Yes I am in Nigeria and will be applying from here mattfeuter: |
I paid full tuition in February while i was in London. I called London campus today to ask about CAS issuance and I got the impression that it’s not certain if CAS will be issued for October start. Something about things not being in place fully or so. They even suggested I transfer to Sunderland campus so I can get issued CAS soon. After the call I emailed them to ask about getting a full refund. I was told it will take 2 working days since CAS has not been issued to me mattfeuter: |
Yea I know a girl headed to Sunderland campus (October start) and she has been issued CAS. I am not sure what the issue is with the London campus or why they haven’t started issuing CAS. They haven’t been able to give a concrete reason. I am now considering offers from other universities. mattfeuter: |
I’ve had the CAS request form since March (because I should have resumed in April) However London campus has told me to submit it again by mid-August mattfeuter: |
London campus. Haven’t gotten CAS either. Fingers crossed CAS is issued in time for October start thofunmie: |
Hi there. Are you headed to the Sunderland or London campus? Gotten CAS yet? thofunmie: |
Oh please! He/She didn’t need to say all that to prove anything to you! They wanted answers based on an aspect and instead you went on a sanctimonious rant. He/she didn’t owe you an introduction or recap. They came with a direct question. You could have simply answered like you have just done or moved on. Did you need to go in on them the way you did? Was that necessary? hosey: |
Hi everyone. I know CAS can be issued 3 months from course start date. Is it odd that Uni of Sunderland London (or at least the admissions staff who replied my email) said I should leave my CAS request till middle of August considering my course start date is October 19. A previous email from the university mentioned that for students resuming in October, CAS issuance will commence from mid-July. I have replied the officer asking if the university position has changed because I don’t see how I will be left with enough time if I leave it till August |
Heard of repatriation flights? rs172: |
Things are a bit different now SAMDEEA123: |
Thank you dduchess90: |
Hello everyone. Has anyone here recently renewed their passport? I need to renew mine in a few days and I’ve been told I need my NIMC slip to do so. I don’t have the slip anymore but I was able to retrieve my NIN using a shortcode I got off the NIMC website. I assume the primary detail they need off the slip is the NIN? |
Happy for her! I had my pre CAS interview in February, paid full tuition and came back to apply for tier 4 then corona virus happened and everything shut down Hopefully things begin to look up again mattfeuter: |
I’m headed to Uni of Sunderland too but the London campus and October start. She must resuming in September then mattfeuter: |
Your university may ask to see your 28-day bank statement to be sure you meet the financial requirements of the Home Office. You may also be asked questions similar to what you will be asked during your visa credibility interview. I’ve answered based on my experience with my university. It was called a visa preparation session and it was one of the conditions I had to meet before issuance of CAS. The country rep of my university sent me sample questions Lianalexa: |
The Home Office and universities use Oanda for exchange rate conversion. Within the last 30 days (I stand to be corrected) the rate has gone as high as N491. N500 may be a safe mark but no one can accurately say. I used N509 as my safe mark. bayosegun: |
Wait what?? You think he called him bingo as in dog? LMAO Dear sister, bingo! in that context means “on point!” Or “exactly!” Not bingo as in bingo your friendly dog SAMDEEA123: |
LOL. The universities considering this option were named in the article. The article also mentioned Indian and Chinese students. Considering the contribution students from these countries make to the educational sector, it is not suprising. Of course the flights won’t be free. The option is only being considered in the event that students can’t get commercial flights Aprokodaughter: |
If you’re referring to the veracity of the information, you’re welcome to read the full article on the named website. If you’re referring to the logistical possibility, that’s left to be seen in the coming months. Some things we never thought could happen have indeed happened. Mikeval001: |
(As seen on The Pie News), universities around the world are planning on chartering planes for international students (read Chinese and Indian students) to bring them onto campuses, as part of a bid to tackle travel disruption caused by Covid-19. Interesting times we’re in |
You are right. I’ll just have to keep looking out for updates. Thanks a lot LagosismyHome: |
Yes. I’m keeping my fingers crossed and checking for updates as well. I really hope that I can submit my application before the test result expires. I already have passport renewal to deal with. I can’t apply if passport validity is less than 6 months from my course start date solarinde: |
Did my tuberculosis test on the 27th of February and was just about to have CAS issued when COVID-19 shut everything down. My TB test result expires on the 27th of August and I’m considering booking a new appointment for a repeat test as I may not be able to submit my visa application before the current one expires. No one knows for certain when the visa application centre will reopen for new applications. N54 000 and almost a whole day down the drain. |
Your answer about CAS and bank statements is not entirely correct. Some schools ask to see a 28-day bank statement before CAS is issued. He/She would have to find out from the university of choice if a 28-day bank statement is one of the conditions to be met for issuance of CAS amaeve: |
Because some of “them” asked that you check the websites of the universities? C’mon you can do better than that. Like someone asked, if no one has the info, won’t you apply to those universities? Every university has information on fees and discounts/scholarships. It’s simply a matter of checking. People only want the best for you by asking you to check yourself. The British education system involves quite a bit of independent research and anyone who doesn’t develop such skills will find it difficult to cope. People here mean well by asking you to do the search yourself and it’s a quick one trust me arhyur: |
While you’re waiting for someone to give you a list of these schools, it would not hurt to do a quick search yourself. All you have to do is check the requirements of these schools. It’s always stated somewhere there. Gavrelino123: |
I was for a short while. Are you also headed to Uni of Sunderland? mattfeuter: |
I’m headed to Uni of Sunderland but the London campus. I booked an apartment using student dot com and I was able to inspect it while I was in London earlier in the year. Check to see if they have listings in Sunderland. I paid for two weeks for a start. I think accommodation questions were also answered during the Q&A session on WhatsApp. Are you part of the group chat? Applicants got the chance to ask several questions Omah7979: |
Really? LOL pretty1986: |
Quite sorry to hear that. I would have thought that the university would adapt and relax some requirements in light of everything happening. It is unlikely that IELTS tests will hold this year so anyone without a valid result will have to forego their offer with that university. Good luck! Aprokodaughter: |
Really? Good to connect with you. Were you a part of the WhatsApp Q&A session held yesterday for international applicants? That’s where I got to ask about the English language requirement waiver Tolextonia: |
My IELTS result expires in a few days and considering current extenuating circumstances and the fact that Uni of Sunderland moved my start date to October, I asked for a waiver. A letter from your uni may suffice. Please go ahead to ask your uni. Most unis are making exceptions/adjustments to their requirements in light of recent events Aprokodaughter: |
