Politics / Re: Simon Ekpa SHOULD NOT Add Edo State To Biafra by NaMe4: 8:30pm On Nov 26, 2023 |
Brek: The Midwest was neutral to fault! Even the Nigerian army hesitated deploying amory to the Midwest (4th Brigade) for self/territorial defence; Ojukwu and certain Igbos resident in the Midwest took advantage of this and betrayed the people of the Midwest. Invaded, killed, incarcerated unarmed people. People who were sympathetic to the ordeal of the Igbos and actively mediated for peace. The whole siege only lasted for 2 weeks, during which resistance by the Edos began and delayed the biafran invaders from proceeding further to the West before Nigerian troops led by Murtala Moh'd and Ogbemudia arrived and began a sweep almost unchallenged. The Nigerian troops proceeded to Asaba where many of the biafran soldiers had already cowardly removed their uniforms and infiltrated the communities in order to hide. This was where the 'Asaba massacre' happened. |

Politics / Re: Protest Breaks Out In Kano Over Judgement That Sacked Governor Yusuf by NaMe4: 9:56pm On Nov 22, 2023 |
This is a result of the bad precedence set when Ahmed Lawan and Akpabio were given stolen senatorial mandates despite purchasing presidential forms and participating in the party presidential primaries (clearly against the electoral act and aided by the judiciary). |

Politics / Re: It Will Never Be Well With SS Politicians by NaMe4: 10:30pm On Nov 21, 2023 |
MEEVEET: You need to visit other states eg Northern States who don't receive such allocations and see the level of development. A lot of our SS brothers have established themselves in such states, or gainfully employed and are reluctant to return to their home states. I've mentioned it severally, most SS leaders and politicians are the epitome of greedy, selfish, insincere and foolish humans, but think they are too wise. You can imagine in oil-producing states, the citizens would seek various avenues to continuously BEG the governor to fix the state roads in order to leave their homes and be productive, and also reduce the rate of deaths due to the state of the roads. Unemployment? I've never seen such rate in my life; that's why these areas are home to various vices such as yahoo, cultism, etc. Apart from Rivers, probably Cross River and Akwa Ibom, the rest na apology, especially Delta and Bayelsa with their relatively large allocations. 1 Like |
Properties / Re: Promise Land Company Accused Of Landgrabbing In Abuja As Victims Raise Alarm by NaMe4: 10:09am On Nov 20, 2023 |
DonFreshmoney: I can just imagine. It would be probably worse today. I bought multiple lands from a company in Kugbo about 9 years ago, and I travelled a lot during that period and had them assist in processing the Cof O. Only to find out the largest amongst the lands had multiple potential owners: Myself, a director at FCDA, a business woman in Switzerland, and some other person. If you want to buy lands in Abuja, ensure you carry out due diligence, best if you are around in person. If you want to buy from estates, ensure it's an already developed estate. If you have cash to buy in choice areas, buy from previous owners after thorough search/verification. 2 Likes |

Jorussia: I wonder who dey present that guy. Only comes out during election cycles for transactions. Edo Central has many illustrious sons and daughters with proven track records, who have made impact in development and welfare of the people, even in their private capacity. Just a few include: Monday Okpebholo, John Yakubu, Prof Osunbor. Makamatic: Yes, also David Imuse, Dorry Okojie. |

seeme2: Once you see anyone claiming to be from Edo attacking the Yoruba/Omoluabi Culture, I can assure you, such person is not from Edo, but an impostor, usually in a faceless forum. We Edos take Pride in preserving our culture (even though ours is under attack too), and respecting those of others not to talk of those we have close ties with. 5 Likes 1 Share |
Politics / Re: Driver Surrenders To Police After Crushing LAWMA Officials To Death by NaMe4: 3:18am On Nov 15, 2023 |
ceasare: There may be a flaw in this approach; what if the car is sold (transferred) to someone else before the next renewal or someone other than the owner drove the car the day the offence was committed? What if the last renewal was within the week the offence was committed? The approach of capturing data of offenders works when there is an effective data system in place. For instance, linking the vehicle info to an existing NIN, BVN, TIN, etc and rendering these other instruments useless once an 'offender' evades law enforcers. Also, effective surveillance systems must be in place to monitor activities of the law enforcers, as notably in many parts of Southern Nigeria, a lot of charlatans seem to be recruited into these agencies. |

Terrible! In Benin City, there has been a rise in unruly behaviour by commercial drivers; not obeying traffic lights, driving one-way, etc with EDSTMA personnel just looking away. These same people will complain about their leaders, but do the most despicable thing the next minute or whenever they have an opportunity. Comedian2019: This practice has become even more common since the increase in fuel price. Very disgusting and selfish, putting the lives of others at risk in a bid to 'cut cost'. Meanwhile, taking the next U-turn will not consume 1/2 litre of fuel. 1 Like |
Politics / Re: All Imo Flights Blacklisted Nationwide Over Attack On NLC President by NaMe4: 8:03am On Nov 09, 2023 |
The Labour leader had to be beaten up first to activate. There was a widely anticipated nationwide strike some time ago regarding the economic and standard of living state in the country which he and his cronies compromised. After he collect decking, he want make everybody commot. Oya na! I only see the 'commonman' in the State suffering in all these. 14 Likes 1 Share |
Politics / Re: Alaghodaro Has Provided Platform To Chart Path For Edo’s Growth, Devt In 7 Years by NaMe4: 7:31am On Nov 09, 2023 |
Claire2023: Someone who hasn't been to Edo State would think what you listed are some significant projects which would impact lives of the average Edolites. In many other States, those roads listed up there are projects executed to even better standards by Local government councils. Despite these road projects being very limited and restricted to the capital, leaving the Central and the North in an abysmal state, they are of bad quality. For instance, there is a clear difference between the section of the Irhirhi road where Oshiomhole stopped and the section Obaseki continued with. Or is it the Ugbor Central/Amagba road that has broken down? There are clear advantages of properly constructed dualised roads especially within capital cities which States with serious leadership have embarked upon over the the past decade. Can we point to one in Edo State built in the past 8 years? How come majority of Edolites within the capital city complain of poor basic infrastructure everyday? How does Alaghodaro impact the average youth in Edo? Is the Edo Civil service space so small it can't engage its graduates/ even experienced professionals? Most of our graduates have to leave the State to make any sense of themselves. I always wondered until I came to Edo, and it's a failure in leadership. I'm not going to dwell on the prevalence of certain vices which are direct consequence of these failures. I will always appreciate my Edo people who through individual/private capacity have contributed, almost in entirety, to the level of development attained in the State so far. Policy making is nothing if there would be improper implementation & monitoring and direct beneficiaries would be a few individuals rather than the general populace. 1 Like |
