I don't know how this is important, when the strikers didn't play in a Chelsea team with numerous big chances created last season, for accurate conclusion.

Anyways Gyokeres, Dovbyk and even Guirassy are all upgrades to Jackson.
This is intellectually dishonest. None of you were talking about these names this time last year. You are calling these guys upgrades on Jackson based on the season just passed. Before then, all these guys were averaging around the same numbers as Jackson per season.

You always mentioned who we should have got and it was Vlahovic. We see now know that Jackson out did Vlahovic in terms of goals per min, and overall conversion rate. So that argument died.

Also, you didn't pay attention to the question. It was who is/were available at the time that would have outdone Jackson, specifically "based on the circumstance".

The truth of the circumstance is that for the strategy employed by the club, £32m over an eight year contract, Jackson has been the best investment in No 9 in years by numbers. That's just an empirical fact. It's not opinion.

The other options you giving were not feasible at the time. Especially not to a 28-year-old Guirassy. It would have been impossible investment for an 8- year contract.

You believe he will address the tactical issues? You believe with the right tactical approach these set of lads will cook?
Not my first choice but the answer is yes. I actually do.

This is not a Poch-type manager. Like my first choice Nagelsmann, RDZ is the type of manager who goes in and straight on the tactical board. Emphasis is on strict positional play, and use of space - top to back, back to front.

He will tell and show all players - old, young or infant, this is where you stand to make play, this is where you stand to receive play. When you receive play, this is what you do. Here is where I want you to go with the ball.

He will do this to every single position, such that every player knows where every other player is standing, or likely to be standing even without looking.

Same players, and you will think it's a different team.

I have been a long-time admirer of RDZ, since his Shaktar days. I am glad the club is looking in his direction.

I told you earlier that I am sure a better finisher would have scored 25+ goals, with those begging chances missed.

The number of goals that he should have scored, is not even as painful as those big misses that would have fetched us maximum points if converted.
Let's not postulate on hypothesis. Tell me, which specific available striker would you have in place of Jackson, and how many goals they have scored last season?

Even a dumb coach like Ten Haag before securing Europa ticket yesterday, said he would buy another striker for next season.

We should not rely on other club's misfortune before we achieve our goals next season. Jackson is not a reliable striker and now that I have even seen his big misses at Villarreal, he should be loaned out to go and develop the skills in front of goal. But, we have idiots making decisions for the team now.

You have not answered the question yet. Remove Jackson, put in your striker of choice. Tell us, how many goals would said striker have scored this part season with the same set of circumstances.

I beg to disagree, both tactics and players are to be blamed for missing out on top 5. At a point we had to name kids and 3 goalkeepers due to injuries and suspensions, in some games the players let the coach down especially in the Carabao Cup final and FA semifinal against City.
There is no way you are going to maintain consistency necessary for a top 5 push with bunch of players blowing hot and cold every matchday, the near consistent performers were Palmer, Gallagher, Gusto and to some extent Caicedo. How can a team perform regularly with this combo of problems tactically naive coach and subpar players?
Right in your disagreement, you are agreeing with me. The only difference is that you have misinterpreted the reasons.

I tell you again, the only reason the players were blowing hot and cold was Poch. EOS. Because players were not playing in a tactical straight-jacket, many times they didn't know what to do, where to stand, how to position, and how to move a unit. The players were free-styling, with no tactical understanding of what to do, for 90% of the season. Look at the stats for individual progressive carries for the season, and you will understand what I mean.

With the same team, given to RDZ, you will notice a significant uplift in tactical effeciency that cuts down markedly on inconstencies.

The moment Poch went into tactical strictness, in the second half of the Aston Villa game, the team moved up 3 gears, winning 5 on a bounce. Why were they not blowing hot and cold then?

In fact, the whole attack vs defence debate died immediately. I had not participated in those debate because I continued to mention that it was a tactical issue.

Secondly, Poch had the option to develop the likes of Maatsen, Casadei, Santos, D Angelo, Washington, Acheampong, Casteldine but didn't. Instead, he sent them away or just let them rot on the bench, but insisted on playing Chilly on the left wing. He had no faith in his options, and the negativity radiated through the team.

Thirdly he mismanaged players from returning injuries, leading to recurrent issues, causing a crisis. That is criminal management for a squad that lacked depth - a problem he caused in the first place.

And the reason he needed to rush players back was because of his failure of creating a systemic playing style, that allowed players to seamless walk into and out of the squad - a tactical problem.

I remember asking for expectations to be lowered right from the outset stating that majority of our signings are inexperienced and not up to par while the good ones are on the treatment table, but the euphoria of preseason performance clouded the judgement of many here with some even saying we are set to knock Pep off his perch. Now, we are in the wilderness without a guide.
The problem was entirely tactical, not the players. The current squad is good enough to finish 2nd or 3rd minimum.

It’s a dead-end course, no manager can go toe-to-toe with Pep and Arteta with our unbalanced and to an extent inexperienced squad.

These owners are just exhibiting a cinema and it’s not even funny.

We can’t win the title with the squad we have, we must tell ourselves the truth. These new owners needs to ditch their project, get a top manager of Mancini’s pedigree, plan how to escape FFP hit after prioritizing signings of a top No9 and a top CB, then give the manager the freedom to work.

Planning to challenge the league’s best two managers with this squad is comical, the only thing I can deduce from their statement is that they’re asking the new manager to come and humor us.
It's not a dead end. Going toe-to-toe with Arteta and Pep does not mean immediately winning the league. It just means setting up the team tactically to be resilient to Arsenal and City in the head-to-heads, and winning enough of the rest of our games to finish second or third place. Winning one small cup along the way can also help.

If Poch achieved this, he will still be here.

We are not going to hire Mancini or any coach of that profile. Those methods are now being seen as antiquated. Saudi can have them.

The owners may have got a lot of things wrong. The question is whether they are learning and addressing any errors. And I think they are. I don't think they are wrong about the general direction they intend taking the club in.

I wasn't a coach when I said it would be disastrous going into the season with Jackson as our main striker.

Any coach that joins this Chelsea team without assurance of getting a prolific striker, is just in to eat from the windfall from the mumu board.
Okay, let's do it this way. Remove Jackson, replace with any striker you think was available at the time. How many goals do you think that striker would have scored last season?

Sadly, it is rightly that.

With these new owners, I feel we have met our waterloo as a franchise. The ambition is so little that you wonder if we would ever win the title again in the next decade.

Instead of designing a model that is entirely different from that of your opposition, a model that could pose a big threat, you’re seriously modeling your own ideas after that of your opposition.

Pep and Arteta are the standard the new manager must meet? Like WTF?

What happened to selling a project to Zidane or Mancini? Ditch this failed project and work on something different?

Who advices these idiots?
To be fair, they never said that. They only said a manager that can go toe-to-toe with Pep and Arteta.

I nobi Alhaji, oga. He should be higher there but point remains Chelsea must get a striker. Shikena.
He should be higher there. Why? Did you spend £100m on him? Why do you think he should be?

Chelsea must no get anything.

Since Abramhovic took over Chelsea and we started the era of splashing on strikers, Nic Jackson has been the most productive Chelsea striker per pound, at £30m. And Jackson has done this in about the poorest team, the youngest team, the most inexperienced team, in the same era. One more thing, Jackson also went away for the Nations Cup in the same season.

You guys need perspective. I don't care, unless you want to buy Haaland or Mbappe for £300m, I can guarantee you there's is no striker out there in the world right now that gives you that value.

You want to go and spend £100m on a guy who will come and score 25 goals. You might as well give the chance to Jackson and spread that money on productive supporting ninjas like Trossard. That's what wins championships - 3 or more players scoring 15 or more goals. Not just one guy scoring 25.

E be like Airmark who insists we should have bought Vlahovic for £85m. This ninjah in more appearance, has scored less goals and made less assists than Jackson. Dude is even 2 years older than Jackson.

But we must another striker.... why?

Thank goodness you guys are not running the club.

Jackson goals are all headers and tapins. He misses every 1v1 with the keeper

But. . . .a record of 17 goals (with no penalties) in his debut season is respectable. I hope he hits 20.

And his hold up play is great
People spend too much time talking about things he's not doing well... yet.

17 goals no penalties in season 1 is brilliant for any striker. Especially for one that cost only £32m. His hold-up is elite. He's very quick for his height.

He misses a lot of one v ones but I see this as a confidence issue. The fact that he is able to isolate himself into numerous one v one situations is testament to his hard work off the ball, running into good spaces.

Jackson is not your problem. 14goals and 5 assist in his first season is a brilliant return. Man city were winning league titles without a top striker, Madrid are league champions without a top striker. Arsenal with havertz who has less league goals than Jackson are competing for the league. Tell me the striker you want Chelsea to buy that will guarantee 20league goals.
Analysis like this is what I want to see. Everybody shouting new striker, new striker, when there are teams winning championships without a standing no 9.

Arsenal just won their 27th game of the season. I believe this is their highest number of wins in a single season in over 2 decades. They've done this without a recognised no9.

If you like, buy Kane and Osimhen and fuse them into one, we will be back with the same arguments. As long as we have a tactically reactive manager like Poch, we will do nothing with that striker. We will just be wasting money.

That's why I keep saying what we have is a tactical problem. Not a defensive or attacking problem. Funny how Poch makes one single tactical change with inverted FB, and we win three in row, scoring 10 and conceding only 2, with the same set of players. To put things in perspective, we have not won 3 games in a row, since the start of the season. Just one tactical change.
