Banks in Nigeria are one of the SHITTIEST institutions in Nigeria. Their physical services are rife with INEFFICIENCIES and you'd OFTEN have to deal with incompetent or passive-aggressive customer reps.

Their ONLINE services are even WORSE. A bank's MAJOR app would go offline for several hours and they would NOT even bother to let you know.

A week has not gone by that I've not received some kind of "we are working on it" message from Sterling Bank.

Banks in other countries make a major part of their revenue from making consumer CREDIT available to customers. They make it SUPER easy for people to get credit facilities by making credit cards available to customers.

There are people who have worked in Nigerian banks for DECADES that don't know something like credit cards exist.

Unless you are a BILLIONAIRE, getting access to credit facilities from Nigerian banks would require you to twist and turn and jump through INSANE hoops.

And then there are the CHARGES. Oh the charges!

You want to send money? Charges!
You want to receive money? Charges!
You have an ATM/Debit card? Charges!
You did NOT do anything with the account? It's just there? Here are some MORE charges!

I once got charged ATM card maintenance fees when I did NOT even have an ATM card linked to that account.

The ONLY reason Nigerian banks keep making INSANE money is bevause of the disorganised and CORRUPT system in Nigeria that let them scam customers.

The first hospital we went to, it is a private hospital, and it is being operated by a white man. The issue is that he does all kinds of surgery, both removing fibroid, caesarian operation and different kinds of surgery, now he has claimed that he can also operate on umbilical hernia and repair it. My question now is can a single doctor know how to do all these kind of surgery, I thought he will specialize in a particular part of the body.

She also went to another private hospital, the doctor examined her and billed her, and told her that he will not be the one to do the surgery, rather, he will consult a specialist from FMC. To do the surgery.

The issue here now is which of these two will she go to, is it for the white man that claims to do all manner of surgery himself or to the doctor the said he will consult a specialist from FMC to do the surgery.

First of all, the white man sounds like a GENERAL SURGEON. If that's the case, then it's totally notmal for him to perform a VARIETY of surgery.

Most type of surgeries are performed by this kind of surgeons. But heart, dental and brain surgery requires their own SPECIALISTS surgeons.

So it's totally normal for the white Doctor to do various surgeries.

That said, I cannot think of a SINGLE reason why a competent surgeon would want to practise in Nigeria. They get ASTRONOMICALLY better pay and facilities abroad. That's why Niverian medical practioners run to them.

Only reasons I can think of is CHARITY like Doctors Without Borders or MISSIONARY sent by a religious organisation.

Plus, is he the only Doctor in the hospital?

It is a private hospital. Is it advisable to go to a private hospital or to a public hospital.

A University Teaching Hospital is the best option for most surgeries. They tend to have the MOST specialist.

I'd go there if that's an option available to you.

That said, private hospitals do have grade. And they tend to move faster than public ones. But the prospect of being operated on by people who are PRIMARILY motivated by profit rubs me the wrong way.
