The US by extension was never threatened either.

The US and Israel have always known this and know very well that Khamenei stabilised the polity.

The US and Israel also know that hardliners are likely to assume power upon the removal of Khamenei, and then push for a nuclear bomb.

All political advisers and analysts in the state department and intelligence agencies all know this.



The question now is why are they then pushing for war and regime change? The answer is because that's what Netanyahu wants.
