Politics / Re: What Are The Projects Commissioned By Gej? by nairawall: 10:09am On Jul 21, 2012
but which of the projects are currently undergoing work outside the power project?

I would have expected smaller, easy to complete projects in the transport, manufacturing and agricultural sectors along side the power projects. We don't want projects that would be abandoned after few years.
Politics / What Are The Projects Commissioned By Gej? by nairawall: 7:54am On Jul 21, 2012
Can we list some of the successful projects gej has been able to commission done by his government? I am talking about projects his government initiated and implimented.

If lagos government can constantly commission world class projects with the limited access to oil funds, one is forced to wonder what really is GEJ and his team doing with our oil revenue.
Politics / Re: Fashola Inspects LAGBUS' New Site, Oshodi New Market. (pics) by nairawall: 7:40am On Jul 21, 2012
Fashola has a better taste when it comes to projects. The architectural work of his projects are world standard. Also the concepts are innovative and beyond the Nigerian-scope.

He is gradually littering the landscape of Lagos with beautiful, functional and mission drien structures.

I have viewed lots of pictures from Imo state, and I couldn't help but wish Rochas can up his game. The structures are too basic, even the roads are of middle-grade standard.

Nigeria needs world class projects like the several projects I have seen Fashola impliment. Fash hardly even announce the plans, signings and even the contracts. We only get to know when he is commissioning these projects.

Definitely his second term in office is far better than his first cos this 2nd term is more about capital projects.
Politics / Re: PDP Governorship Candidate Airhiavbere Loses In His Unit by nairawall: 10:07pm On Jul 14, 2012
This kind of trashing PDP is taking can never happen on presidential elections. States like Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross Rivers etc will massively rig the elections for PDP no matter what.

We need to start campaigning against PDP now to send the message very deep to the grass roots.

Oshomole was able to achieve this feat because he played the PDP propaganda machinery better than PDP itself. GEJ won the last election because he promoted regional, religious and tribal bigotry through media propaganda. We all bought it and went all out to vote him, even the enlightened Lagos electorate also bought the propaganda.

PDP from the inception of our recent democracy has never won an election without rigging in Nigeria. As more electorate are being empowered or informed to make their votes count, PDP will definitely lose more states by 2015.

The day PDP lose the presidency, will be the beginning of a new and better Nigeria.

Politics / House Probes Committee Chairman For ‘abusing’ Otedola by nairawall: 5:00pm On Jul 06, 2012
A lawmaker on Thursday protested the abusive language used against oil businessman, Mr. Femi Otedola, by the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Ethics and Privileges, Mr. Gambo Musa.

The lawmaker, Simon Arabo from Kaduna State, said that the purported abusive language used on Otedola had brought the “image of the House to disrepute.”

Arabo also deplored the refusal of the committee to hear Otedola’s testimony in public, arguing that there was no section of the House rules which required that it must sit in secret.

Arabo’s protest on the floor forced the presiding Deputy Speaker, Mr. Emeka Ihedioha, to ask the Chief Whip of the House, Mr. Isiaka Bawa, to investigate the matter and report back to members.

The aggrieved lawmaker expressed concern that the committee suddenly decided to sit in camera after the House had already told Nigerians that the hearing would be in the open.

“The modus operandi of the committee is bringing the House into disrepute”, he stated.

The ethics panel had invited Otedola on Tuesday to testify in the ongoing investigation into the $620,000 bribery allegation he made against the suspended Chairman, House Committee on Monitoring of Subsidy Regime, Mr. Farouk Lawan.

Lawan had earlier testified before the committee in camera but Otedola who appeared before the committee on Tuesday declined to testify, submitting that he would only do so if the session would be given a live television broadcast.

Reacting to the development, Musa had said that Otedola was misguided not to testify before his committee. He said the businessman was disrespectful and that his conduct was “stupid.”

Otedola reacted on Wednesday, denying that he insulted the committee members.

On Thursday, however, Arabo told the House that the approach adopted by the panel infringed on Otedola’s privilege and advised the House to caution the panel.

According to him, the same committee that earlier told Nigerians that it would sit in the open, should have explained to them that it had changed its position before proceeding with the investigation.

Arabo also observed that the comments of Musa after meeting Lawan portrayed him as biased.

He recalled the chairman saying that Lawan gave “satisfactory answers” to the committee and could not understand why in Otedola’s case, the answers were “stupid.”

“What will it cost the committee if Otedola testifies in the open? There is nowhere in the House rules that says that Otedola must be heard in secret,” he added.

Webmasters / The Nigeria Web Market Industry Is Quiet Right Now by nairawall: 3:26pm On Jul 06, 2012
The entire Nigeria web sphere is awash with politics. You are either reading a political or sport thread on Nairaland or reading through the news articles on Vanguard, Punch or some other national dailies online.

Alot of blogs are currently seeing their web traffic fall massively. People are getting tired of reading gossips(LindaIkeji), motivationals (Deoluakinyemi) and others.

You can quickly see this trend when you look through the threads posted on the Web Master section on NL. The posts are getting very boring.

What could be done to improve and sensitize the Nigeria web industry to embrace newer technologies. We need great projects like Groupon, Instagram, Youtubes, Yahoo etc in this country.

Webmasters / Re: Building A Recharge Card Printing Software by nairawall: 6:34pm On Jul 04, 2012
I think you didn't understand what I am trying to say. I am building a legal recharge card printing software. The pins will still be bought from dealers.

My current concern now is whether all PINs are thesame irrespective of the dealer. The pins are posted above were gotten from a particular dealer.

My questions is:
Are Recharge PINs in their encrypted format thesame for all Dealers?

Religion / Re: What Is The Difference Between SOUL & SPIRIT? by nairawall: 6:00pm On Jun 22, 2012
The human being is made of three parts which are:

Body (flesh)
Soul(mind) and
Spirit.

The three is inseparable until death. The spirit is like a template that can be easily possessed.

This very nature of the spirit is what gives right to the issues of demon possessed humans or even somebody getting 'born again'.

because the spirit controls everything we are, it remains the most important part of every human. You can be spirit minded (having your soul having a union with your spirit) or canally minded(having your flesh and soul in union). The former gives rise to life while the latter is death.

Webmasters / Nairaland Is Nigeria Most Traffic Site by nairawall: 6:32pm On Jun 15, 2012
Nairaland is currently Nigeria most traffic website according to alexa.com. It currently has a better global traffic ranking than Vanguardngr.com which is currently the most visited Nigeria website.

As a result of the current growth rate of NL, it should return back to the No. #1 Nigeria most visited website. It is currently growing faster than Vanguardgnr.com.

I just like this Farouk guy sense of humor.

Nothing will happen!!! Farouk knows it because he is privy to a lot of shady deals the entire democratic era (since 1999) has witnessed. Everybody within the government has a lot of skeletons in their cupboard.

Make dem try jail Farouk whether the entire government won't com down. All they can do is rubbish the report and not Farouk!!!

Webmasters / Re: Nairaland Frontpage Suggestion by nairawall: 3:13pm On Jun 14, 2012
If you use a computer algorithm or logic to post topics to the Nairaland home page will cause a lot of not too good topics making it to the index page. People will be able to doctor the pattern and get their threads to be featured.

These are the logic used in ranking topics:

1.) Most viewed
2.) Most commented
3.) Most liked

All these metrics can easily be forced. I can refreshed my topic several times to have a large view count, or create several accounts to make a lot of comments or likes.

What NL needs is a way to marry both (Human and Algorithm).

I like this thread. It is very insightful. It has been long you get to see thread like this on the webmaster section of NL.

I like the $0.01/fan. It is cheap and systematic. I will try that with a free facebook coupon and an investment of 200usdollars to see how it goes.
