaya to d worldcup than osaze.
SportsRe: Nigeria Drop To 36th In Latest Fifa Ranking by naijanoni(m): 8:07am On Nov 29, 2013
Guys i was blaming FIFA for cheating before, but i went to their site to read how the ranking points are calculated.I discovered that the ranking points are given based on the average of the total points gained in a four year period(Nov.2009-Nov.2013).
So i guess it is poor results from past years(mainly 2010 and 2011) that is keeping us down.Even if we had beaten italy,we would have moved up only a little(maybe 1 step) or remained in the same position we were.
If the ranking was based on points gained ONLY this year nigeria would be like 21st in d world.
