Yes i have received the Correspondence letter yesterday.

1..an SOWP holder can study for 6mth or less without study permit if more, study permit is require and cant be obtain while in canada..
2...an SOWP should be a able to get a job within a mth except you live in the village or you are being selective..
3... Don't worry about job issue, with your SOWP. job is not that difficult....
4... SOWP is different from Work Permit...an SOWP can still study and obtain Work Permit there after

Congratulations again to those who have received approval,for those of us still waiting we will hear good news by God's grace, it will be worth the wait.

I was hoping we could share ideas on helping our spouses settle down(i.e getting a job) when they arrive. I have heard that Canadian employers prefer to hire candidates who have a certificate(or work experience) from Canada I do not know how true this is. Perhaps the industry matters; People in the IT industry may not have this issue but maybe other fields like finance for example?

Another issue I want to bring up is the possibility of applying for a study permit should one's spouse decide to further their education if a job is not forthcoming soon enough? Is this possible considering that they migrated on the basis of a work permit? If they are able to obtain a study permit after arriving in Canada, what happens after the study? I think I read somewhere that work permit is only issued once, so does this mean they would have to return home after their study since they may be unable to secure another work permit? Or will the first one be disregarded since it was never really used?

I guess my "story" above boils down to one question "How easy has it been/is it for people who migrate to Canada on work permit to secure a job"?

I would appreciate the house's opinion on these issues possibly sharing of experiences too. Thanks

19/11/16: medical mail, there was a mix up as he already did upfront medical, VFS sent him a mail that his passport was ready for collection, we thought it was a refusal, but alas it was for him to go for medicals, he called the clinic and they had not sent his medical, so they sent it and gave him a copy of his e-medical which he attached to his passport and took back to VFS

9/12/16: tracked via vfs and said ready to pick

13/12/17: collected my visa at vfs Abuja, visa was approved on the 7/12/16

A friend's application for visiting visa to attend a conference scheduled for Nov 15-16, 2016 was refused for the sole reason that 'conference date has passed' I thought the Canadian embassy still approves visa even if visiting date has passed? Note, no other reason was ticked except 'conference date has passed' what shld this guy do at this point?

Nothing. Even if he's going to reapply, it should not be earlier than 6 mth.

Absolutely. Cos the office (Accra)that process online application attend to several types of visa application compare to paper (Lagos)...if you apply via paper and you need your passport, you can always withdraw your passport while application still in process.

I always had this feeling that paper application was faster than online because no embassy will like to hold your passport for more than 3 months.
I actually did paper application for my study permit and it was approved within 2 months. I've applied for my wife and she insisted it be done via online and since June till now we're yet to hear from CIC. I am really pissed with CIC.

Don't mind them...i had exactly same experience...i also went to US and re-apply 2days after i return with same documents,send them a very hot,clear letter addressing those points in GCMS notes... they will definitely issue the visa with in a month...it has work for 2 other family...

I have being following this topic for some time now but this is my first time of posting a comment. My family was recently denied a Canadian visa. Reasons for refusal is "purpose of travel and travel history". Following the advice on this forum, I applied for the GCMS note and got it today. Surprisingly, the GCMS note of 24 pages pdf file that contains more of their internal codes. The main point for refusal was not still clear as the VO simply stated that
"Based on a review of the application and supporting documents and after considering the purpose of travel, travel history, financial status (earnings/savings), family ties both in Canada and homeland and the overall establishment of the applicant, I am not satisfied that the applicant is sufficiently established so as to motivate a timely departure. Refused."

About my application: I work in a bank at a middle management level. These are some of the documents submitted

* Application form
* Old passport containing used visas to UK, Dubai, France
* Current passport with valid but yet to be used US visa (the plan is to combine the trip to US and Canada)
* Hotel booking using booking.com
* Flight booking
* Employment letter dated back to 2007
* Promotion letters
* Letter of introduction from my employer indicating leave period and leave entitlement of about N2.8m
* Medical Insurance ID Card from HMO.
* Lagos State Tax clearance card
* Pension fund statement from IBTC
* Life Assurance letter from IGI
* Education support insurance for my kids from Mutual Benefit Insurance
* Statement of investments for my kids
* Mortgage letter (I took a mortgage from my bank to buy a property in Lekki). All mortgage documents included.
* Documents for landed property in Ikorodu and Ajah
* 6 months payslip
* Photocopy of staff ID Card.
* Bank statement of salary account and investment accounts worth more than N6m
* Letter of introduction from my kids' school
* However, I did not include travel itinerary but stated places we wanted to visit in the SOP letter.

Honestly, I am surprised at their refusal because I have never been refused a visa before. One thing that is very clear from the GCMS note is that they share data with the US.

Just decided to share the story of my application. I hope to reapply again when I come back from the US.

you have a full right to report to the police...do this asap...preferably go to comm of police offc in GRA...

Hello, I am an ardent reader of Nairaland and I know I would get justice here. While on an endless wait for my TRV from the Canadian Embassy, I decided to take from my travel money to do some professional certification just to get busy. My dad advised me not to but I went ahead. I made enquiries online from New Horizon systems solution for the MTA exams. She replied my email with the exams fee. I paid cash of 110,000 to the account she provided. Fortunately for me as God would have it, I was granted my TRV that same day, I quickly went to New Horizon Office in Ikeja with my refund letter and the evidence of study abroad. I haven't filled their form neither have I captured. I explained that I need the funds to add to my ticket fare which dad refused to give me till now until I get the money back from New Horizon. I was assured that I would get my money back but it's 2 months now and I'm yet to get any refund. I have called severally, emailed severally. There is this particular staff that keeps lying to me everyday. She even teaches other staffs what to say which I hear underneath whenever I call them. They asked for my account number last week because I threatened to expose them on Nairaland. and they promised to pay but still nothing. One of their staffs promised me that I would be paid today, Monday. Only to be told that the signatory to the account is not in. There is a cover up within the office. Whenever I ask for the bosses' number, they always promise to send it which they don't. N110,000 is more than 300 Canada Dollars.
I have been put through a lot of psychological and emotional stress. I don't have another means of buying my flight ticket. The name of this staff is Gloria Akpan. She keeps lying through her nose. She has told different lies for 2 months. I have run out of patience. I really need my money back. They must have been doing it for a long time. They want to delay till I travel so that I would forget about the money. I would not annd I promise to expose this Gloria Akpan. She's unprofessional. Sometimes she yells at me and cuts the call. I would attach her picture and the screenshot of the text messages she sent when this gets to the front page. Please ignore my grammatical errors.

When they deny visa, I think they tick the reason (among the list of reasons for denial) in the refusal letter they give. In my case, there is nothing like that o. Wetin I do?

No be una wan go canada ? Seriously, you're not as upset as I am each time I read people's reactions in this forum on this issue. I've seen no difference between canada in terms of infrastructure, standard of living, security and what have you, when compared to what's obtainable in other western countries with much less visa processing times,except job opportunities and that was before because, canada is also in a technical recession right now and it's predicted by forbes to linger a few years more. You know what that means? High debt profile and massive Job cuts. I renewed my German visa recently and it took just 10 calendar days to process...and Germany is the largest economy in Europe. However, if we had a good government ,we'd have less reasons for visiting canada and other countries except it's compulsory. If you check the visa processing time on the CIC website, country by country, ours is about the longest, so sad . I once asked my south African friend why he's not visited US or Canada on vacation despite his buoyant financial status and he said everything in those counties are also available in their country....imagine! Try and check visa processing time of south Africa yourself, I'm sure you'd be more upset than you currently are, by the time you find out. Truth is always bitter to tell most times. Our generation must work hard to put this country in good, if not better shape because nobody will help us achieve this. Ask those on 6 digit salary in canada how far. They will give you epistles. It's not easy out there and that's why I always encourage friends out there to always look back and invest home. A few of us who took the bold step are happier today though there are challenges but surmountable. I wish you a positive outcome on your visa.

Ok. was the visa app submittd by you at VFS along your biometric process.. if NOT. don't bother going to d airport cos u wl b detained for be in possession of fake visa..

hello, a lot of my church folks are in same shoe..don't pay any lawyer free $...it wont change CIC decision...for the fact that you are a potential PR and she is included in ur PR application...just wait for ur PR, it cant be that long....

People come to this forum seeking for answer's they get answers from different sources it is left for them to filter and apply the ones they choose. Don't always be on the attacking side or could it be from the name you chose. Just my advise. Please kindly compare what they returned with this information on IRCC website: After the visa officer has assessed your application, your passport and other original documents will be returned to you. Please note that original bank statements are not returned. If you sent fraudulent documents, they will not be returned.

I don't want to believe it's because they believe documents are fraudulent that's why they took them. I like to believe that it's because it was addressed to them. You might need GCMS notes to get more details on your application.

sometimes consulars need stubborn applicant...i wld av prefer you hold on to the appeal ...if its taking too much time, all u av to do is to send them a comprehensive emotional letter.....cos the visiting visa applicatn might seems to them like you want to get in at all cost...let me share my case with u, i apply online to visit my wife and daughter and dey refuse me, i was mad cos reason was travel hist and econmy ties of which av bn all over d world except canada,china & australia..i reapply via paper apps with letter indirectly asking dem to aplgz to me as i was refused wrongly....my visa was issued in 3wks...they knw dat if you are in you av means of gettn a permit....hwever i wish you postv respons on ur apps ..

Well they will always come up with a reason. All the question she asked me i gave her answers. She just concluded...well I am not convinced enough u know your husband so well... I told her all the questions u asked me i answered. Feel free to ask more. That's not even my issue cos we have sent a notice of appeal and it's on going. My concern is the Visiting I put in since May 19th .till now no response.

Along the line it was taking son long and needed to see my husband so we decided to put in visiting visa thru online application (WE STATED THAT WE HAVE A SPOUSAL VISA ON GOING) . I was called for an interview in July 2016 and for no reason the lady I met refused me. It was devastating staying all alone without my husband. Anyway Hubby sent a notice of appeal and we are on that.
I read online that I can visit my husband while they continue with the spousal visa, (reason why we put in visiting visa in the first place). The Visiting Visa I put in was since May 19th 2016. Up till now I haven't heard from them. I sent a reminder to them they responded ""Your application is on queue for processing"" over a month ago. I sent them a reminder again 5days back till now no response. I pray miracle happens oh. I need to see my husband for heaven sake. Please I need your response. What should i do again? also please I don't mind if you can direct me to a thread for CANADA spousal visa on NL if there's any. Bless u people of God.

Hello, your wife can't cope studying with 3kids except you or one of u guys grandma will follow her...even with 1 that i av is not easy..ur kids above 5yrs attend public schl for free...has she gotten her visa already? Cos its difficult for a vo to grant visa with such case....

The oldest of my children is 6 but the challenge here is that the school fees for early and primary years is as high as the diploma program in Ontario. Each applicant should write their own authority letter for pick up...however the mail got was it for 3 of you or just yours? Did you use your email for the 3 applications?

My case goes thus;

My dad is the sponsor, and he is sponsoring 6 of us out of which 3 of my brothers were dropped because of their age(they have passed the age of dependent child) remaining 3 of us. Out of the 3 of us that's remaining, I am the eldest, but about 3 months ago, i got a mail from accra requesting the Passports n photos of two of us (myself and my younger brother) but I didnt get passport request for my youngest bro (age 17yrs), but when I sent the passports and photos, I sent for the 3 of us(including my youngest bro' s passport dt i didnt get his own passport request). Now just about 2 weeks ago I got a mail stating d readiness of our document and dt i should make arrangement for pick up which i authorized dhl to do so on our behalf. But when i wrote the authorization letter(authorization letter is the letter that dhl will show them at accra embassy dt I indeed sent them to pick up my trvs), I included the names of 3 of us, uci n application numbers in the letter. But just 2days ago when DHL came back to deliver our parcel, they brought just only one trv docs, which is my own, I didn't get the passports and documents for my younger and youngest bros

Now my questions:

-What can I do to get the remaining 2 passports n documents

-must the authority letter be signed by each of us and sent separately(i sent only one which i included all our names uci n app no.)

- should I mail the emmbassy at accra and wait for their reply or i should just send DHL again this time with separate authority letters signed by the 2 of them?

N.B: I AM THE ONLY ONE ACCRA EMBASSY COMMUNICATE WITH AMONG US.

Nigeria is a country to toil with nah....that's why they will take passports for 17 weeks and bounce people for no just reason.

Has anyone been to VFs recently someone I know said she went to pick up her passport and the place was so scanty you could count the people in the Canadian application center. How true is what she said?
