The Pan Niger Delta Forum has cautioned proponents of the Biafra Republic against including communities in the Niger Delta or South-South geopolitical zone in their secessionist agenda. PANDEF issued the warning in a statement released in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, signed by its National Youth Leader, Donben Donyegha, and sent to journalists. The apex socio-political body of the Niger Delta distanced itself from the Biafra agitation, emphasising its commitment to a united Nigeria built on equality and justice for all citizens. “We therefore warn that the continued inclusion of PANDEF areas or communities into the so-called Biafra Republic is provocative and tantamount to an insult to the leaders of the Niger Delta region,” the statement read. Donyegha stressed that the youths of the Niger Delta would resist any attempt to incorporate the region into the secessionist agenda. “Any further attempt to disregard or belittle our leaders with provocative publications or pronouncements about the Biafra Republic, including Niger Delta towns or territories, will meet strong resistance from us, the youths. “They are hereby warned to desist from it. The Niger Delta is not Biafra. PANDEF believes in a united Nigeria where no citizen is treated as second-class,” he added. The forum reiterated its vision of a Nigeria where subnational entities control their resources and remit taxes to the federal government for essential services, including homeland security, territorial integrity, and international diplomacy. “We strongly believe that Nigeria can only achieve her potential through these principles. PANDEF remains committed to engaging both federal and state governments to ensure the vision of our founding fathers is realised,” Donyegha stated. Highlighting the region’s historical stance, he noted that while the 1964 Constitution provided a framework for true federalism, subsequent military coups and the 1999 Constitution represented a departure from those ideals. The forum also praised its National Chairman, Ambassador Godknows Igali, describing him as an intellectual of international repute, underscoring PANDEF’s credibility and dedication to its cause. In conclusion, PANDEF called on Nigerians and the international community to recognise and respect the Niger Delta’s stance against being included in any secessionist agenda. “We believe this caution and warning will serve as a wake-up call to agitators, whether within Nigeria or abroad, to act responsibly and refrain from provocative actions and behaviours,” the statement added. https://punchng.com/ndelta-not-part-of-biafra-pandef-warns-secessionists/ |
Dele Farotimi has enough evidence. The cases cited are cases which involved Dele Farotimi in person and he had always waited for this to happen. Afe Babalola just fell into a trap. |

The former chairman of the Bank of China, Liu Liange, was on Tuesday sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve for corruption and illegal issuance of loans. He was found to have accepted bribes worth over 121 million yuan ( $16.8 million), a court in Jinan city in China's eastern Shandong Province said in its verdict. Liu was deprived of political rights for life, all of his personal property will be confiscated, and all his illegal gains must be recovered and turned over to the state treasury, the court sentence read, state-run Xinhua news agency reported. The court found that Liu had taken advantage of his various positions at the Export-Import Bank of China and Bank of China, respectively, to assist others in matters such as loan financing, project cooperation and personnel arrangements -- while illegally accepting bribes in return. Moreover, he was found to have knowingly facilitated the issuance of loans totalling more than 3.32 billion yuan to unqualified companies in violation of legal rules, resulting in a principal loss of over 190.7 million yuan (about $ 27 million), the court said. Liu was the second prominent Chinese banker to have been punished for corruption. On November 20, China's ruling Communist Party expelled Lou Wenlong, a former vice president of the Agricultural Bank of China, from the party for corruption. Lou was found to have deliberately resisted the investigation of his case and violated the Party's frugality code by attending banquets that were paid for using public funds or that may influence the fair execution of official duties, the statement said. Also on Tuesday, a public prosecution was initiated against Wang Yixin, former vice governor of Heilongjiang Province in northeast China, for allegedly accepting bribes. The Heze Municipal People's Procuratorate in China's eastern Shandong Province filed the case with the city's intermediate court following an investigation by the National Commission of Supervision. Prosecutors allege that Wang abused his positions in Hainan and Shanxi provinces to secure benefits for others in exchange for bribes described as "extremely large," Xinhua reported. Since he came to power in 2012, Chinese President Xi Jinping has carried out a massive anti-corruption campaign in which over a million officials, including two former Defence Ministers and dozens of top military officers, were punished. https://www.business-standard.com/world-news/former-bank-of-china-chairman-sentenced-to-death-on-corruption-charges-124112601316_1.html https://www.reuters.com/world/china/former-bank-china-chairman-gets-suspended-death-sentence-bribery-state-media-2024-11-26/ |
Kukutente23:Same ancestral origin. 'Yoruba' is a relatively more recent identity adopted by some of the people from the same origin. There are many 'tribes' or groups who may not be called 'Yoruba' today, but are of the same ancestry. |

Fumigate your house and environment. Keep your mattress under the hot sun also. It appears you develop hypersensitivity reaction (Type1) following bites from bed bugs or mites. Whenever you get such reaction (wheals +/- pruritus) go to a clinic for evaluation and treatment. Another common cause of this reaction is ingestion of food items to which certain individuals may be hypersensitive. |
RealLordZeus:You can imagine the effect this would have on the already high unemployment rate and low productivity. I've always maintained the average Nigerian needs a mind/orientation reset. |

I'm yet to see any worthwhile investor who would take risks based solely on lies. Besides, multiple investors come into the Country at various times to make assessments; see things first hand. Rather than bother those who speak the obvious truth, the so-called leaders (and followers, if useful) should focus on basic things: insecurity, poor infrastructure, wanton corruption. |

Most Generals and senior officers I know abhor such behaviour. The so-called general in that video is a huge disappointment. Disciplinary measures should be taken. |

Well, indiscipline on the part of some members of his congregation. He even requested phones be set aside earlier. You can imagine such indiscipline inside the church where the individual(s) may be seeking 'unwarranted favours'. These are the same set of people who would for whatever reason refuse to join queues in the mall, fuel station, disobey traffic laws, etc, but expect their leaders to sacrifice for them. Some even carry their kids along while acting irresponsibly. The average Nigerian needs thorough reorientation. Your phone should be mute/silent when in places of worship, lectures, meetings, when you visit official/office spaces. This separates the enlightened/cultured individual from the average mediocre! |
Mille:True. In addition, historically, the major Kingdoms in what is called 'Yoruba Land' today were the five listed: Oyo, Benin, Ife, Ijebu, Egba. |

Bobloco:All that had been done during Obaseki's administration. It would be a waste of scarce resources to re-embark on such exercise. For reasons best known to Obaseki, actual work on ground had not commenced before the end of his administration. |
