I will be brief as much as possible...

I am typing in disdain and gross depression. I am 32 years old. I finished from a university in the year 2012. As it is always of any person living in the glory and self-simulated value of finishing with good grade and from one of the leading universities in Nigeria, one would, of course, erroneously expected to retire from the academic environment, to a cushy labour market environment. Far from what I confidently pictured while in school, it is 6 years now and still counting, of active service in the labor market in search of deserving job. From the beginning of post-university time, many of my friends picked up YAHOO instead of wasting their time in d tensed labor market while some newly opted for it along the line of their hopelessness in the labor market. I was invited but I took my uncompromising stance. So far, I have tried to upgrade my self sha with professional exams but yet not materialising.

Behold, my friends are now juicily successful in their fraudline path. Even if I get good work today, it may take me 15 years of conservative savings before matching their lofty height of success. Almost all of them are now married, have an obviously paying businesses and of course, possess what it takes to earn Daddy status in their respective environment. While me no even get an apartment of my own... Ah still they live with my brother who is already married.

I am aware of how they make their money through compromising gmail, but I was hellbent even though the cross breeds of alerts on their respective phones is always intimidating. Even, sometimes, they did engage my service of writing an official and professionally worded statements meant to be furnished to their clients.

Funniest thing and not unexpected anyway, some of them are now stylishly cutting me off. Because I am presently far below their current social status and probably because I seems to them not to be a serious type or seems to them to be a coward.

For days now, I have been contemplating compromise and it's appearing to me that it is getting too late to be an upright man.

Dear Nairalanders, pls have you ever been in this situation and how did you overcome the thought of such compromise ?

Of what use is it to gain the wealth and still end in hell.

What will you gain by memorizing a book with historical inaccuracies, like Abraham building the kaaba, despite him living over 1000km away from Saudi Arabia or a book that claims Alexander the great was a muslim. I rather invest my time really learning Arabic I can understand the quran and hadiths to see the deception in the religion not just reciting words I do not understand or speak.

Well arabic is the key to knowledge in islam, but momerisation of the Qur'an is the foundation of true knowledge. Any way only Allah knows why I wasn't born into a more Islamic home/community. Just have to work harder and gain more knowledge. I have stopped giving people like you a lot of my time, so I would'nt bother myself arguing with you.

I know more than 10 people who have memorised the Qur'an, God willing I too will soon join them. Memorisation is not really hard, being a child and piety also helps a lot because it requires dedication. Being consistent with it keeps it in the memory. During memorisation you expected to revise consistently, lets say i have memorised 36 pages I am expected to revise everything which can be done in a maximum of 1 hour and a minimum of 45 to 50 mins. By the time i have reached 72 pages I would'nt need to be revising upto 2 hours or 1 hr 30 mins. I would just be revising my previous memorisations during the week then i will use a day for a thorough revision which would cover everything I have memorised. I will keep on doing so till I memorise the Qur'an. And after memorising the Qur'an it becomes compulsory for you to perform tahajud (a sort of night vigil), reciting nothing less than 20+ pages.

As for the Qur'an I learnt that some Christians were captured in a cave and made to write the Qur'an from biblical manuscripts.

I don't know if this is true but a converted Islamic cleric gave this narration.

he has not shown any sign of disbelief why declare him a kafir. Because he says tijjaniyyah are muslims does not make him a kafir. Scholars that jabata would not even near their feet in knowledge and are salafiy don't declare them kuffar, they're in error not disbelief. Unless someone is declared a kafir by the book of Allah or sunnah, concensus made by a certified scholar is required. Declaring someone a kafir is not a joke. If you're wrong you will account for it on judgement day.

Let's get real! I thanks GOD for my current spiritual state. I was able to give up my addiction to ganja(indian hemp) 3 years ago when I newly accepted Christ.

But sometimes the urge to smoke still comes back so strongly even more than the urge to have sex/fornicate.

My saving Grace has being that I realized throughout my years of ganja addition then, whenever I don't smoke for some days, I'll remember my dreams vividly and the things I saw would always happen.

Ever since I totally quit, this phenomena has been constant. So, I discovered that everyone is his/her best Pastor/Prophet/Alfa/Herbalist if only we can do away with vices such as sexual immorality, smoking, etc.

For brethren here on NL that have totally broken free from these familiars shackles and common captivities, help us by telling us how you permanently freed your mind from entertaining or dwelling on the evil thoughts that leads to sins.

May the truth lead you brother, always remember that Allah is your master, this will help alot. When you are about to sin remeber that He is watching you [for which greater witness is it to testify against you than the judge Himself], remember his favours upon you and how he never abandoned you. About the Hadith. You'll be claiming again that you read things with your minds opened. Where's the insult in what the Prophet (peace be upon him) said? If you're sensible enough to want someone to do something while you didn't want him to be biased when making a choice about it. We surely know that you have to bring a worse example(if the person might not like the situation).

It's akin to the example that you brought about obeying ones mother. Yes, we have to obey our parents(even if they are none Muslims) unless they want us to worship none other than Allah. Being non Muslim is worse than being prostitute.
