Politics / Re: Shi’ite Islamic Group Procession After Boko Haram Attacked Their Member (Pics) by naruto02(m): 3:46pm On Dec 01, 2015
This Shi'ite group is lead by zakzaky he graduated 1st class in economics from Abu Zaria. Normally they have this thing they do once in a year where his followers trek from where ever to his place at Zaria. Last year something happened where soldiers shot all 4 of his sons killing 3 of them... All of which are studying medicine and engineering courses abroad. Nothing was done he said he wouldn't want to react in anyway because it would lead to exactly what created boko haram, the government said it would investigate and I'm sure that was all. Now the boko haram you know said they are Muslims but their target is mosques, top Islamic clerics (they killed Albani Zaria sheikh jafar) all who were denouncing boko haram's crime. Any Islamic gathering they are always ready to go and shed blood. I'm totally confused what's their aim is. At times I do wonder if really there'll be peace in this world once again but I don't see that coming. Part of being a complete Muslim is believing in all prophets including prophet Isa (Jesus) which in Islamic scriptures is not dead but ascended to heaven and will come back to earth again, to lead people to the straight part and battle the anti-Christ (Dajjal) which I don't wish to be in this world at that time because of anti-Christ atrocities. Maybe then all these terrorist claiming to be doing the right thing might be corrected and war will end.

Crime / Saudi Arabia Is Preparing To Behead And Crucify A 21year Old Activist by naruto02(m): 5:34pm On Oct 26, 2015
[img][/img]
A young Saudi Arabian Shi’a activist, who was sentenced to death last year, has lost his final appeal for justice and is due to be executed by beheading, followed by the mounting of his headless body onto a crucifix for public viewing.
Human rights groups and Saudi critics are appalled by both the nature of the execution and the flimsy case against Ali Mohammed al-Nimr, though neither of these factors are unusual in today’s Saudi Arabia.
Al-Nimr was arrested in 2012, at age 17, in the predominantly Shia province of Qatif, and accused of participating in anti-government protests and possessing illegal firearms. He has repeatedly denied the latter charge, although he was reportedly tortured into confessing the offenses after his arrest. According to Amnesty International, al-Nimr spent a short time in a juvenile detention facility before being transferred to prison when he turned 18, and was sentenced to death in 2014.

Al-Nimr was likely targeted because he is the nephew of Sheikh Nimr Baqir al-Nimra, a prominent Shi’a cleric who was also sentenced to death in 2014. Al-Nimr’s father is also a political activist.
“Ali was a vulnerable child when he was arrested and this ordeal began,” said Maya Foa of the legal charity Reprieve, in a statement. “His execution—based apparently on the authorities’ dislike for his uncle, and his involvement in anti-government protests—would violate international law and the most basic standards of decency. It must be stopped.”
US talk show host Bill Maher raised al-Nimr’s situation on television a few days ago, encouraging viewers to stop fretting about the American Muslim who was arrested for bringing a clock to school and instead show some concern for the Saudi who’s going to be crucified for attending a protest. “If you haven’t used up all your heroism hashtagging for the clock kid, maybe do it for this guy,” Maher said.
If you haven't used up all your heroism on the clock kid, try hashtagging #AliMohammedAlNimr http:///yVRNgkNdNz
— Bill Maher (@billmaher) September 19, 2015
Al-Nimr’s imminent execution is drawing massive opposition to the United Nations’ recent appointment of the Saudi ambassador to lead an influential human rights panel—a decision that critics called “scandalous.”
Despite its awful record, Saudi Arabia is somehow named to UN rights council leadership post. http:///QwICWlLr0p pic.twitter.com/zfZykab55o

Hello great medics...
I completed my Ijmb program this year (feb)... After the program I haven't been reading much because I needed a long rest from the stress. I also reg for jamb 2015 so a month to the exam date I had to pick up d reading habit but it wasn't as intense as d time when I was doing my Ijmb. After jamb I stopped reading totally because the Uni I applied for isn't going to call for post ume this year... I know I'm doing harm to my brain for not reading for such a long time, when ever I take a book to read I just drop it after reading a page or 2.... I really need advice on stuffs to be reading so that at least by the grace of God if I'm offered admission to study mbbs the 1st year work load won't be much for me.... P.S I'm conversant with the A-level phy, chem, bio
Education / President Buhari Ready To End Bsc, Hnd Dichotomy -jamb Registrar by naruto02(m): 1:57pm On Aug 02, 2015
Strong indication has emerged that President Muhammadu Buhari is willing to implement the waver that will end the Bsc and HND dichotomy. It was however gathered that HND will now be changed to Btech which means Bachelor of Technology.

This assertion was made know by the Registrar/Chief Executive of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, (JAMB), Prof. Dibu Ojerinde.

Buhari received the updated report on the Bsc and HND saga which was presented by the Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Education, MacJohn Nwaobiala last Tuesday.

Ojerinde who was part of the delegation said Buhari is willing to end the dichotomy.

He disclosed this in Abuja when he spoke with few selected newsmen on how to solve the lingering crisis of admission into universities.

The JAMB boss revealed that: “The last administration set up a committee to look at how we can now merge the two, the report was ready but it was not handled by the last administration.”

His words: “The system has not given adequate vision for the other levels of education. We have not encouraged technical education, we have not encouraged Teachers education also, in fact we have not encouraged Agricultural education to the extent that everybody feels that the only way to survive is to go to the University.

“The only way to make it is to have a degree, so I am saying we should revisit our system, we should look at why candidates don’t want to go to polytechnics, and we should look at why they don’t want teachers’ education we should also revisit why they don’t want agriculture.

“By our experience, most people will like to study law, engineering, medicine, accountancy, these are the top courses been sought for in the universities nobody wants to study education. So I see we have problem in that area and I am sure the Federal Ministry of Education is trying to solve that problem.

“First of all Technical Education, there’s dichotomy between Bachelors degree and National Diploma or Higher National Diploma, (HND). It was one of the things presented to Mr. President to find a way of implementing the waver of the dichotomy between HND and the Bsc degree. The so called HND should now be changed to Btech which means Bachelor of Technology.

“Former President Musa Yar’Adua may his soul rest in peace, said he doesn’t have any problem with Btech. Unfortunately, government also has not sorted this entire problem. And there are such cases of people like me in this country, I wouldn’t have been able to read, I wouldn’t have been able to go to school. So what I am saying is, government should look at how we can improve technical education.

“Let me refer to what Oby Ezekwensili the former Minister of Education said, she was determined to implement Btech in our Technical System, college of Education. All this places should be well equipped for Btech.

“Four colleges of Education have been upgraded to universities of Education, you will see the rush into those universities now because they can now get bachelor’s degree. And when they come to the public they will not be a push away. So this is where we are, I think if I go by what we saw on Wednesday, President Buhari and the Vice President listened and they were interested in what we presented.”
Culture / US: We’ll Compel Nigeria To Accept Same-sex Marriage by naruto02(m): 1:56am On Jul 15, 2015
As President Muhammadu Buhari prepares to meet with his United States counterpart, Barack Obama, in the White House next Monday, the US government is expected to make another case asking the Nigerian government to repeal its law against same-sex unions.

Making this known Monday, the US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, stated that the US would continue to pressure Nigeria until it legalises same-sex marriage.

According to the Nigerian Pilot, Thomas-Greenfield revealed America’s plans yesterday during a live-web chat with journalists in Washington DC.

US recently legalised gay marriage, a development, which sparked off mixed reactions across the globe.
Thomas-Greenfield, who said the US had adopted the protection of the rights of same-sex people as part of its foreign policies, vowed that Washington would continue to mount and sustain pressure on Nigeria and other countries to reverse their laws against lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender (LGBT) community.

She said: “As a government, it is one of the highest priorities and strongest values that discrimination against anyone based on their sexual orientation and gender identity is wrong. We believe human rights should be available to everybody.
“As a policy, we will continue to press the government of Nigeria, as well as other governments which have provided legislation that discriminate against the LGBT community.”

Thomas-Greenfield, who did not agree that pressuring Nigeria to reverse the anti-gay law amounted to interference, said Nigeria and Uganda have the hardest legislation on the gay community.

She said: “This is very much a work in progress, but I think you will agree with me that the law in Nigeria really went far in discriminating against this community but also people who associate with them. So, we will continue to press the government, to press the legislature to change these laws and provide human rights for all Nigerian people regardless of their sexual orientation.”
Thomas-Greenfield was optimistic that the US would win the fight to protect the LGBT community.

She continued: “With what is happening in the US, you can determine how far we are willing to go. We strongly believe human rights for all people and we are particularly opposed to legislation that actually targets the gay community for discrimination.
“So we are prepared to push this as a policy, not just in Africa but across the world.”

I swear something similar happened to me here in Abuja. I was sent to get fish from area 2 but I decided to branch the bank at area 3 before getting the fish. so I dropped at area bus stop to cross to the other side of the express way. A guy approached me just before crossing he said pls do I know a plaza(I've never heard of such plaza) I told him no then immediately a passer by came passing near us so he asked him if he knew the plaza, the guy said no too. Then he the lost boy turned to me again that he is from Benin republic (Cotonou)and he's English is not so good(he's English wasn't so good sha) that he brought electronic goods for a woman and she's supposed to pay him so that he'll go back to his country he doesn't know any one in Abuja. He showed me his wallet with dollar and cefa currencies. I told him to call the woman, he said her number isn't going. The other guy that was passing was still standing with us. Then he said where are the goods the guy wants to sell, the Cotonou guy said he kept them somewhere when he came. Then the other guy said they should go to the market he knows someone that will buy them.the Cotonou guy asked me that which religion I'm I? I told him i was a Muslim. He even said Salam to me. Then he said he doesn't trust that guy I should pls escort him to the place to pick up his goods and head to the market. I refused I told them I have pressing issues to attend to. He told me he has lots of BB bold touch he would give us 1 each. I told him I use iPhone I don't need BB. This guy begged me even following me when I decided to walk away.i told him I cannot help u. If you're a Muslim you know how important it is to break the fast on time I need to get to the bank then go get fish. Then he said no problem, then I left. I was just surprised when I saw I similar thing after reading this guy's story. May God protect us from any kind of harm.
