A man, identified as Chris Ndukwe, stabbed his fiancée and mother of his two children, Olamide Omajuwa Alli, to death, before committing suicide on Sunday, June 21, 2020, at his resident in Victory Point Estate, Ilasan, Lagos State.

Chris, 39, and 25-year-old Olamide, who was the founder of Pearl Academy Nigeria, dated on and off for seven years and were said to have fixed their wedding for August, 2020, before the incident.

According to the Lagos Police Spokesperson, Bala Elkana, the woman was found with deep cuts on her head while the man's mouth was foaming with a whitish substance.


It is alleged that Chris stabbed Olamide to death with kitchen knife and thereafter drank some poisonous substance. Two blood stained kitchen knives, two empty bottles of the poison, three empty cans of energy drink and a pair of pliers were recovered from the scene.

According to some family members, the couple had two boys, aged 7 and 3. Chris lived in Victory Point Estate Ilasan, while Olamide lived in Ogba.

She is said to have visited him alongside her younger sister on Saturday, based on his invitation. The sister was the first to have noticed that the couple were dead and raised alarm.

In her statement, she said she was woken up by a loud music from their room. It was gathered that Chris tied Olamide up, sealed her mouth, used the pliers to pull her braids before stabbing her multiple times on the head and eyes.

Although the real cause of the incident has not been established, but there are speculations that it had to do with the paternity of one of their children.

The Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league resumed on Saturday (June 20) behind closed doors after a five-month hiatus caused by the coronavirus pandemic, just as the country battles a new cluster of infections in Beijing.

There was a sombre moment of silence at the arena in the north-eastern city of Qingdao as the CBA became the first major sports league to restart in China, where the deadly virus emerged late last year before spreading worldwide.

The league has been split into two groups as part of measures to ensure player safety - one group playing games in Qingdao and the other in the southern city of Dongguan.

All games will be played without fans, in line with sports around the world trying to reboot the action even as the virus continues to infect and kill thousands.

The first match of the restart was between Nanjing Monkey Kings and Zhejiang Guangsha Lions.

Before the game, players from both teams stood with their heads bowed for a period of silence in remembrance of those who died in recent months of the disease.

Match officials on the sidelines and a smattering of others allowed into the arena wore face masks, while an electronic screen showed fans watching remotely.

When the CBA was brought to a halt on Feb 1, at the height of the coronavirus outbreak in China, defending champions Guangdong Southern Tigers topped the standings after 30 matches.

More than half of the 20 teams in the CBA will compete without foreign players because most overseas visitors cannot enter China because of coronavirus travel restrictions.

China has seen a marked decline in the number of infections, but is now concerned about a recent surge in Beijing.

A tragic incident occurred in Greater Noida on Monday June 15, as a Nigerian man suspected to be "mentally unstable" allegedly killed his infant daughter and then threw her body from the second-floor of his apartment.

An eyewitness who sent in the blogger, said the incident occurred during a fight the man had with his wife.

A senior police officer said the couple, Ozioma Declan and Julie were staying with their three-month-old daughter in Imperia society under Ecotech 3 Police Station limits.

Deputy commissioner of police, central Noida, Harish Chander said;

“The information was received at the local police station in the morning about a fight between the Nigerian couple. A police team immediately reached the spot where the wife narrated the whole incident.

“She told the police that her husband was mentally troubled and doing weird things. She said he physically fought with her and smashed their daughter on the floor of the house, , killing her on the spot. He then threw the body out from the balcony."

The Nigerian man has been taken into custody and it was further learnt that a local representative of Nigeria has been called to discuss the issue. Legal proceedings will be carried out after the case is properly registered.

A man has allegedly beaten his wife to a coma and boasted that he will continue the beating when she regains consciousness.

The man, identified as Egwu Francis Emmanuel, allegedly beat Mrs Ezinne in Amachara Village, Ebonyi State, till she became unconscious.

An eye witness claims the man is in the habit of beating his wife but no one is willing to report him to the police because he is feared in the village.

The eye witness said: "This incidence is a repeated occurrence in the neighborhood. Even the wife is afraid to run away from the marriage as she is afraid of what may be her fate. As I’m talking to you now, she is lying in coma in Medical Center Afikpo.

"And the husband is still bragging outside of the hospital to pounce on her immediately she regains consciousness. If I see who can have the courage to report this young man to the police, then I would be most grateful.

"He does all these because his immediate elder brother is a Barrister and he brags that nothing can happen to him. So, I am appealing to well meaning Nigerians, especially organizations who fight domestic violence, to come to her rescue.”

The couple got married on December 24, 2015, and they have two children.

A 60-year-old man, Oghenekaro Isiakpere, has been rescued from his abductors in Delta State.

The victim was kidnapped by three gunmen while inside his Toyota Camry car at the site of his new building at Okomo Grace Close, Aladja Community in Udu Local Government Area, Vanguard reports.

However, a police patrol team, supported by the local vigilante, pursued the gunmen.

During the chase, the car of the suspected kidnappers crashed into a pavement on the road, forcing two members of the gang to flee on foot, leaving behind their gang member, Ogaga Iyeye, who was apprehended.

The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa confirmed the incident. He told the publication that the Police also recovered one cut to size gun, one live and one expended cartridge and the victim’s Phone from the suspect.

CP Inuwa said, “The victim was also successfully rescued unhurt, his vehicle recovered and taken to the station while investigation and efforts to track down the fleeing suspects are ongoing.”

At least 70 persons have been confirmed dead and many others injured after gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists attacked Faduma Koloram under Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State on Tuesday.

A security source told reporters that the insurgents arrived in three vehicles and motorcycles, shooting sporadically, burning houses and stealing unspecified number of cattle and camels.

The source said the insurgents accused the people of the town of spying on them and vowed to teach them a lesson.

He said over 70 bodies were collected after the attack.

“The insurgents burnt around 250 homes and looted goods. They said the act was to punish residents whom they alleged were providing information on their movement to security agencies.

“Therefore, freeing the zone with presence of civilian would provide them the ease of access to attack the military formation at Gubio and others without being noticed,” he told reporters.

Both men were caught last month at a cemetery in Imafon, Akure South Local Government Area where they were severing human corpses at the grave.

There was drama on Tuesday at the Magistrates Court sitting in Akure when two human skulls were brought in as "exhibits" against some grave diggers by the prosecutor

The two suspects - Mr Adewale Abiodun (40) and Mr Abel Olomofe (45)--were dragged before the Magistrates Court by the police after they were apprehended by residents.

Both men were caught last month at a cemetery in Imafon, Akure South Local Government Area where they were severing human corpses at the grave.

At the hearing on Tuesday monitored by SaharaReporters, the two human skulls were brought out from nylon as evidence to prove the case against the two accused men, thereby causing some stir in the court.

The two men were arraigned on three counts of conspiracy, unlawful possession, and indecently tampering with a corpse.

Their offence was said to be contrary to and punishable under sections 516, 329 and 242 of the Criminal Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

The Police Prosecutor, Mr Uloh Goodluck, said the offence committed by the two accused was subject to bail but prayed the court to allow him forward the case file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution, (DPP) for advice.

Messrs. Femi Adetoye and Jide Agboola, both counsel representing the defendant, had earlier sought an application to bail the accused persons pending their trial on the crime.

They also reminded the court of its promise at the last sitting to consider the bail application for the defendants.

In his ruling, Magistrate Tope Aladejana said the bail order had not yet matured and thereafter granted the request sought by the prosecutor to send the case file of the accused to the DPP office for legal advice.

He noted that the outcome of the advice would determine if their bail application would be considered by the court.

While ordering the return of the two accused back to the police custody, the Chief Magistrate adjourned their case till June 19, 2020.

The Federal Government through the National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Sani Aliyu, has released the guidelines for religious centres to resume activities in the country.

The National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Sani Aliyu, during a briefing in Abuja today disclosed thus:

“In view of the widespread community transmission of COVID-19, it is important that places of worship operate in a safe manner to ensure the protection of public health, avoid outbreaks and safeguard the health of the vulnerable members of the population.

“To this end, the following guidelines have been developed as a minimum set of standards that have to be complied with for places of worship to safely operate nationwide.

“They have been developed by the PTF in liaison with the leadership of religious communities in the country and should be used as a baseline for states to allow these activities.

“It is important to note that due to the nature of religious congregations, places of worship are particularly recognised to have a major potential for spreading COVID-19 infections amongst worshippers.

“Therefore places of worship that are not able to comply with these measures should not be allowed to operate by state governments.

The following measures are recommended;

“All places of worship must sign up to full compliance with all aspects of non-pharmaceutical interventions required to protect the public from COVID-19 including but not limited to ensuring the supply of running water and soap, alcohol sanitisers at entry and exit points in all high contact locations including bathrooms.

“Worshippers must sanitise their hands before entry.

“Worshippers must have temperature checks before entry and the supervision and the enforcement of this will be led by the leaders of these facilities.



Use of face masks is mandatory.

“Strongly discourage all close contacts including shaking hands, hugging, using prayer mats, musical organs, microphones etc.

“The capacity of the facility should be limited to allow physical distancing of at least two meters between persons.

“Facilities should consider the use of cloth or surface markings to guide distancing and people from the same household should be encouraged to stay together.



Local arrangements will apply to the capacity of these facilities but the most important thing is to make sure that the physical distancing rule applies.

“Local authorities will be advised in terms of areas of hotspots that might require greater restrictions

“Volunteers should be limited to exact numbers needed and none of the volunteers should have underlying medical conditions or be above the age of 55 years.

“Responsibility for enforcement will be with the leadership, church or mosque committees and supported by local authorities including state governments.

“Churches to open from 5am and close by 8pm.



"For churches, each service should be for a maximum of an hour with an interval of thirty minutes in between services to allow time for disinfection.


“Mosques may open 15 minutes before and ten minutes after prayers. The total time for Friday prayers should not exceed an hour.

“Islamiya schools, Sunday schools, night vigils, and children classes are to remain suspended.

“Worshippers should be encouraged to sign up for preferred worship and make the option of virtual service an option.

“There should be no gathering either or after worship and business outlets within the premises should remain closed.

“We are strongly advising vulnerable people with underlying conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases to please stay at home.

“Windows should be left open during services and preferably use open-air facility as much as possible.”

The suspect, Olufowoke Oladunjoye Emmanuel, a resident of Brentfield Avenue, Peace Estate, Magboro, Ogun State, was arrested on Thursday by the decoy team of the RRS.

Operatives of Rapid Response Squad have arrested a 19-year-old student of Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, for allegedly blackmailing Nigerian musician, Salawa Abeni, with her nude pictures.

The suspect, Olufowoke Oladunjoye Emmanuel, a resident of Brentfield Avenue, Peace Estate, Magboro, Ogun State, was arrested on Thursday by the decoy team of the RRS.

Oladunjoye in his statement to the police, confessed to having been the mastermind behind the ploy to publish some nude pictures of Abeni in exchange for money, adding that he was alone in the scheme.

He said he found the nude pictures in a memory card which he picked up on the floor in YabaTech sometime in November 2019.

He added that after downloading the nude photographs of the musician on his phone, he picked up her mobile number from her Instagram page.

He said, “On 1st of April, 2020, I chatted her up and also called her after sending a few of the photos to her online. My intention was to negotiate with her for few bucks and for me to destroy the photographs.

“I thought everything was going on fine until the following day when I heard the news of the blackmail over the radio. I was with my mother, she was even cursing the blackmailer unknown to her that I was the brains behind it.

“I immediately sneaked out, destroyed the memory card and threw my mobile phone and SIM card into a nearby wetland in Magboro. Since then, I never mentioned it to anyone and called Madam Salawa Abeni about it again.”

Lagos State Police Commissioner, Hakeem Odumosu, stated that no individual would be allowed to commit a crime in Lagos from any state or escape to other states in Nigeria to evade arrest.

The corporate headquarters of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in Port Harcourt has been shut down following a COVID-19 scare.

The coronavirus scare was triggered by the death of a member of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of NDDC, Mr. Ibanga Etang who died in the early hours of today May 28 at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH), Port Harcourt after a brief illness suspected to be COVID19.

An internal memo signed and released for the management by one Silas Anyanwu, directed all employees to vacate the headquarters as it would be shut down for two weeks with immediate effect.
