Nollywood actress Anita Joseph Olagunju has weighed in on the high rate of single ladies in Nigerian and why they are not married.

In a video shared on her Instagram page, the actress disclosed that many single ladies have refused to lower their standard to marry a man living on average.

According to the curvy actress, many girls give specific criteria before accepting a man for marriage, including financial stability, broad shoulder, and tallness.

Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu has warned popular Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Igboho and others agitating for a sovereign Yoruba State to stay away from the state.

Akeredolu expressed that Ondo people have elected to stay in the Federal Republic of Nigeria as constituted at present.

Akeredolu made this known while swearing-in Princess Catherine Oladunni Odu as the new Secretary to the State Government and other Special Advisers on Monday.

He stated that the state would not subscribe to banditry and recklessness in putting forth its demands.

He said no part of the entire state, known and delineated as Ondo State, would permit any gathering or agitation which may suggest, however remotely, that the people are in support of what he termed ‘unthinking rabble-rousing.’

He stated that the right of citizens to discuss, agitate and even fight to right perceived wrongs, culminating in self-determination, must be done within known and acceptable parameters.

He also expressed that all concerned must agree to pursue the same objectives to achieve a desirable or desired end.

He noted that the reasons for the declaration of hostilities must not be fleeting fancies of disaffection engendered by perceived politics of exclusion for personal benefits.

The attacks on six villages by bandits have left scores of villagers killed in Zamfara State, the government said on Friday.

Mr Jamilu Magaji, who is the press secretary to the state governor, confirmed in a statement that the attacks were carried out in two Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.

Villages, where scores of people were killed by the bandits, included Damaga, Jihiya, Shandame, Gidan Runji and Daki Hudu all in Maradun LGA, while the sixth village that came under attack was Kizara in Tsafe LGA.

Magaji explained that the state governor, Bello Matawalle, had to cancel his official engagements in Sokoto State because of the attacks.

According to him, the governor immediately returned to Zamfara to sympathise with the victims of the attacks in Maradun and Tsafe LGAs.

Governor Matawalle also appealed to Islamic scholars in all parts of the state to intensify prayers for the return of peace and harmony in the state.

A Lagos State High Court has barred Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, the daughter of All Progressives Congress leader, Bola Tinubu, from imposing levies on traders at the Computer Village, Lagos

The development comes over a year after Tinubu-Ojo, who is also the Iyaloja-General of Lagos State reportedly imposed leaders on the traders who then introduced new levies, a development which sparked a series of protests at the Computer Village.

Others who were similarly barred from imposing levies include: Mrs. Bisola Azeez, Mr. Adeniyi Olasoji, Nofiu Akinsanya, Tony Ikani and the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State.

The order is sequel to a fundamental human rights suit marked ID/9039MFHR/19 instituted against the five respondents by the five major stakeholders that represent the traders at the Computer Village.

The judgment, which was delivered by Justice Yetunde Pinheiro read in part,

“I FIND THAT THE 2ND AND 3RD RESPONDENTS’ IMPOSITION OF LEVIES ON THE APPLICANTS IS ILLEGAL, NULL AND VOID AND THEREFORE AMOUNTS TO A VIOLATION OF THEIR FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS.

“ACCORDINGLY, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED AS THUS: THE FIRST TO FIFTH RESPONDENTS BY THEMSELVES, AGENTS, LEVY COLLECTORS HOWSOEVER CALLED ARE RESTRAINED FROM IMPOSING LEVIES AND/OR FINES ON THE MEMBERS OF THE 1ST TO 5TH APPLICANTS AT THE IKEJA COMPUTER VILLAGE IN THE IKEJA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF LAGOS STATE.”

In a letter titled,

‘DEAR MEMBERS, OUR COURT VICTORY AGAINST IYALOJA AND BABALOJA AND OTHERS IN COMPUTER VILLAGE, IKEJA’, THE LEADERSHIP OF THE COMPUTER VILLAGE REJOICED OVER THE JUDGMENT.

In the letter signed by its Chairman and Secretary-General, Timi Famoroti and Jerry Mba respectively, members were asked not to pay tax to Tinubu’s daughter or her representatives.

Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva, has noted that the All Progressives Congress is experiencing challenges but despite the issues, the party has the best chance of winning the 2023 presidential elections.

He said, “I don’t see any party in Nigeria today that is stronger than APC.”

Sylva made this known during an interview on Channels TV.

He said,

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has taken a swipe at President Muhammadu Buhari, for his lethargy and failure to call armed Fulani herdsmen terrorising Nigerians to order.

He stated that Buhari is the President of Nigeria not the President of the Fulani tribe where he hails from.

Ortom urged President Buhari to serve the interest of all Nigerians, reminding the President of his pledge to be the President of everybody and nobody in 2015.

Ortom made this known at a press conference in Makurdi on Wednesday after his recovery from COVID-19.

Heurged the President to act fast, adding that no Nigerian is a second class citizen or slave to the Fulani people.

Ortom also lambasted the Presidency for calling for the arrest of popular Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Igboho, over his quit notice to herdsmen accused of abductions, rape, destruction of farms, and others in the Ibarapa area of Oyo.

He accused the Presidency of being silent when herdsmen kill and maim Nigerians but swift to order the arrest of persons who resisted the criminal activities of the killer herdsmen.

Jeff Bezos is stepping down as the CEO of Amazon, 27 years after founding it with his ex-wife and building it into one of the most successful companies of all time that is now worth $1.7trillion.

Bezos, 57, will be replaced by Andy Jassy, the current CEO of Amazon Web Services, and he will move to the role of Executive Chair where he says he wants to focus on 'new products and initiatives'.

The move will not happen until the third quarter of this year.




Bezos announced the change in an email to staff on Tuesday afternoon.

The judge presiding over the virtual hearing branded lawyer Hector Paredes Robles a disgrace for his X-rated public performance in central Peru on Tuesday.
