Hep C? Then she said that 1 Dr. Maduka had prescribed drugs for me which I have been taking, I told them NO that I had been discharged days back but I stayed back because of my baby.
That was when I asked them to go back and carefully check my file again. She didn't want to at first but after much, she did and then saw the result from Synlab and immediately notified the Dr. Maduka.
At that point, they knew they had done wrong and so quickly they apologized and discharged us. By that time I could hardly walk properly because the stitches was becoming too painful but most importantly, i was going home with my world, my bundle of joy.
At home, I could barely move and then i went back to the hospital.
That Monday, I met another doctor on duty and narrated my story to him, he looked at it and said he has to loosen it. He loosened it and asked me to go and come back on Friday for re-stitching and I should do sitz bath 3-4 times a day because they were all busy that night. And I quote him; my dear but if you want me to care for it personally, I would but at a cost otherwise you could come back and the same mistake may repeat.
I left and got back on Friday, after much turn-turn another doctor attended to me and said they were all busy but he could do it for me at a cost, if I agree, I should return the following day at 7am.
At 7am on Saturday, I was there and he did it at a cost. Since then, it has been from one pain to another.

Truth is amidst this Corona Virus saga, if we have a working system and a near-standard health system then not many people will complain of a failed system.
This is just a bit of my story, no intent whatsoever to spite the government but a little bit of my voice and yours can save a first time mom tomorrow, I survived it doesn't mean the next person may, I was lucky to have a good Doctor like Doctor IJ by my side (someone i have never met in my entire life) does not mean the next mom will have but when moms comes out to share their story both good and bad then our voices will be heard.
I may not have the right resource to reach out to young and 1st time mothers all over Nigeria right now, but a little bit of my story (not contained within is the standard of healthy living or toilet) will save a mother tomorrow.
Share your story! Save a life!!
HealthRe: Childbirth by nana06: 10:30pm On Apr 06, 2020
I know this thread is over 3 years now regardless, I would still share my story here hoping that one day, our medical system will be fixed.
It started at first during my ante-natal at Federal Staff Hospital in Abuja, I did all the necessary tests in a different clinic before going to Federal Staff and Hep C came out Negative. I didn't want to use the general hospitals because of stories such as yours.
When I did the same sets of test at the Hospital, Hep A and B showed negative while Hep. C and VDRL came positive.
I took the result from the Federal staff and that I did at the other clinic and showed them, the Doctors said all they can do is prescribe me some antibiotics for me. I refused and told them I didnt have it and so on my next visit, one of their Doctors then recommended I go to SynLab at Wuse 2 and re-run the same tests because that is the only lab they can trust.
My people, I went there and did the test though expensive but the result was all that mattered and behold it came out negative.
I went back to Federal staff at Jabi (FMC) and showed the doctor who kinda apologized and guessed it maybe a mix up in the Lab.
I was due for March 31st but on March 5th at 10pm, labour started, my husband, my mom, my aunty and brother went with me to the hospital and there the misery began.
The doctor who started attending to me checked and said i was 4cm then immediately called a female doctor to come and check because he may not be too sure. She came and confirmed it 4cm. PS: During Antenal (ANC) we were never educated as first time moms about the care of the baby (except for jaundice) and ourselves, they kept reminding us to pay the 50,000NGN delivery fee (that was their priority).
When they agreed I was 4cm, I was taken to the labour ward and left there without care meanwhile a lady beside me was already screaming that her baby's head was almost out and they all kept quiet and were sleeping outside like we are not humans, when babies were born, no tags on the babies - story for another day.
At 6.43am, i had my baby after I started calling everyone I could from the Labour ward (LW) on phone and my mom was already making some serious noise that was when a nurse came in and said I was not permitted to enter the LW with my phone and she also wants to insert her fingers and check the cm (that's after so many hands has checked, you how how u check/scatter your wardrobe when looking for something really tiny . Angrily, i told her i was going to give her a dirty slap if she touches my fone or inserts her fingers in me. Just then a nice nurse came and looked at me, asked a few questions and said it was time.
My bundle of joy came out, I was conscious and quickly monitored my baby even though they didnt give him to me.
After about 3mins, he stopped crying and the nurse said he had breathing problem and put up oxygen on him then sent for a paediatrician who came and said the oxygen can was empty however, he went through my file carelessly and said d baby has infection and then they carried my baby outside to my mom from there they went up stairs to the Special baby care unit.
While all this was going on, i was lying down helplessly then the nurse told a doctor that she gave me a tiny cut.
The doctor looked at it and started complaining and finally said my people have to pay 5K before he starts. My husband did and gave them the evidence of payment and then the whole thing went from Misery to near death.
The doctor started stitching me up without any pain killer that moment I cried out my being, I regretted ever being a Nigerian. After about 5minutes of stitching and complaining, a female Doctor saw the pain I was in and asked the male doctor (lets call him Ade) to let her do it if he was going to continue without pain killers and complains.
The Doctor truly left me. The female Doctor (lets say IJ) gave me 2 10ml of pain killers but the pain was killing then she gave me another 2 10mls. When she was almost finished with what Ade had started, she realized I was bleeding inside and so she had to start a different stitching inside and she explained to me that she has to do it to prevent internal bleeding.
While she was at it, I guessed the injury she has on her fingers was beginning to hurt her so she called their chief to help her out.
The chief came and continued but guess what, IJ didn't leave my side she held my hand and kept telling me to stay strong, that it will soon be over, I should think of my baby and some other stories.
At 11am they finished and the nurses came to clean me up and told me to always pour hot water in a deep bucket and sit on it so the vapour will help heal.
While I was being wheeled out, I then asked of my baby. Lo and Behold they gave me another woman's baby, it was until I was out of the LW that my mom asked whose baby the nurse carried and following me then I said mine. Then my mom started screaming at them eventually people around also started screaming and quarreling over such display after much that was settled also, they refused to release the placenta to us. After much quarrel, they finally did.
That I kept doing and these guys kept us in the hospital for over a week that they were treating my baby. At first, I was told sugar level later dehydration. We kept buying drugs upon drugs on the 6th day, my mom and I went to them to know why they were keeping us that long then they said the baby had infection.
Infection? From where?
They said it's from the Hep C result.

MelesZenawi:
Tradition is not run on emotion but on merit.
Kindly explain how badmouthing a woman who invested her all in raising a child d man abandoned for years is merit?
If Ngozi had ignored the lady at the time the father left them and the lady turned out a prostitute, kidnapper and all sort of societal menace, will the tradition allow the man to be proud or welcome home the lady as his beloved daughter? The same tradition will give the man reasons and right to abuse, deny the lady and call her all kind of names like a fruit does not fall far from its tree..
Truth is most of y'all dont know tradition aside what you see in Naija movies plus the court comes before tradition except a settlement is reached outside the court and the final agreement taken by back to the court.
If Kings can be sacked by courts, what are we talking about?

The man is right

Ngozi Ezeonu is good in movie tradition but a mess in reality.

She has no right whatsoever to give the daughter in marriage without the man's consent.

No wonder she married her off to a Yoruba man...

That says it all..

A real man will ask questions before going ahead on marriage..

More the girl married to her fellow si.....ssy.
U were absent in your child's upbringing, tradition didnt allow u to raise her or care for her at the peak of her life and from no where tradition has given you the right to take charge of the lady's lifee whilst trying to bad mouth the woman and all she has put in to raise a child.
As for u supporting the man, may God never allow ur daughter find herself in such situation.

Hey bro can u pls explain y u said youre sorry 4 him 4 studying computer science? No offence
The problem is that people don't understand where and how far a degree in Computer science can take you.. These guys are literally taking over all fields from medicine to Engineering, law and management...
People don't ask questions, they just earn these degrees and sit at home or settle for less....
I studied an engineering course, topped my class and sometimes struggle to get grants and sponsorships even till now because most of them needs researchers with plenty experience..
If I knew what I know now back then, I won't waste 5 years studying Engineering...NEVER... But I also know God's plans 4 me will give me that expected end!
People should learn to ask questions more than criticize!
Someone who studied CS can work in a neuroscience lab, another in an oil company, banking sector, law; name it they are everywhere..
In my opinion the best courses are Computer science and biological courses.

Computer science is a waste of time. You don't have to be a computer science graduate to practice in that field. You simply need the knowledge and if really want to be grounded in the field, you are definitely not learning that within the four walls of the classroom. The rest is mathematics.
You have spoken as far as your eyes can see!

FamilyRe: I Impregnated A Pastor's Daughter, We Rushed The Wedding by nana06: 11:50am On Nov 12, 2019
Hi TJ...
Maybe I think differently or I have chosen to see it from a different angle.
But I think for now, what you need is give yourself a break from the world, anything women, friends, family and even social media, say 21days or a month..
You really need to think about you, what you really want and also the kind of future you want for your little you(baby) 'coz whatever decision you make will determine the future of your baby...
I remember my 1st day at ante-natal, when a particular male nurse was to address us, guess what his 1st statement was??
He said "Pregnancies in Africa are usually as a result of mistakes" then I whispered to the lady beside me "even us too way don marry"? The man replied "auntie tell us say u been no get other plans"?
Truth is you really need a time alone and just ur baby's picture on your phone to think!!!
No responsible woman "married by mistake or not" wants a broken home all 4 d sake of their children and truth is you connected with the 2nd lady bcoz somewhere in your subconscious, there's a class segregation between u and ur wife, u feel she's a burden and marrying her may not give you that marriage fantasy but then, the bad news is if this 2nd lady could be this dramatic to the extent of not considering the little baby b4 putting up the fake IG, what would happen when you guys are married and u cheat on her( a trait which I think you "may" have 'coz u easily moved) she would burn down the entire house, kill you and kill herself or everyday her village people will come and settle issues b/w u guys...
U see, while you may consider my advice to think about yourself, also consider if you take your time to teach the momma of your baby so many things you know if she is willing to learn and measure up?
Marriage is a constant work in progress, there are too many things to say but the most important thing I want you to know is that you should try everything within your powers to avoid toxic partners, they don't forgive and they are good at paybacks no matter how much you try to apologize. Along the course of marriage love fails but sacrifice keeps it going till the love is built again...
I wish you stay around Abuja, i would have loved to meet you so I take u to meet with people who had similar situations and what their decisions led to.
However, I wish you and your little you (baby) the best in life.
Foreign AffairsRe: South Africans Beg Nigerians For Forgiveness (Video) by nana06: 6:08pm On Sep 15, 2019
Saying and chanting peace songs can never ever be tantamount to the pain and tears of other blacks scattered all over Africa..
There's always room for peace but how I wish they (SA Nationals) would just be left alone in their country with the whites, only then will they know the importance of their fellow blacks.
You can't chant peace and forgiveness where xenophobia occurs almost every 2 years and nothing has been done to put the perpetrators of this act to order.
When the indigenes are hungry and broke from the previous xenophobia, the start a fresh one and when their stores are stuffed, they beg for forgiveness.

Means females generally presents more arguments...
So in this case, when it seems like a imbalance, that part comes out...

For propaganda, everyone is busy saying this is applicable and that is not applicable like they are part of the PTDF team, thus creating tension...
So, bottom line even to you asking about every full stop, if u r yet to be interviewed, study your proposal and the "female thing" Ur mouth and what you say is your power... Nothing else, except of course you hold a different interpretation

What I'll share is based on MY experience.

So, at the interview last year, I was asked for any awards. I told the man I didn't have any because on the site last year the awards section was labeled "National Awards" . He now asked me if I had never won or was awarded anything during NYSC? I said no. He asked if I ever won any scholarships in university or something that distinguished me from others, he even asked if I had been awarded anything in my secondary school.

I had thought awards must be on a national scale. The ones I had were stuff I won in secondary school but I didn't have them at the interview. I'm sure he would have accepted them if had presented them.

The takeaway is this: Take along any document that certifies an academic achievement or merit award or anything you were given as a prize or something for an achievement (carry the leadership awards too). It's for them to say they won't accept it rather than not taking it along it and it turns out they'd have accepted it.

Just like scarplanet said with regards to publications, carry all your articles/publications too. You may not know which they'll accept or reject.

Bottom line, take anything you believe will advance your cause. I think I'm rambling but I hope you get what I'm driving at.

Cheers.
God bless you dear
