Hoverboy27: From London Heathrow, take the underground train to kings cross station (train) or London Victoria (bus). From these stations you can get direct link to Newcastle. Then from Newcastle central, take the local metro towards South Hylton, straight to Sunderland metro or the station closest to your house. Very straightforward. In terms of cost, national express bus or mega bus from London Victoria is cheaper. One way from £10 if you book earlier. For train, maybe from £30!if you get the £30 railcard. Without railcard it can cost up to £70. Check Trainline of accurate prices pls. Copied this out promptly. Thanks a lot. Was going to fly initially but this is a much cheaper alternative. |

This is false, airlines can sale any amount of ticket directly from their website stressfree, they don’t necessarily need agents to help them do that.
Agents were more useful prior to internet and smart phone invention. Vast majority of travelers will do perfectly well without an agent something that is almost impossible yes ago.
In all business dealings when you buy in bulk you get discount, this is not peculiar to ticket booking agents. Airlines also do these discounts on their websites You are well-versed when it comes to immigration advice and your counsel here has been invaluable. But for Pete’s sake, admit that you are not entirely right on this particular one and let it go. C’mon! I personally got my ticket much cheaper than what was reflecting on the airline website. No one is advocating for the use of licensed agencies everytime. No one is positing that discounted fares are only available through agencies. We’re saying SOMETIMES a traveler can get much cheaper bookings through agencies. What is so difficult to understand in that point? |

Hoverboy27: just reading through and for this one he failed it. I think he generally doesn’t like to accept when he’s wrong. You’re right here. Agents can sometimes offer you way cheaper than airlines. I’m not talking about roadside agents o. I’m referring to wakanow, travel start and likes. Like Olosho explained, they get discounted prices because of the number of seats they sell everytime and it makes a lot of sense. I have checked my trip to London on airlines and it’s very expensive, but cheaper on travelstart. Another thing is card payment. Most of our cards are restricted from online purchases so you can’t even buy directly from the airlines except you go to their office. Even cards that work will charge you mad exchange rate. So In this scenario agents are better. He’s right about the hassle of changing ticket if anything goes wrong but he failed the pricing aspect. My two cents sha Basically what I tried to say when I first read his post. Using licensed agencies is not entirely bad. One just needs to be careful because they may or may not be helpful in resolving issues that arise after ticket purchase. However I personally booked my BA flight through one of these licensed agencies and the same flight on the BA website was N150,000 higher. |

Oloshi83: BA only fly to London from Nigeria. So to buy a ticket to any other airport in the UK, it would be Lagos/Abuja - London - Third City e.g. Newcastle in this case. So the 266k fare is the 215k promo fare + the cost of a ticket from London to Newcastle. Yes exactly what was done in her situation. |

justwise: Agents will not sale below airline ticket price. This is not entirely true. Most of the times I have purchased my travel tickets it has been through licensed agents like Wakanow (this is not a sponsored ad) I purchased my BA ticket for N214,000 which was a student fare I accessed through same agency mentioned above. Should people be careful when using their services? Yes. However your statement above is not entirely true sir |

BelleJay: Has anyone here booked their flights with Wakanow? I was told I will do covid test even though I want to book British Airways. I booked my BA flight through Wakanow last week. I wasn’t told I would need to provide a covid result and BA does not require one either. I suspect Nigeria airport authorities are the ones asking to see it randomly (various travelers have had varying experiences) I would advise you do the test at one of the centers offering it free of charge. Whatever happens on the day you’re traveling, you’ll be covered. |

toyclicks: So I just got off the phone with Wakanow. the lady told me the promo on BA flights is for those under the ages of 30 so I am disqualified.
For the promo, the slots per day are limited. so if the slot for the day you intend to fly is finished, you will need to choose another date that still has available slots
Anyways Emirate was a good deal 252k, 2 hrs stop over in Dubai.
She also mention that C-19 test was compulsory including for BA travellers as it is an FG requirement and not just by airline requirement. So @naledis, you are right I’m a little over 30 and no one asked for my age when I was booking the flight. I think they said that to discourage you. Regarding the test, BA doesn’t require one but I think FG does even for departing passengers. It now boils down to the airport officials on the day you’re traveling. Some may ask , others may not. It’s a gamble and one would be better off having the test result ready to show if asked |

LagosismyHome: Really don't know what you want to hear.... I think your mind is already made up that despite when you have heard from first hand experience that a test is not needed you still insisting on doing it My concerns are mine and they are valid. You think I haven’t searched Nairaland using key words and read conflicting experiences from different travelers? If I choose to do the test free or paid, that’s my prerogative. |

mattfeuter: Yes it’s mainly for arriving passengers.
A friend travelled to London via bA two days ago and she was not required to show a Covid test.
Why don’t you call BA before wasting 51k? BA said the test isn’t mandatory. My concern is with the Lagos airport officials. I’ll do the test just to avoid delays on travel day. |

excellence235: Exactly! This is why I am asking. Cos it’s like Nigeria isn’t sure of what they want. Plus, you can’t trust airport officials. Small power like this and they’ll become gods You know exactly how it goes. I did ask an airport official and he said airport authorities are asking departing passengers for test results. It sounds ridiculous but looks like we have to give unto Caesar what is Caesar’s. Would have just been nice to not spend an avoidable N50,400 |

Did you travel from Nigeria? If yes, did they check for covid test certificate before you were allowed to check in? I need to get clarification on this too. British Airways has confirmed that a covid test result is not mandatory but I would hate to get to the airport and authorities still demand one |
Travel › Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by naledis(f): 7:40pm On Sep 14, 2020 |
mattfeuter: No Covid test needed if travelling with British Airways. But there’s a portal where departing passengers need to register. And it takes you on to a registration page asking you to select a test center for the test after paying N50,400. I don’t understand why the federal government is mandating departing passengers to do a covid test especially when the airline and country one is traveling to isn’t demanding one |

Kingp91: Did you submit any kinda of document to this effect? For university admission, no. For my visa application, I included my business registration certificate and an entrepreneurship training certificate. I’m a self-sponsored business owner who graduated 12 years ago and is now going for an MBA program. This is why I included those documents. Everyone’s circumstances are different. You don’t have to include these documents. Some people have posited that the simpler your application is, the better for you. Including some documents outside of the usual requested documents may or may not complicate your application. I used my discretion. |

Wizzy2010: Please is 10years study gap a problem in getting an admission . No. I graduated 12 years ago and could explain what I’ve been doing ever since (I was asked this during my pre-CAS interview). Study gap should not be a hindrance so long as you’ve not been idle/redundant. All you need to do is to have a good explanation in the event that you’re asked either by the university or during the credibility interview |

Capitalbase: Thanks a lot dear. Please could you guide me to do this so I can go ahead immediately?
Best Regards Alright. First call Wakanow or send them a DM on instagram. Tell them you’re a student (they’ll ask if you have proof as well) and that you need to book a one way flight to London on BA. The student fare will be cheaper than the usual. You can also ask them if they can book a connecting flight to Manchester for you as Manchester is your final destination. When you have both costs (LA-LHR and LHR-MAN), compare to the Qatar fare and decide if it’s worth paying. |

Capitalbase: Please house, kindly advise. I want to book flight and the cheapest on wakanow is Qatar airways @245k to Manchester but it's showing 30kg Luggage while others are on the high side with "2 bags" for Luggage. Please kindly help me clarify this as it is my first time and I do not want to shed "Premium Tears".
Best Regards If you really want to take advantage of the 2pcs luggage allowance, send a DM to Wakanow and book the BA flight to London. For my travel date, I paid N214,000. Then you can book a second flight from London to Manchester. Combined cost may be more than the Qatar fare but at least you’d have your 2pcs luggage allowance. Wakanow has “cheap” fares for students but I didn’t see the deals on their website. Contact them on phone or Instagram DM to take advantage. |

I have been seeing all these cheap fares but wasn't sure of it.. Also I usually prefer buying tickets from the airline website..but it looks like this time..I will patronise travel agents because their tickets for one way is by far cheaper!! You’re welcome. I know what you mean re booking flights directly with the airline. I saw a similar BA quote on Aeroland travels but I was skeptical and didn’t go ahead to book it with them. Then I saw it on Wakanow and I was like hmmm this can’t be a scam so my friend and I booked our flights immediately we confirmed it was legit |
