According to eye witness, a madman stabbed a lady at the front of Oruokpota hall at Ringroad Benin City. He was seating on the walkway asking the lady and a guy talking to leave there and they didn't listen to him. He attacked them with a knife he brought out from his waist.

A mini coffin suspected to contain fetish materials was found with a 38-year-old suspected internet fraudster, Azeez Adebowale, when operatives of EFCC raided his house in Ibadan on Monday, March 2, 2020.

Adebowale, who claimed to be using the coffin as soap rack, was among the six persons arrested following weeks of piecing together tips on intelligence received on their alleged involvement in internet fraud.

The suspects which included a lady, Toyinsola Bolumole, were picked up by men of the Commission’s Ibadan zonal office at locations around Oluyole and Alao-Akala Estates of the ancient city.

Others are Ifelowo Ololade, Sonuyi Ayodeji, Folarin Oladele Olayinka and Aluko Olawale.

Items recovered from them include four cars, various brands of sophisticated phones and an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card.

Operatives of the Kaduna Zonal Office of the EFCC have arrested one Obi Sobenna Jude and Robert Sunday Olaoluwa, for defrauding unsuspecting members of the public through job scam, by posing as foreigners working for American companies on the internet.

The intelligence report was received and acted on by the Intelligence and Special Operations Section, ISOS, of the Kaduna zone.

Upon receipt of the intel, operatives swung into action and stormed the residence of the suspects on February 29, 2020, at New GRA, Bayan Gida Yerima Gyade, Bauchi State where they were arrested.

At least, five members of staff of Okomu Oil Plc, in Edo State have died in a fatal road accident.

It was gathered that the tragic incident took place on Friday evening and that the victims were burnt beyond recognition.

The accident occurred along Benin/Iguobazuwa road, in Ovia South-West local government area of the State.

Information gathered revealed that the incident happened when the bus conveying the victims from Extension 2 farm of the firm to the head office of the company at Okomu community, rammed into a lorry that crossed the road.

Two others were said to have sustained serious injuries in the ghastly accident and are said to be currently receiving treatment.

According to an eyewitness, Max Iyase, they could not render assistance to the victims, as the flame was ferocious. He identified one of the victims as Elvis Odia, a married father of two.

"Yesterday experience on the road was so horrific as I drove into the scene of the accident along Benin Iguobazuwa road which had many people burning inside the vehicles. I met a crowd of commuters pulling over a distance from the spot of the burning vehicles by Iguomo village, before Ovia river. My wife and I quickly ran to join others trying to rescue victims from the vehicles, but it was too late. The flame was so ferocious that no one dared to go closer. I supported in salvaging one SUV from being consumed after the owner jumped out and escaped to save his life. We succeeded in removing the car and putting out the fire that had barely just burnt part of it.

People burnt beyond recognition inside the bus while some were burnt laying dead on the ground.

I never knew who the people were until I got home later in the day and received a call that some of them were our relatives and some friends travelling down from Benin to Okomu. I could not believe my ears until so many people came and confirmed the story.

The accident had resulted from two vehicle on head collision. There was a bush fire burning blazingly on both sides of the road. The smoke was thick and another timber lorry(agbegi) was in front of the tipper lorry yet with heavy smoke bluring the visibility. As the tipper lorry tried to move away from near the bush side to the centre of the road because of the fire, the oncoming bus conveying the passengers was also fogged by the heaving emission of the timber lorry. They then had a head on collision and fire sparked and picked up instantly, killing all occupant except one.

Meanwhile, an official of the company who confirmed the death of their staff, described the incident as sad day for workers in the company.

“We are yet to confirm the number of our personnel involved but we have confirmed five. Two are in the hospital,” he said.

Fear of Boko Haram attack has made women and children flee their village and take to lodging in the open in Maiduguri.

People from over 300 households in Kayamla, in the Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, said they had to flee into Maiduguri when the villages around them were attacked and they felt they might be raided by Boko Haram.

Speaking to our correspondent on Monday morning, the women said their husband sent them into Maiduguri to seek refuge while they stay back in Kayamla.

One of the women, Yagana Mele, on the street beside the NYSC orientation camp in Maiduguri which has been converted to IDPs camp, said, “We have been staying here for about two weeks now, we have no choice but to sleep on the street since we were turned back from the camps.”

She narrated that they decided to flee into Maiduguri when it was becoming apparent that their village might be attacked as others around them had been attacked.

The people had, however, been taken off the streets to the Stadium IDPs camp by the Borno State Emergency Management Agency on Monday afternoon.

The Chairperson of BOSEMA, Hajiya Yabawa Kolo, said as soon as the state government got to know of their predicaments it arranged accommodation for them at the Stadium IDPs camp.

She revealed that they were about 300 households and numbered over 1,000.

Suspected bandits have brutally killed a police inspector in Niger state leaving his family members in a state of pain.

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have allegedly shot dead a police inspector identified as Ibrahim Mitra at Bangi, in Mariga Local Government Area of Niger state.

The sad news was made public by his friend, Mustapha Ibrahim who revealed that the incident happened on Sunday, February 16.

The deceased, according to him, was recently deployed to the area.

He described late Mitra as "one Fine Police Officer. Very professional, articulate unbiased and intelligent" in a Facebook post.

Yesterday Sunday, 16, February 2020 is one day too I will hardly forget in my life. A phone call came in, I picked and the next thing I heard was Inspector Ibrahim Mitra is shot dead by bandits at Bangi. I almost drop my phone in shock.

Mitra is one Finest Police Officer that I have come very close to. Very professional, articulate unbiased and intelligent.

Last week, when we spoke he told me that he was redeployed to that Bandits infested area of Bangi, all I do was to prayed to God to protect him.

Then yesterday's news. I felt highly devastated. I felt cheated. I felt abandoned. For those of us who live in Minna and knew how he was controlling the criminals within the Tundun Wada Area will know of his professionalism

May the soul of Inspector Ibrahim Mitra rest in peace.

A Nigerian man took to Facebook to cry out for help after allegedly being "kidnapped and robbed" of N125k by some police officers.

Satanic malam rapes 3 daughters of couple who housed him free for 7 years

A Lagos woman on Tuesday stunned an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court that her three daughters, aged 12, nine and seven were serially defiled by a muslim cleric, the family housed free for between seven and eight years

The victim’s mother made the revelation while testifying as the second prosecution witness in the trial of Ibrahim Idris, a 26-year-old cleric, charged with defilement.

The mother of six, who is also married to a cleric while being led in evidence by the state counsel, Mr Gbenga Alagbe, told the court that she knew about the alleged defilement from a teacher in the school her daughters were attending.

“In 2017, I received a call from the teacher of the school my children go to for lessons. The teacher told me that one of my daughters told her something and that she wanted me to hear for myself what she said.

“When we got to the office at the school, my oldest daughter (Daughter A) said that Idris slept with her and her younger sisters.

“I was told by the teacher that earlier while Daughter “A”was being interrogated about the allegations, she ran out of the class.

“A woman had seen her and had taken her back into the school and when she saw a male teacher she was scared because Idris was sleeping with her and anytime she sees a male teacher, she becomes withdrawn and scared ,” the mother said.

The mother said following the revelation, she took her children home from the school and her husband who was not around during that period, arrived two days later on Aug. 11, 2017.

She noted that when the father arrived, the defendant was summoned to their residence.

“We asked him about the allegations and he insisted nothing happened. We took him to the police station for questioning and we were referred to the Mirabel Center at Ikeja for medical examinations.

“I had asked Daughter B (9-years-old) about the allegations and she said it was true, I had asked Daughter A (12-years-old) about the allegations but she was afraid to tell me what happened.

“However, when we got to the police station, Daughter A told me what had happened,” the mother said.

While being cross-examined by the defence counsel, Mr Lekan Ijelu, the woman said the defendant was living with her family when he allegedly committed the crimes.

She noted that he had stopped residing with her family when the allegations came to light.

“He lived with us for seven or eight years. When he was living with us permanently, he used to go for his Islamic classes in the morning around 8am and return around 5pm.

“When he was temporarily residing with us, he used to stay on Fridays till Sundays,” she said.

The mother told the court that there were six adult males including the defendant who had lived in her home with her husband who is also a cleric.

She said she was shocked when she heard the allegations.

“He is a gentle boy. He says the truth all the time and when I’am going out, I leave my kids with him to take care of them for me, I trusted him so much, I was shocked to hear what he did to my daughters,” she said.

Following her evidence, the state prosecutor appealed to the presiding judge to address the woman to ensure that the mother brings her three daughters to court to testify against Ibrahim.

“My lord, the witness said that she did not want to bring her daughters to testify, because she feels it may be traumatic for them,” Alagbe said.

Responding, Justice Sybil Nwaka told the woman that preventing her children from coming to court will amount to the offence of obstruction of justice.

“The children are the victims. They must come to court to testify. This case is not your case, it is the case of the Lagos State Government.

“You reported the case, the children must come to court to testify. That is the process and procedure, if not you will be regarded as a hostile witness and that is an offence,” Justice Nwaka said.

The woman responded: “My lord, I feel it has been a long time. I do not want them to be reminded of what happened.”

Justice Nwaka adjourned the case until March 4 for continuation of trial.

Earlier during proceedings, a medical doctor and first prosecution witness, Dr Oyedeji Alagbe, of the Mirabel Center (a sexual assault referral centre) had interpreted the finding of his medical examinations on the minors.

Alagbe confirmed to the court that medical examination revealed that the three daughters were defiled.

According to the prosecution, Ibrahim committed the offences sometime in 2017 at the complainants home at Agege, Lagos.

“The defendant, Idris, a cleric on various occasions defiled the sisters aged 12, nine and seven-years-old in their home.

“The offence contravenes Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos 2015 which prescribes a life sentence for anyone found guilty of the offence of defilement,” Alagbe said
