Travel / Re: Your First Day On A Plane by nairaner(m): 8:41pm On Feb 23, 2010
HMNN! It wasnt funny back then. I was on my way to my first family Holiday in the UK on British Airways. After managing to get through the take off wahala, STRUGGLLINGGGG to remain calm as i had been forming frequent-flier for this babe (whom i was tryna chatup) who sat right next to me with my younger bro on my other side. Each time i heard the seat belt warning alert sound, i would slowly look aeround as i wrongly made out that it was a serious danger sign.

Dinner time: The air hostess, a pretty white lady pushing a compact trolley packed with food, got to my seat as she was servingeard was and asked me a question with a smile (I assumed she liked me cos the smile sha) but what i actually heard was "Spri Spri Spri Spri Spri". I made out she was offering me food following her subtle sign language pointing at the tray infront of her. Not wanting to embarrass my self in front of this girl who i had managed to toast with a few good chats, i thought it would be wise to eat something i was used to and not anything new that could possibly make me purge. So i opted for Garry with Ogbonno soup lipsrsealed . Ofcourse you guess right on what happened next shocked. The girl bursts into serious laughter.

Landing time: After a series of weightlessness which generated some "hard man" panics, the plane attempted to touch ground i thought it was the end, a crash so i shouted YEH" and almost held onto this girl i was supposed to be toasting. The plain finally settles and then i ask her to give me her contact in Nigeria but she refused cry

Man that 6-hour flight was like 12 hours. Hey if you are that babe, say wots you. I WAS DIEING FOR YOU EHHNNNNNNNNNN!!!!! grin grin grin

Mr. Cartha:

kai Nigerians, who can be a saint b4 thee?! So looking @ da visible developments in Lagos state, yet u r not satisfied. Let him eat what he can provided I am satisfied with what he is doing as a governor. Taking a look @ wat Lagos is for da past 2 years, if it was developed @ da speed it is going now, I think it would have been transformed to cities in comparison with New York. To Fashola: Steal, embezzle, squander whatever u can,  but pls keep building Lagos state @ da pace & speed u r building it. If any1 vex 4 my comment, make God punish am!!!

Politics / Re: This Is The Reason Fashola Does Not Want To Be Probed - A Must Read. by nairaner(m): 7:34pm On Feb 23, 2010
We all know that this thread is as a result ongoing differences between Fashola and erstwhile boss, Tinubu. They claim they are the "True Face of Lagos" INDEED!!!! The ppl behind this so called organisation are Tinibu's puppets doing his bidding at hi command.

People forget these guys. For the first time in over a decade Lagos is WORKING. Those of us who have visited Nigeria via Lagos will attest to this right from the International airport Airport. Everywhere you go you see ongoing major Infrastructural developments or projects completed  at record time as far as the history of Lagos projects development timescales on record.
Major investments in every industry and beautification every where, infact for the first time in decades street lights function on major expressways and you can see the development steadily ongoing (and not the usual the usual abandoning or delay of contract implementations)

A lot of foreigners are streaming in due to the confidence Babatunde Raji Fashola ("BRF"wink has built.

See! Go to other states and try to investigate the magnanimous nature of corruption going on there with ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to show for huge expenditures.

Yes there may have be over inflated figures,we all know corruption has since the history of Nigeria been and grown in the system, it will not be eradicated in just 3 years of this man's first tenure. Even if its not the poor man cornering these monies, it may be the handy work of his cabinet members (most of whom he adopted from Tinubu's Government on Tinubu's insistence ). Maybe thats why these info we see was effortlessly retrieved from most ministries in the state.

The man Tinubu ran the affairs of the state for EIGHT (cool good years and CANNOT match what Fashola has done in his first 2 years. NOW THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION: WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL THE INTERNALLY GENERATED REVENUE??(Yes we know federal government held onto some of the state's monthly allocations.) BUT STILL, COOMMONNNN!!!

Let be realistic, these are the usual allegations politcians embark upon to smear a perceived opponent. Hence should not be taken seriously as they are largely unsubstantiated.

BRF has started something good in Lagos and has and refused to pay Tinibu's firm  somebody's firm a whooping 2 billion naira monthly as consultancy fees for tax collection in Lagos ONLY. (Now you wonder why a smear campaign wont be on?)

If they succeed in getting him out of office by force, then only God will save that country. Ofcoucurse that would mean ALL governors in all 36 states should be taken out by their respective legislative arms as you will be most appalled to hear the heinous transactions going on. That of lagos (if really there is any) is literally nothing cos you can Atleast see something.

Abeg sorry i hope say your eye never dey pain you as you read reach this isde. E just dey pain me say them wan commot this man.  I be more of a daily observer on Nairaland but get forced to make contributions when i have strong convictions with facts.

Cheers All,

Listen! This is just the bitter truth pill. Poster is indeed speaking from experience same of which i have had. Though i dont agree with the "war" statement, i have come to believe know that women indeed not only need but LIKE a very good mix of both worlds (the good guy+bad guy attitude)all in her man. Otherwise she would perceive something is missing and get tempted to explore that she is not getting.

I have over time sat back to look at relationships of guys/ladies i know well. And i note that the relationships with the guy exhibiting some roughness/ruggedness (please e i dont mean violence in any sense), have the ladies more committed than ever.

Its a fact and a bitter truth and you simply have the choice to take it or leave it.

Having said this, hey guys be humane and reasonable in delivering your trueaction "controls" (it can be done in a loving way you know). One thing you dont want is manufacturing scorned woman i tell you.

Car Talk / Re: How Useful AreCar Navigation Systems On Nigerian Roads? by nairaner(m): 1:33pm On Jan 07, 2010
I am now wondering the authenticity of this man's claims. Its all bark bark and more bark without action and nothing to show to back it up other than maps(only God Knows if they are really this man's), the same sort of maps the "hackers" are showing. So who really is telling the truth or claiming. Worst of all, he seems to be painting himself as the omnipotent source of Maps for the Nigerian market which is absolutely impossible.

Why does this man seem to hate competition (by hook or cook) and resort to fighting everybody who is not patronizing him? Its an open market, do your bit (not by raining abuses, not professional by the way)and allow ppl to decide who they patronize.

The attitude exhibited here speaks volumes on what unsatisfied customers may receive should they express their negative concerns. With this attitude, I foresee you rudely speaking or raining abuses on exisiting customers who for whatever little reason may choose to pass feedback on their dissatisfaction (if any) with your product.

Lastpage as a show of regard to contributors in this thread did the honourable and dignifying thing apologizing to you on his car road tax stinker. The right thing to have done was to have swallowed the pride and revert same gesture considering the fact u claim u didnt mean to abuse.

Aspiring customers, pls take note,

ah! this thread has gotten dis hot? From my observation of the thread, i can see laby as a rude way of talking or getting a message across even though he may not mean it in the rude manner it is easily perceived. So i can understand where lastpage is coming from.

@ Wilife u can easily mail them (radnon) . email should b on their website www.radnon.com .
Talking about mobile maps, months back I once mailed them regarding mobile maps for my HTC phone(2 use while i will b there for last xmas) for which they offered about 18k. A friend back in Nigeria uses both their mobile and car versions and seems to be  saying their products competes with leading products like those used here in the UK and in the US, basically speaking highly of their products. He took me around with his car version and it was SURE impressive, the mobile interface is no different. From there website, they seem to be excellent at what they do.

PPL, if u all ask me, i think GPS navigation in nigeria will pick up with time looking at wots on ground now. It surely gets u from one point to another with alternative routes on offer all without asking directions from strangers/okadas who could inturn turn against u and rob u (the main reason i wanted one on my HTC).  Infact it came to my rescue after a late nite boxing day party. My fiancee (driving) and i got lost somewhere in Ikeja. Pulled out my my phone, and the Radnon thingy (to my amazement on those dark dark roads) got us on track and before we knew it we were on Third Mainland bridge heading for the island (how relieved we were).

So yep i believe they are of good use in Nigeria. As for the roads condition issue, we will surely get there. The man Fashola is doing wonders in that good old city of Lagos

Good luck! smiley

@ BigMike & Power2009
I am really happy for you both (and have to say envy you too), welldone. Can i ask how long you actually took to prepare for the consultancy exam? and what country you are in @ Bigmike.

I have just yesterday managed to severe myself from the harsh rigourous Nigerian environment (with unstable electricity Supply, No water, slow slow erratic internet(frustrates one from carrying out SAP research online), HOURS-spent commuting a 30mins journey on roads, extended family/friends demands) to the UK. Henceforth i have a clearer head towards achieving my "this-thread" inspired desire to becoming a Certified Consultant which started about 3 - 4 months ago. In fact in less than 24 hours, i have surfed the surfed the net using pool resources i jotted from this thread and have acquired so much information (would cost me 5 days in nigeria due to the erratic&slow browsing they call "broadband" -indeed!!)and i have  begun to suffer information overload, just need to sort out the junk info.

Having said all these, there should be no excuse for failure of any form.

Where did you get the IDES from. The closest i have reached to getting to it is the flash simulation of how to install & configure it. Kindly furnish me with it. I also wouldn't mind receiving your materials on HCM though i am on SD & MM. Also strongly looking at the BPX certs too (considering my Computer science degree with my software requirements gathering job role as an IT Business analyst/consultant) as this maps to my background.
http://www.sap.com/about/newsroom/press.epx?pressid=10074

Would also like to hear any words of advice gathered from your preparation experiences to keep me in check. My email is sincere2u@talk21.com

I know first step is certification, but ANYONE WHO KNOWS AN EMPLOYER/CONTRACTOR LOOKING FOR A TRAINEE SAP CONSULTANT IN THE UK, FOR 50 POUNDS A DAY OR EVEN FOR FREE, I DEY HIA OOO,  wink wink wink seriously

Looking forward to your responses.

Romance / Re: To Marry My Girlfriend He's Offering Me 2 Million Naira! by nairaner(m): 10:27pm On Nov 14, 2009
Ok  lets get serious now. For a man to be interested in marriage with a woman, that guy must have been following your girl for months and considering the fact that your girlfriend didnt tell you, it means she was strongly considering him(thats if she hasnt already told him you are the obstacle between the both of them).  In my own opinion, the girl may already be off your hook. But hey all is not lost, listen, just tell the top shot big bwoy that you were just about to propose marriage to her. I guarantee you, he will up the stake to make it 3-4 million.

Take it as the reward for your patience and hardwork, and move on! wink

On a second note, be reminded that he is desperate to have offered you 2 million. If you are really percieved as an "obstacle", then you really have to take to my first note before he sends them cool after your life as an act of desperation.

Words are enough the the wiser

Its SIMPLE!. If you are not in any trust related issues/arguments with your wife AND if your wife trusts you, then tell your wife about the friend's bday and if shes cool with it then Go otherwise callup this ex friend and tell her some diplomatic story and wish her a bday. Also ask yourself, is she genuinely inviting me as a friend or cos shes single and considering resparking old tunes.

Its just a matter of luck. If you have a curious lady as a girlfriend/wife, she is bound to stray (to see whats on offer elsewhere) the moment she gets one. Its becomes hard to trust a lady after she utters such lies. Did you try probing to know what her actual mission out that even was?? Communication is Key!
Nairaland / General / Niger Delta: Constructive Ideas On Developmental Projects For The Region by nairaner(m): 9:41am On Aug 22, 2009
We all know the predicament of the Niger delta region which has carried on over the years as a result of basically neglect, mismanagment and financial recklessness by not necessarily people at the helm of affairs but the politicians/non-politicians around them who furnish these people with developmental project ideas to carter for their selfish interests. Heaps of condemnation and blames on the Niger delta leaders/stake holders (some of whom lack ideas and most of whom mean well for the region but mis-informed by selfish individuals) abound all over the internet.

The task of improving the social and environmental conditions in the Niger Delta is is enormous. We as Nigerians cannot leave it to just the people at the helm of affairs (particularly the M.D of the Niger Delta Development commission -NDDC, NigerDelta Minister with billions of naira at their disposal to develop the region) who need be furnished with genuine neutral-based developmental ideas rather than those implemented by politicians soley for personal gains or interest.

We as a people, as professionals on neutral grounds with no selfish interests are in a better position to profer such ideas with a potentially greater positive impact on the Niger Delta region and its inhabitants. Let us use this medium as a constructive tool to communicate innovative Niger Delta development projects for implementation geared towards improving community needs, social and physical infrastructure development, economic development, technology development, environmental remdiation & stability for this Niger Delta Region.

It is my view that concerned citizens(politicians/non politicians) will come accross our suggested ideas who will pass them to the authourities who will inturn study/screen them and with the Grace of God implement them for the benefit of the Niger Delta and its inhabitants.

This is not the time for finger pointing or passing blames as we already have that all over the internet but no such constructive one as this thread is intended to be. I urge you all to remain positive in your proposed developmental project ideas and hope positively.

Religion / Re: Is It Ok To Pay My Tithes To Different Churches? by nairaner(m): 10:17am On Aug 20, 2009
OK Guys!!! Lets end this discussion with the quoted verses from the bible and use our own discretion to decide if to pay or not to pay OR where/how to pay.

As for me i am for it and going by these verses, it ought to be done and should given to the house of God (not ONE church)

Taking time to read through this will prevent blind arguments on this thread  smiley

•  Matthew 23:23 .

I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

•  Deuteronomy 12:17 .

•  Nehemiah 10:38 .
And the priest the son of Aaron shall be with the Levites, when the Levites take tithes: and the Levites shall bring up the tithe of the tithes unto the house of our God, to the chambers, into the treasure house.

And at that time were some appointed over the chambers for the treasures, for the offerings, for the firstfruits, and for the tithes, to gather into them out of the fields of the cities the portions of the law for the priests and Levites: for Judah rejoiced for the priests and for the Levites that waited.

We are wary of shylocks ripping us off.

Just as Okeyz has just partly said, it would be an avenue for aspiring SAP consultants to meet, rub minds, share info, and clear SAP misconceptions (if any) which we may come accross in our quest to become consultants. It will not be a weekly thing but as and when the need arises. In addition to it is to help form and maintain a good network between ourselves especially when we start getting into the SAP industry as players, the players could assist the jobless certified consultants in getting in.

Less i forget, all i can say to Markos and Kiwi992 and the other helpful contributors to this thread is a big Thank You.

Though it may seem unsuccessful and frustrating to note ignorance reluctance-to-read attitude of some of nairalanders on this thread, your contributions have immensely given a sense of direction to a good number of aspiring SAP consultants (myself included).

As i can see pple like scorpio has started. Please be a bit patient with us all as we forge ahead together!!!

We need you guys around!

Una dey see wetin dey ontop ma thread? This na wetin Kiwi and markos don dey talk since, now dem don find us reach here and wan come dey train us (No thanks!! we got our very own trainers). OYA MAKE UN JOIN ME SHOUT HOLY GHOSTTTTTTT FIIRREEEE!!!!

Ok but seriously guys we need to move and as fast as we possibly can.

I am an IT professional in the area of Business Process Automation and have longed to get into SAP. I came accross this thread sometime last week while trying to find my left and right in the vast SAP world (sincerely, was beginning to suffer from Information overload and confusion from the vast information available on the SAP site). Mann i couldnt believe finding this sort of thread. We have literally been spoon feed by our very own SAP gurus and i must say its really really rear. We are in an environment where industry successful ppl with vast experience withold these sort of mentoring for fear of being "overtaken" and here we are having it thrown at us for nothing but for our very own good and benefit.

In the past one week, with JUST this thread, i have been able to get a good sense of direction on my SAP career and working towards it.

We all have to team up and get things going, supporting each other when we come accross stubling blocks. Briz , nna,, as i run my own IT business, I am prepared to provide a venue using part of my office space. But i would first have to know the number of ppl interested in showing up(due to space restrictions). Then we can draw up a programme of events for the event, aims and objective.

Man this thread has placed fire on our heads my head, and is just the right sort of mentoring i had been looking for before now as i had been "keeping it for later"

Guys lets all work together to move forward, create an air tight system preventing these ppl coming in to take wot we could most definitley do ourselves.

Looking forward

Its very simple. Six years on and he is definitely not sure about you. He just cant afford to scare away a potential wifey who may be on his facebook by changing his status on his profile.

What i suggest you do is to be honest with yourself. You must have observed a number of signs from him probably enough to help you come to a solid conclusion on the true situation of things.

Act now!!!
